Archer

The Fire Archer

HUFF...

HUFF...

HUFF...

The shadows of the forest descended around me as I ran huffing and puffing. My squad of three had gotten ambushed a quarter of a mile ago and I have been running ever since. From the sounds of the feet pounding the ground behind me, I knew that there was a team of twelve on my tale, but I was unable to turn around and fight them head on. My sword was lost and so was the rest of my other equipment.

One of the only thoughts that ran through my mind as I slid under a fallen log was that today Steven was right. The day was far too easy and Murphy was just waiting to kick us in the ass. I had finally arrived at the location of our last camp position. I wanted to smile, I wanted to cheer, but I had some traps to set for these fuckers on my trail. I had set a hard pace on the ground for them to follow and left my sword behind with some blood on the blade. That was all a ruse because what they didn't know was that I was the best damn archer around and the tree tops were my fucking home.

Kicking off the ground, I was up jumping from tree limb to tree limb as I circled around the fire pit from half a day ago. Within ten jumps I was now overlooking the river that we used for bathing. Removing the bow from my back, I pulled an arrow notching it. The other end was wrapped with a rope that was then tied around my quiver. Taking steady aim, I allowed the wind to settle for a moment before I released the arrow feeling the hearty thrum of the bow string as the arrow was launched across the way with my quiver filled with arrows.

The arrow landed exactly where I wanted it, while the quiver landed directly over a low hanging branch. With a grin, I put my bow back over my shoulder before I jump myself into the river below. The cold was a shot to the system as the water washed away the salt and sweat that was previously coating my skin. Within four strokes, I was on the other side of the river pulling myself up. A quick sniff told me that my scent was no longer wafting through the air.

A savage grin played on my features as I pulled myself up onto the side of the river. Pulling my hands together, a puff of fire from my exhale had me dry within moments. With one last check of my surroundings, I was all ready to go. Crouching down, I launched myself with a jet of fire towards the tree with my quiver. Placing it back onto my back, I pulled the arrow out before raping the rope around my up upper torso being mindful of my bountiful assets.

The rope was back in place and my beautiful girls were high tight and perky. With a little bit of self indulgence out of the way. I shifted my head as I heard a snapping of tree twigs. Looking through the foliage, I noticed the dogs stopped on the bank of the river sniffing around. Good, I thought to myself. My scent was gone and these hunters were no longer able to track me.

Now, It was my turn to hunt.

Notching an arrow, I pulled it back and waited. The string was taught in my grip, but I held firm. With a spark of inspiration, I internalized my fire inside of the hollowed out shaft. My eyes zeroed in and my body stilled, yet I waited. There was a howl in the background that drew the hunting dogs attention, yet I didn't release my load. I was aiming for the perfect chance and I was granted it within moment's.

Three more arrived as the wind shifted for me. The leaves shifted allowing a better line of site on my trackers. I was now located downwind with shifting branches allowing me to release the arrow. The thrum of the bow was hidden with the sound of the rustling leaves.

BOOM!!

My flame arrow exploded with force as it buried into the chest of the middle hunter pulverizing him and his two friends. The hunting dogs stood no chance as I had already noticed two more arrows and skewered them to the surrounding forest trees. With a brief glance at a job well done, I was already turning and moving through the trees. I jumped three more tree's down the river side then launched myself across the river. This got my back onto the other side which had the way back home, but also the campsite.

I stayed in place to keep myself down wind of any more hunting dogs that they might have. Notching two more arrows, I laid in wait as the wind started to pick up. It didn't take long before I heard the screaming and yelling of hunters approaching my location. The foliage split for a micro second allowing me to sight in and release my arrows. The first one was launched at the breastplate that was stuck in the tree from the first fire arrow explosion while I sent the next straight down a forty-five-degree angle.

The first arrow bounced off the plate scaring the horse causing them to raise up in protest, but my second arrow struck true. It was so true that it went right through the neck of two hunters killing them instantly before sticking into a tree shaking it from the force applied. With grim determination, I was moving to my next target. The torches they carried allowed me to track them quickly. There were four using the old fire pits from the last day's camping.

Notching another hollowed arrow, I pumped my flames into it. I had a plan and knew how to execute it. One flame arrow into the air drew all four of their attentions while I sank four arrows through their hearts. Before I could rejoice, I had to jump away from my branch as a rustle of leaves announced my doom.

The tree I was on exploded in a blast of wind as the hunter's archer tried to shoot me down. Flitting through the tree's, I fired back in the direction with a fire arrow hoping to force him off of my trail. My action was in vain as another arrow sank it's way into the spot I had vacated with only seconds to spare. This time exploding with a burst of lightning scattering the shards of wood chips everywhere.

I tried to catch my breath as I jumped from tree to tree, desperately running from my foe's as their manna element arrows exploded the forest around me. I sent another fire arrow into the air as I looked around for my opponent's location. My fire arrow exploded as I looked around only to find a lightning arrow coming directly for my face. A flame powered leap sent me into a powered commando roll out of the way setting me up to return a volley of flame arrows in the general direction of the lightning arrow.

This time, I was no longer aiming for the hunter but the body heat I felt in the area. There was a scream as my scorcher arrow found its home in the flesh of the hunter. A double explosion almost made me smile at his death before a cry sounded out from the Southeast as a wind arrow tore a chunk out of my shoulder.

I rolled with a hiss of pain before launching powering a lob shot in the direction of that shot. I was not happy with that so I sent more powered lob shots following along the way to the position of the lightning user. I was not going to rest until I had carpet bombed the who fucking area to death.

A sweet scream drew my attention and I was able to tell that it was on the end of the range of one of my power lobs. I dashed towards the area with speed only to find a half body fucker screaming around on the ground. Chunks of ground and trees were blown all over the place from the power of my exploding arrows.

Jumping down from my branch, I walked up to the wind user. The person must not have noticed me through all of the pain, but that was okay. Notching an arrow, I planted my leg onto the wind user's chest as I pulled the string back. My hand was steady and my mind was firm, but that didn't stop the anger from fueling my arrow.

BOOM!!

The arrow I released removed the upper body of the wind user as it punched a groove into the ground. The arrow I had shot pinged off the chest armor to plow into his head then the ground. Blood, bone and viscera fell out of the gapping wound stinking up the area. With one last kick to the wind user's corpse, I jumped back into the tree's in search of the commander. As I jumped from branch to branch, I noticed that my quiver was down to only six arrows left.

Honing my sense's once more, I listened to the wind for the heat of a living person. The world around me transmitted the locations of small animals first before then transmitted the horses position. Ignoring all the background noise, I focused on the last two of my hunters. I could feel the commander lazy on her horse as she lazily trotted down the road. That was strange because I knew there were twelve.

I did a quick mental count and came up to eight slayed. I put the thought to the back of my mind as I made my way to the person on the horse. Turns out it was not the commander, no it was so shitty second in command that almost took my well thick asses life. I was four tree's out as an arc of sword energy came slashing through my location.

I fired off a quick arrow for a substitution as the sword energy slashed through my branch. I retaliated with a power shot of my own. This shot killed the horse as the hunter tried to slash my trick arrow away. Now the hunter no longer had any mobility with his heavy armor.

The horse went down hard and I fired another shot while the armored hunter was flipping through the air. The arrow knocked him out of the air, but also brought my down to my last four shots. Slowing my breathing, I lined up another shot, but had to fire it off as a charge shot to cancel out the sword arc sent my way. Grumbling at my last three arrows, I moved along the branches dodging more sword arcs sent my way.

I fired a scorcher round at the base of a few trees to obscure the armored hunters vision. With the dust in the air, I hunkered down to load a power shot as sword arcs flashed by. The arrow heated up as I charged with more and more power. I guess he must have noticed the light because a sword energy was sent my way. I released my charge shot and didn't wait to watch it power through his sword energy because I was already moving.

KAAABOOOM!!!

The charge shot had overpowered the sword energy and slammed into the shield of the armored hunter as I snuck up behind him. The armored hunter roared as he fought back against the charge shot that was forcing its way into his shields. With a leap, I was on his backstabbing my last arrow through his eye slits. He screamed like a little bitch as I jumped from his back into a commando roll. His last eye met my own and I shot him a smirk as he lost control of the charge shot before him.

I turned and ignored the scream as he exploded behind me in search of his missing commander. Before I could do that, I made my way to the river to quench my thirst. Rapidly dashing through the tree's I soon reached the river further down from where I had crossed the first and second time.

Pulling my quiver from my back, I bent over and caught a hand full of cool cool water. As I attempted to drink my fill, I never noticed the muddy earth slither it's way towards me. I reached for thirds but was quickly interrupted as a muddy hand gripped my ankle and hoisted me into the air.

My hands lit ablaze as I gripped the earth around my neck. There was a growl that I ignored as I made sure to boil away all the water within the arm around my neck. I felt the cracking and crumbling as I kicked a leg out pushing away from whatever it was that was in front of me.

Standing before me with a smug look on his face was the commander and he was an fucking earth user. Growling, I formed a fireball in both of my hands. His arched eyebrows told me that he knew what was about to happen. I launched one towards our feet and the other towards the water.

Steam rose into the air as debris shot skyward. I rolled away then jumped into the tree's into the surroundings. Giant earth fist rose out of the ground and shot towards me as I jumped from tree limb to tree limb. Pulling out my bow, I launched myself into the air as I formed a flame arrow for firing. I changed the tip to a trident form as I sent it into the ground with a twang of my bow. Veins of fire ran along the ground with the arrow, but I didn't see the commander anywhere. Dropping down on a branch, I forced the area to explode as I started to run through the treetops once more.

Twisting I rolled out of the way from a lance of earth shooting at me, while returning a flame arrow of my own. For the briefest of moments, I felt a flicker of heat to the north of my location. As I ran through the treetops, I turned an arrow head into a flaming drill and launched it into the ground towards the direction of flicker of heat. The ground swelled into a dome of lava before exploding in an orchestra of destruction.

I was forced to jump away once more as another lance of earth shot through the tree before me. This threw off my angle as it sliced through my thigh forcing me to roll along the ground. Flames licked the round around me as arrows formed with my intent to kill. They six flame arrows shot out sent to home in on that ass hole that was hiding with his earth magic.

The other three flame arrows pulled back around my body and started to rotate as I formed another larger flame arrow and notched it on my bow. I pulled back on my arrow as the flames brighten along the arrow shaft as I pumped more power into it. Magical circles of flames started to form as more and more power was forced into the main arrow with it's supporting arrows circling around.

Closing my eyes, I felt for the others that I had sent out not too long ago and found one of them had pierced my attacker's shoulder. With a savage grin on my features, my eyes blazed with my inter flames.

"NOVA RUPTURE!"

There was a huge eruption of force released as I launched my strongest attack. There was no way I was going to wait and see if it had hit. THis was an attack that was able to create it's only volcanic eruption. If I wanted to survive this then I would have to get the hell out of here now. I noticed the bright blaze of the arrow turning and almost shat myself. The only way it could have turned in my direction was if that asshole was trying to get my caught up with it also.

As I ran towards the river, I formed hundreds of fire arrows in the air and launched it at the commander. Some got through and some didn't, but it was enough to slow him down long enough for me to jump into the flowing river. Pulling my bow over my shoulder, I focused on my arms and legs to summon my inner flame.

With a quick orientation, I sent a jet stream out as I watched the Nova Rupture touch down on the earth. I was a half a mile down the river when the horizon blasted me with blinding light as if it was day time. The tree shook and the river rages, but I knew that my attack wasn't finished yet.

KAAABOOOOOM!!!!

The blast had finally caught up with me, sending me flipping ass over the tea kettle.
