Chapter 28: In the Dark
You won’t be here long.
Alfonso’s words echo in my head as I stand in the dark, frozen in place.
What does that mean?
What is the rest of his plan? Who gave him a better offer? So many thoughts run through my head.
A better off than his current position with Lucas could mean only a few things. Lucas, to my understanding, is a great boss and a great King. Cadence might be his right-hand man but Alfonso was one of his advisors. He had a good life, or so I thought. Maybe he didn’t. I didn’t really know him that well.
I thought he was good friends with the other three; Liam, Cadence, and Lucas. When I first met them, I thought they were all best friends. It was perfect. Me and my three girls, Lucas and his three guys.
I pace the floor in my heels then drop onto the cot and take off the shoes. Looking at the heel, I try to figure out if I can use it to pick the lock. I wouldn’t know where to start with that but I need to get out of here.
