Chapter 12

Kale left her desk, his hand on his tie slightly loosening it and opening the first two buttons.

It seemed like a habit of his.

The females around him all had their eyes on him.

Some passed by him giggling.

All of a sudden a small figure walked up to him.

"I saw the register, you are not an employee here." It was Soo Chae-Won.

Kale already knew she was looking into him.

Of course, he knew everything.

He didn't move nor answer.

His eyes kept looking ahead, and since he was taller even when she faced him he just ignored her.

"Hey, I am talking to you. I will call security on you." Of course, I wouldn't. He was probably someone who had a family member working here. He won't be a thief with such a handsome face, would he? She was thinking. Well, I will trample on your little pride a bit before having fun with you.

Kale could read her mind, her memories. He couldn't read Ari's.

And reading this woman's thoughts he felt disgusted to the point where...

Should I kill her? He thought as his eyes fell down to meet hers.

He already knew what she made Ari go through. And the filthy images she was imagining him in right now, made him cold. He could get rid of her right now even with cameras as if she never walked up to him.

He could make it seem like she disappeared the moment she entered her office.

Or even before leaving her home, where she left two men on her bed.

He could make everyone believe what he wanted them to.

Should he? There was a hint of murderous light in his gray eyes.

Soo Chae-Won didn't notice.

He's finally looking at me, she smirked. This wasn't the first time she blackmailed a man.

"Well then tell me your name first-"

"Call them," he said.

Soo Chae-Won's eyes widened, she tilted her head a bit flirting, "Oh my, you have such a nice voice. Could you, repeat what you said I didn't manage to hear."

His eyes turned cold. "Call them."

She was still unaware this time. "You mean, security?"

He didn't answer and kept staring.

"You wouldn't want to get into trouble for such a trivial thing would you?"

His eyes remained cold and calm.

This arrogant bitch, she thought.

"Alright."

She raised her phone and called security.

Many people already gathered afar from them to gossip when she walked up to him.

Now seeing she called security on him they swarmed surrounding them.

Ari was focused until she heard a commotion outside.

She raised her eyes to look at the door.

Was it Kale? She wondered.

She stood up to check.

She stumbled upon her half-sister talking to Kale at the foot of her door.

"If you only you took the easy way out."

He still didn't respond and kept ignoring her.

"What is happening here?"

Soo Chae-Won looked at Ari up and down, "Nothing for you to worry about."

Ari's eyebrows crossed. "You are in front of my desk."

"Then get inside and close the door, ugh." She already was having enough of this handsome fella being so stubborn.

Ari was fuming but suddenly security came in.

"This man is unidentified, have him held for investigation."

The head of security bowed his head slightly to Soo Chae-Won without saying a word a few meters away from her, followed by the others.

He raised his head to look at who she was pointing to.

His eyes fell on the calm Kale.

"I am sorry Miss Soo, but he is the bodyguard of Miss Soo Ari, he started working today. I can't..."

Soo Chae-Won's eyes widened.

"Oh, OH!" She turned to Kale. "So you were playing me this entire time? Trying to make me look stupid in front of everyone? You could have answered when I asked you to identify yourself."

Kale's eyelids fell halfway on his pupils as if they were sleepy.

"As a martial artist, my senses are very sharp. I couldn't stand next to someone with a strong smell of fish, nor was I able to answer them."

Silence filled the hall.

Soo Chae-Won's eyes widened, she couldn't utter a word.

Especially because the head of the security guard, a known 4th rank, was also looking at her weirdly and keeping his distance. He picked a bit of it.

Murmurs gradually broke the silence.

"YOU! I WILL HAVE YOU KILLED FOR DISRESPECTING ME!" She stormed out to the elevator.

Ari took over, "Everyone, please don't mind and go back to your stations."

She turned to the head of security. "I apologize for the inconvenience."

"Please don't miss Soo."

His eyes stole a glimpse of the nonchalant Kale.

He was personality notified by master Han to not mess with this man and always be on his good side.

He bowed slightly to Ari and Kale before leaving with the others.

Ari had many other thoughts she didn't notice that he bowed to Kale too, which shouldn't normally happen.

She walked to her desk.

"You should probably stay inside from now on," she spoke to him softly this time.

She seemed to be in a good mood as she sat on her chair.

He sat on the couch and took a book from the table to read.

She suddenly froze as soon as she held her paper. Ari threw it and raised her eyes to look at him calmly reading as if nothing happened.

"Why have you done that?"

"She didn't stop pestering me."

"By flirting with you?"

"Yeah," he kept reading while answering her.

Hmm, she took a moment, "You dislike, when people flirt with you?"

He turned the page over, "I do."

Hmm, she looked away for a moment, thinking to herself.

"Start eating breakfast from now on," he suddenly said coldly.

"Why?" She tilted her head confused.

He paused and raised his head slowly to look at her.

His eyes had the same coldness.

"O-okay," she stuttered blankly staring.

He returned to his book.

Ari gritted her teeth.

Damn, I lost that one.

She bit her hand.

Why do you have to be so easy ugh, she scolded herself.

"You don't know how to cook, do you?" He suddenly asked.

Ari didn't know why she got a bit embarrassed to answer that.

The staff at the restaurant seemed too familiar with you for being the owner, not even explaining the daily specials which meant they know you are never interested. You didn't look at the menu for more than mere seconds and only kept watching my interaction with the waitress. She didn't ask about how you liked your steak that day, which meant you always go for medium rare. And of course, I read their memories. You are always there, ever since you were a child abandoned by her mother.

That was what he wanted to say.

He sighed.

"I overheard the male staff saying you were there pretty much every day at both lunch and dinner."

Ari's eyes widened and she was stuck in motion.

"Now," he put his book down, "You don't, or is it a question of time?"

"I know, the basics," she said fidgeting behind the desk.

He stood up and walked up to her.

Ari kept following him with her eyes, she had to raise her eyes at a certain point because of his height.

He picked up the white bag.

"No tuna?" Talking about the triangle kimbap.

"Not a fan," she shook her head, "wait how did you know without opening it?"

"I am pretty sensitive to fishy smells," he said as he walked to throw it in the bin at the door rather than the one next to her.

She started laughing remembering what happened outside just now.

Kale paused, he turned his head.

She was there, her eyes closed, her hand covering a bit of her mouth, the other holding her stomach.

She laughed.

She was laughing without holding back.

Kale's pupils suddenly dilated and his eyes widened.

This was the first time he saw her laugh.

Even from her father's memories, she stopped laughing after a certain age.

After, her mother left her.

Yet she would laugh at a trivial thing like this?

It didn't matter.

For now, Kale was too captivated by her light...
