Clumsy

There's another message from an unknown number. It only has a smiley face. I'm not sure whether to reply or not nor what to reply. In the end, I didn't reply to the unknown number and I went to finish my homework as it's school tomorrow.

Next morning, as usual, I prepared myself, had my breakfast and said goodbye to my parents. I walked on my normal pace while on my phone. I noticed someone's walking with me so I looked on my side and Liam was there. The smile on my face is from ear to ear.

I moved closer to his side and I totally ignored my phone. I'm quite happy to just walk, even without talking. All of a sudden, he asked me, "How is your friend?" It got me thinking, 'Does he like Liza?' The smile on my face vanished 'Is he befriending me because of Liza?' I didn't answer, instead, I walked faster than usual and I left him behind. I shouted, "I'm sorry, I'm running late. Catch you later." I waved goodbye and I ran.

Later in the afternoon, I went to the post office for my part-time job. Liam is not yet there so I did my job as fast as I could. I was carrying a crate of twelve empty bottles of milk to the storage room when Liam suddenly took them off me. "You should have waited for me!" he said angrily.

I didn't follow him to the storage room, instead, I helped Mr Phillips to restock everything in the post office. Mr Phillips left me to attend to some customers. I was left to do the restocking.

Everything was fine until I have to reach the top shelf. I tip-toed to reach the box on the top, it's just too high and I can't reach it. I tried to tip-toed higher in my attempt to push the box sideways but by doing that I lost my balance.

There's only one to two seconds drop before I hit the floor, there is no time to prepare myself. To my surprise, I fell on Liam's arms. "Why didn't you asked for my help or at least got the small ladder?" His eyes seemed concerned and mad at the same time.

"I thought I would be able to reach it and I don't want to keep disturbing you." I looked down to try and avoid his gaze.

Mr Phillips rushed to us, "What happened here?"

"I thought I was holding the box properly, it fell and it nearly hit her head. I'm sorry Mr Phillips, it's my fault." Liam explained.

"Alright, get back to work. Are you two alright?" Mr Phillips asked.

We both answered and told him that we are fine. Mr Phillips then left us and went back to what he was doing.

Liam was not finished with me, he really seemed angry and taking something out on me. "Next time, if it's too high for you, ask for help. Otherwise, you will be disturbing Mr Phillips as well."

I bit my lip and thought to myself, 'Why is he angry at me?'

He gathered the stuff that fell out of the box and finished the work I was doing. I left him there and I was looking for something else to do. I gathered all the unsold newspaper and stacked them up.

It's nearly 6 pm and it's home time for me. So I prepared myself to go home and said goodbye to Mr Phillips and Liam. Mr Phillips said goodbye and he told me to take care and be safe. While Liam just gave me the evil eye so I hurried to exit the door.

I walked slowly and my head is filled with "WHY" 'Have I done something to upset him?' I scratched my head and I kicked an empty can of Pepsi Max.

"What did that Pepsi did to you to deserve a kicking from you?"

It was Liam following behind me. I tried to walk fast so it's not so obvious that I'm kind of avoiding him. But he is smart and he figured it out.

"Are you avoiding me? Have I done something?" he asked me.

I kept walking fast and I tried to ignore him, I pretend that I was walking absentmindedly.

He grabbed my arm to stop me from walking away from him. I pretend that I was surprised. "What? Were you talking to me? I'm sorry, I was thinking of something?"

"Are you avoiding me?" he asked again.

"No. Of course not. Why will I avoid you?" I denied,

"This is unlike you. Tell me what I did to upset you?"

'Do you like Liza?' I'm itching to ask that question, but for some reason, I couldn't. "It's just homework and school stuff."

"Do you need help?" he offered.
