Chapter 22: Somewhere Else
Luci’s POV:
Why was Gavin doing this for me?
He didn’t have to sit here and block me so I could cry. Each tear that fell left my body feeling lighter than I had since the morning started.
My father was such an *ss, along with his guardia he sent to spy on me. Between him and Alex, I felt like I was falling into a pit I wouldn’t be able to climb back out of.
And then there was Gavin, offering me a hand.
I let myself lean against his shoulder. I knew my tears were staining the back of his shirt, but I needed some semblance of touch, and there wasn’t anyone else I’d rather be with than him.
I wasn’t sure how it’d happened, but I could feel myself drawn to Gavin more with each passing second.
His sweet scent calmed me down as the last of the tears finally fell from my eyes. I wasn’t sure how long we’d been like this, but I knew we both needed to eat and get out of the hot summer weather.
I didn’t want to get up though.
