Chapter six: Fighting the first set of enemies

The next day,

They all have a quick briefing as well as their breakfasts in Rick's room. So this is the plan, I said while giving a file to both Tom and May before continuing, we are going to head north and first kill the weaker monsters and we should be able to kill at least fifty monsters if we leave before the other groups.

But, what if all the monsters are high level monsters, how do escape? Tom asked.

Well, we still have the trackers so I don't think there will be problems, I answered. Also, I managed to get a minivan from Miss Tasha so we can easily escape, I say with a reassuring look.

Since we're done with the briefing, let's go now as I don't like to stay outside for too long, May said.

Sure, I answered.                                          

It only took us a few minutes to arrive at northern parts of this island, Tom said before continuing excitedly, then, if we keep up this speed , we should be back before five in the evening.

Hmm, I spot five monsters ahead and I don't think it will be safe to enter the enemy zone with this van so, we have to complete the mission on foot, I said while jumping out of the van. And don't forget to bring the necessary items.

Sure, Tom replied while May nodded in agreement.

Fireball, May shouted while activating a red magic circle appeared on her palm.

Roar! The monsters that May attacked screamed out in pain as part of its skin got burnt.

May, you keep two of the monsters busy while Tom and I will handle the other three.

Hmph, May replied with a nod.                      Tom you go for that one, I said while pointing to one of the monsters. And I will handle the other two.

Ehem, are you sure? Tom asked.

I am, I replied while activating my katana.

Time barrier, I mutter. Suddenly a blue magic circle appeared on my palm before a blue light enveloped me and my katana.

Suddenly, I vanished and then reappeared behind one of the monsters before slicing off its head.

"What," both May and Tom shouted in disbelief.

How was he able to do that? Does he have invincibility or what, May asked Tom.

I don't know, Tom replied. And is this dude really a level five, he should be at level fifteen already.

Hey do you need my assistance, I asked the both of them while killing another monster.

Sure, I haven't been able to land a proper attack. It just keep dodging most of my attack, Tom answered.                                         

How about you? I asked May.

Never mind and besides, I should be able to kill this monster in the next three minutes, she replied.

Time barrier, I mutter while attacking the monster with my katana.

But, the monster must have had a high perception because it turned around hit me the moment I reappeared. Although I was thrown twenty meter backward, I only had little injuries on my body with tiny ounces of blood dripping from my nose.

Are you okay, Tom asked.

I'm fine, I replied. This monster is not a normal one so, it can sense most of our attack before it even get to him.

Does it mean that we're going to die? Tom asked fearfully.

No, I replied. But, we are going to have a change of strategy. Since it can sense our attack before it even gets to him, I need you to attack him non stop while I handle him.

I see, you want me to be the bait while you attack the monster when it is distracted, you're an evil genius, Tom said with a grin on his face.

Anyway, let's hurry up, we don't have much time and we still have to kill at least fifty monsters today, I replied.

Fireball, flamethrower, Tom said while activating two red magic circles on his palm.

Wow, Tom is better than I imagined him to be, activating two magic skill at the same time, I am impressed, I thought inwardly.

Rick, attack him now. I don't think I will be able to fight much longer, Tom shouted.

Time barrier, I said while a blue magic circle appeared on my palm.

"Slash" , the sound of my sword echoed as I cut the monster head.

Finally, we have killed the five monsters so we just have to kill forty-five more, Tom said.

Shit, I feel so exhausted, I don't think I can recover my energy soon, May said as she staggers toward us.

I think we should take a break and besides, our magic level is still low so we have to rest, I replied.

But, we can only rest for twenty minutes if we are still going to kill monsters, Tom said.

Hmm, I have to buy some healing and recovery pills from my first income and besides, that can improve our team performance, I thought inwardly.
