Calista tried to get up and find a place to hide even though her legs were limping in pain. The car that was holding Calista turned around and approached the place where Calista managed to escape. The three people who were in the car got out and cursed harshly knowing their prey had fled.
Calista hid among the trees that stood along the deserted highway. She has basic martial arts skills but right now she is in a weak condition because the effects of the drugs are still felt, plus her opponents are three able-bodied people with sharp weapons, Calista doesn't want to risk her life in vain.
"You bitch, GET OUT! Don't think you can get away tonight. You're going to suffer the consequences of playing with me." Nia draws a knife while looking between trees and shrubs with the help of Lusi and her men.
Calista held her breath. She was looking for a way to get out of her hiding place without being caught. Her leg was still sprained from bouncing off a moving car. With all her might, Calista walked sneakily.
Unable to walk nor move away, Calista finally could only sit quietly waiting for a miracle.
When suddenly there is a car passing on the highway and the lights are blinding, Calista is desperate to come out of hiding and block a passing car by stretching her arms in the middle of the road while closing her eyes.
The sound of a car squeaking the brakes suddenly made Calista resign no matter what happened.
"CALISTA!" The magic was on the poor girl's side. It was Darren who emerged from the driver's seat. Darren ran up to Calista and was about to scold her for stopping the car suddenly. However, he failed to do so because his wife immediately fainted in his arms after calling his name.
"Darren..."
Darren hugged his wife who looked weak. He didn't see anyone around him. He also carried Calista and put her in the back passenger seat in a sleeping position. Darren got into the driver's seat and drove his car as fast as lightning through the night towards his mansion.
"Shit! Tonight we failed to take her life. It's bad that she divulges our names to Mr Darren." Nia clenched her fist tightly and hit it against the car door.
"How is this Nia if she realizes and mentions our names in front of Mr. Darren? We're done!" Lusi panicked and trembled to cry. She didn't predict failure because she was sure he would succeed.
"Calm down! I have to think of a way." Nia racked her brain while pursing her lips.
Meanwhile, Darren drove his car with incredible speed. The target is no longer the mansion but the nearest hospital. He could see Calista's forehead was injured and bleeding.
Only 10 minutes he arrived in front of the emergency room of a hospital that is quite large. Darren immediately opened the rear passenger door and carried Calista's unconscious body in both hands towards the inside half running.
"Nurse, please help my wife. She fainted." Several medics ran to Darren. Two of them brought cots and in an instant, Calista's body was brought to the inside of the examination room. Darren followed behind.
"Sorry, sir, just go to the registration section to provide patient data. Let us take care of your wife." The door of the room was closed and Darren immediately ran to the registration section after asking around.
After he finished giving Calista's data to a medic, Darren made a call.
"Andrew, you check the CCTV around the road after the bridge which I will share now. I need the results immediately tonight." Darren disconnects the call and sends the intended location.
After that, he returned to the emergency room to meet his wife who disappeared a while ago.
"Where's my wife?" Without further ado, Darren immediately asked the point of one of the nurses who had just left the room.
"What's your wife's name?" asked the sister.
"Calista, the one who came earlier was unconscious."
"Oh, it's been treated by a doctor. You can come in and go to the bed in the corner to the right." The nurse showed the direction where Calista was lying.
"Okay thanks." Darren went straight to where Calista was lying.
"Oh, what a handsome husband." The nurse smiled to herself when she saw Darren who passed her.
Darren looked at Calista who was still lying down with her eyes closed. There was a bandage on her forehead and some red medicine on her knees and elbows, as well as the corners of her lips. Darren was furious to see her. Only once left home alone can this be. The culprit will definitely feel worse than what happened to Calista, that's Darren's promise.
Darren sat on the edge of the bed watching Calista's pale face. Suddenly, his cell phone vibrates and he leaves the room for a moment.
"Sir, I got the result. Please check my incoming message." Andrew said. Darren immediately turned off his cellphone and saw the file in the form of photos that Andrew had sent.
Some photos are in the form of a minivan and about 3 people walking around the car. There is also a sighting of Calista getting out of the car in a state of bouncing rolling on the paved road. Darren's jaw tightened. Some dare to play with their lives.
Darren zoomed in on one of the photos showing a person wielding a knife in her hand. And, suddenly a devilish grin rose from Darren's lips which anyone who saw it would swallow saliva heavily and feel his throat constrict.
Darren was just about to return to Calista's room when the vibrating sound of his phone stopped him.
"Darren, where are you? I was already in front of the hospital entrance. I saw your car in front so I was curious. Are you okay?" Britney's voice made Darren sigh harshly. What did this woman come for? Darren has avoided her many times but still, Britney always sticks like a postage stamp.
"Why are you following me? Go home!" Darren disconnected the call but suddenly in front of him was standing Britney who was still holding the phone to her ear.
"Darren, are you all right? Why do you have to go to the hospital? What are you sick with?" Britney approached Darren and held the body of the man in front of her while checking for any wounds on his body.
"I'm fine. You go home!" Darren removed Britney's hand from his body.
"Darren, I'm worried about you. Why don't you care about my good intentions?" Britney pursed her lips as if she was sulking so that the green-eyed man touched her and hugged her apologetically.
"I don't need that. Now you go home. I have business to attend to." Darren thought about how to get rid of this stubborn woman. If she found out what Darren was doing here, she would have done something reckless.
"I will accompany you. You will definitely need my help." Britney held Darren's arm as if she didn't want to let go. Darren stretched his neck left and right.
"Britney, I'm not kidding. You come home or I'll have someone force you home." Darren said with restrained emotion.
