Chapter 10 : Consequences (1)

I'm in trouble. Well trouble is an understatement… Jeanne was quite furious at me spending irresponsibly… But to be perfectly honest… yeah no hell hath no fury like a woman's wrath.

"Do you understand dear?"

"Yes mommy…"

"So… Why did you suddenly buy a mech?"

Finally I got my chance to explain myself.

"..."

"Did my baby finally kill his first prey?"

"... not exactly… I just enslaved him."

"Now come along… It's getting late!"

Oh yeah, did I mention that Jeanne scolds me in Shinjuku square… well now you know.

The next day came. The alarm rang at 4 today. An hour earlier than yesterday. As I had to make something for me and Alice's lunch… but after trying for one hour… NOPE. This is way harder than I thought. And so I cleaned up and went to Alice's mansion.

The early morning rain made my day just that much worse.. It suddenly rained when I was running to Alice's mansion.. As I arrived soaking wet. The huge gate was already opened as the usual guard lightly greeted me.

I took a bath as soon as I reached the premise. The rain didn't stop. It's getting worse in fact. And so here I am alone with Alice's private security guard…

"So…"

"Yeah?"

"You know how to cook."

"Yup."

"Can you teach me?"

"... I can."

"Can we start now?"

"Impossible. Your hands are clumsy, work on that first."

"... Makes sense. What's your name anyway."

"... Call me Captain Nemo. If you want to learn the art of the kitchen you should find Nemo Bakery!"

"… Is that some sort of bakery in town or– HOLD UP!!"

Let's see, blonde hair with blue highlights? Check. A face that's both cute and can pass as an ikemen, check. A whole mansion full of people with the same features… Let me check… I ran towards one of the gardeners… and wouldn't you know it, blonde hair with blue highlights, gardening clothes, and a cute face. I ran back towards Captain Nemo.

"YOU BASTARD! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU'RE A HEROIC SPIRIT!?"

"... Because I'm not… Not anymore at least."

As I was shaking Nemo's Collar, Alice threw herself up to me.

"Liam! So, did you cook for us?"

"... About that… It seems that cooking's hard."

"Ah don't sweat it! Anyway it's raining! Let's run through the rain today!"

"... Eh What did you say, Alice! Your Dad will have my head hanging on his balcony if we do that!"

"Nah! Your head will be in my room if it comes to it! So what's there to worry about?"

First, I would love my head on my body thank you, and secondly… Should I just hide somewhere where you cannot find me, because now I'm scared. Scared of Alice being a Yandere, or worse… I was thinking about the route we must take, but suddenly my hand is grabbed and off we go running in the rain….

I'm glad that Nemo is here… he seems to be bending the rain to his will, as I don't feel any rain hitting us at all, while Nemo is following us closely behind us, he seems to bring a pair of umbrellas.

"Young miss, please wait!"

"Nope! Catch me if you can, Nemo!"

After a few minutes of running, we're at the train station, the only thing that's wet is our shoes. And so I paid the fare for a few people before we finally took the morning train.

"It's cramped! So this is the morning rush everyone's talking about!"

What kind of privileged young lady do you not know about the morning rush? And so not long after, we arrived at our stop. It took a bit of convincing before Alice agreed not to do this again and to use an umbrella. And so we took a leisurely walk the rest of the way from the station to school. Nemo is still following us.

"Hey, Liam, Speaking of which, Why do I smell something changed in you?"

"Huh? Well It did rain, maybe it's the rain that's messing with your nose?"

"No, silly! What I mean is your soul! C'mon! Tell me!"

I ended up talking about what happened yesterday, me fighting Moriarty, who's using a ruler. And how he looked like me but with makeup on… but speaking of which… I only now realize… Since he's my persona, can I summon him?

I found Alice's face uncomfortably close in front of me. I did not scream like a little girl. Yep definitely not.

I increased my walking speed… but something's strange… Why is nobody walking by my side? Isn't it rush hour? But when I looked around.. Oh I'm in the middle of the intersection… Oh It's the cars turn to move… Oh I'm in the middle of the street… Mah… It's fine isn't it, red haired young lady? EH? RED HAIRED YOUNG LADY? ISN'T THIS!?

"HEY WATCH OUT!"

A young lady right next to me broke into a sprint as I saw another red haired young lady frozen in place while a car was approaching…

My mind freezes for a second. I wanted to run and save them both. But if I do, doesn't that just throw a wrench on all the cannons? I mean that's my only advantage right?

[Indecisive piece of shit.]

F*** ME! I rushed towards both of the girls, With my speed I'll just barely reach it… But why is the man not slowing down!?

[Oh you're dumb.]

What? Well this dumb man just beat a mathematics proffesor, so who's dumb now!?

[... 5 seconds to impact]

one of them is pushing the other one out of the way.

I reached both of the girls. The bright light of the vehicle blinds me, It's not a truck at least. Judging by the low light, it should be a sedan.

I grabbed the girl by the waist, not stopping for a second, and then something freaked me out. I heard a tire screeching sound as the car went out of control and was drifting uncontrollably. And with that angle. It'll hit me and the girl that's pushed down.

1…

Just as the car was about to hit, I grabbed the other girl, and leaped vertically. Hoping to jump over the car.

0…

*SCREECH*

*BANG*

I fell on top of the car. With both girls in my arms. The sounds of phones flashing, and a siren followed not long after. Everything's spinning. But something bothers me… why do I see a red liquid… That's the last thing I think about as everything turns black…

I woke up, in a moving car. This is not an ambulance is it? If it is I'll just jump out!

[Go ahead Liam. It'll make for an interesting scenario…]

As I was contemplating what to do.

"Hey! See, I told you he's going to be alright!"

"But please understand, your friend here needs a medical checkup quickly!"

"Yes I understand, but he's fine now, and my family can get him into the hospital quicker! Nemo!"

"Hai…"

Suddenly black sedans came into the scene, and I'm escorted to the closest Hospital.

"Good Job Liam! Now we can skip school!"

Aren't you worried one bit about me getting hit by a car? Wait I forgot that everyone can tank hits from gods like it's coffee before work.

And so I was thoroughly checked in the hospital. And so were the ones I saved. They gave me this strange look when I was the one getting hit by most of the impact, but I ended up with the least amount of scratches… It seems that Noah even paid some hush money to keep my situation a secret…

As for the girls… they're currently in the ICU…

"Hey! Liam! Look at this!"

I looked at Alice, and what I saw was…. HOW DID YOU GET OUTSIDE !?

"HEHEHE!"

"Get back in here!"

"...Huh? Why does that matter?"

Oh yeah they're basically invincible… WAIT THAT'S NOT THE POINT!

"*cough cough* Anyway, get back here first… I'm thinking about what to say to Mother and everyone else if they ask…"

And so Alice got baited back inside… And in the end we talked about things that are nowhere near what happened before.

She only raises a brow, asking for an explanation.

I looked at Alice as she also gives me a telepathically equivalent of a tehee.

"Hmmm I like that accent. Anyway, try to remember to cast the Memory Alteration spell next time. Wouldn't want you to be a government genuina pig."

It seems that Jeanne is somehow happy that Moriarty called her mother… I won't question it. And then Jeanne hugged me…

"But I'm glad you're ok… I couldn't bear to lose you one more time…."

The last part is nearly silent, but Moriarty picked it up and relayed it to me…

"GROUP HUG!"

And… Alice also jumps into the hug…

*cough cough*

"AH Mother Maria! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!"

"A little sailor told me that you're finding new ways to skip school."

Before Maria finishes her sentence, I can see Alice sprinting out from the window, while another blur chases after her…

Yep not my problem anymore…

*knock knock knock*

"Come in."

Jeanne answered the door. It seems that it's a group of doctors.

"Are you the lad who bring in both those girls?"

"Yes."

"Do you by any chance know who their guardian is?"

"Nope."

"Ok. Sorry for taking your time, Please rest at least a few days."

A few days? Nice. Not having to go to the bar is also nice… I just jinxed myself didn't I?
