The entire room stood in an overwhelming stillness, so profound that the softest breath could echo like a shout.

Julius's eyes widened to their limits as his gaze locked on Mereoleona, his expression caught somewhere between astonishment and disbelief.

His thoughts spiraled. A child? With Asta? But… she's older… How? When? What?!

Meanwhile, Alex's reaction was much different. His lips curled into a broad grin as his surprise quickly turned into delight.

"So, it's confirmed?" His voice carried an almost childlike excitement. "Well, I couldn't care less if it's a boy or a girl—it'll be our child. But if I had to choose, a little version of you sounds like an adventure worth having."

"Hahaha! Of course, you'd say that," Mereoleona replied with her trademark grin, the fire in her eyes blazing with pride. "I wouldn't mind a boy, but if you're hoping for a girl, let's see if fate decides to humor you."

Her gaze shifted to Julius, who still appeared shell-shocked, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. Finally, she raised a brow and smirked. "What's with that look, old man? Never seen a woman have a kid before?"

Julius snapped out of his stupor, forcing an awkward smile as he scratched the back of his neck. "I-I wasn't expecting… this. When did you two even—?"

Alex and Mereoleona exchanged amused glances before breaking into laughter. Mereoleona patted Julius on the shoulder, her grin widening. "You're not that clueless, are you? It was years ago. I had to hunt down this fool and teach him what it meant to keep up with me."

"That's one way to put it," Alex quipped with a smirk.

Julius groaned, rubbing his temples. "You know, I've heard rumors… They say you're close to Noelle Silva and Mimosa Vermillion. Honestly, Alex, you're starting to sound like—"

"A pragmatic man?" Alex interrupted, his tone playful yet confident. "The nobles breed for power. Why shouldn't I? Just imagine the kind of monster this lioness and I are about to bring into the world."

Julius shuddered at the thought, imagining the destructive potential of a child born to two of the kingdom's mightiest warriors.

Ignoring Julius, Alex stepped closer to Mereoleona, his hand instinctively resting on her stomach. His touch was gentle, a stark contrast to his usual brashness. "Looks like your days of reckless battles are coming to an end, lioness."

Mereoleona's fiery grin didn't waver. "Are you worried about me?"

"Not at all," Alex said, shaking his head. "If anything, I've heard pregnant lionesses are even more dangerous. But for the child's sake, I might have to lock you in a room."

Mereoleona laughed, the sound booming like a battle cry. "You think you've got what it takes to cage me?"

Alex's grin turned devilish, and his mana began to ripple around him. "Care to test that theory?"

Without hesitation, Mereoleona released her own fiery mana, the clash of their auras causing the entire tower to tremble violently.

Bang!

The explosive collision of their power sent a shockwave through the room. Julius leaped to his feet in a panic. "Stop it, you two! You'll bring the whole building down!"

The pair turned to Julius, their laughter filling the room as they eased their mana back.

Alex gently pulled his hand away and turned serious, outlining his plans for the near future. After their brief discussion, he bid Mereoleona farewell at the headquarters' entrance. "I'll visit you soon. In the meantime, take care of yourself, alright?"

"Like I need your reminder," she teased, though her smirk softened.

As Alex walked through the streets of the capital, he spotted Secre leaning against a wall, her expression as flat as ever. Beside her stood Nebra Silva, fidgeting nervously.

"Master!" Nebra brightened at the sight of him, her voice filled with relief and excitement.

Alex patted her head affectionately. "Did you finish the task?"

"Yes, Master." Nebra's cheeks flushed as she replied quickly. "I've returned the girl safely to the church."

"Good. Now, go back to your home, pack your things, and move into my mansion. From now on, you'll serve as my personal maid."

"Y-Yes, Master!" Nebra stammered, bowing deeply before dashing off toward the Royal Castle.

Watching her leave, Secre finally spoke. "You're done?"

Alex nodded. "Come. There's somewhere I want to go."

They soon arrived at a small, humble church.

"BIG BRO ASTA!"

A swarm of children rushed toward Alex, their laughter echoing as they surrounded him with glee.

"Miss me?" Alex grinned as he greeted them.

From the church entrance, a familiar figure appeared. Sister Theresa smiled warmly, her relief evident. "Finally found time to visit?"

"Sorry," Alex chuckled sheepishly. "Things have been… hectic."

After helping with repairs and playing with the children, Alex sat with Theresa to catch up. As he recounted his adventures, the elderly nun listened intently, her eyes widening with every detail.

"You can come out now, Secre," Alex said suddenly, glancing at the window.

With a flutter of wings, Secre transformed from her bird form and landed beside him, offering Theresa a polite nod. "I didn't mean to intrude."

"Nonsense, child." Theresa stood and pulled Secre into an embrace.

Caught off guard, Secre froze, her body stiff and unprepared for such affection.

"Thank you," Theresa said softly, her voice brimming with sincerity. "For protecting the children of this kingdom for so many years."

"I…" Secre's voice faltered, her throat tightening.

Memories of centuries spent alone flooded her mind—years of sacrifice, pain, and isolation. She had endured it all without expecting recognition, but in this moment, those words pierced through her defenses.

Tears streamed down her face as she clung to Theresa, her sobs breaking free. For the first time in centuries, she allowed herself to feel.

Alex watched silently, a soft smile tugging at his lips. Finally, the weight she carried was beginning to lift.
