"No, we just worked together as colleagues," I looked at Bobby and said, "Right, Bobby?"
"Yeah, we knew nothing about him."
"But how did you escape unscathed? Were you leading them to us?" Amy Lee raised her right hand, now with the pistol pointing at me.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I shook my head with my fingers massaging the side of my forehead, then I stared at her, shouting, "After what we went through, are you accusing me of being one of them?"
"To hell with you, you bitch!" Bobby, like a powder keg suddenly exploding, kicked the campfire into Amy Lee's face.
The flame forced her to dodge.
I seized the chance and lunged at her, giving her no time to react.
She fell to the ground; I stomped on her hand and got the pistol off her.
I pointed the pistol at her.
Sea Snake Fang, who was aiming his pistol at me, stopped.
"Bang!"
I fired without hesitation.
He clutched his chest, dropped to the ground, his legs twitching briefly before going still.
"No! What have you done! He was like a father to me!" Amy Lee cried out, stretching out her hand trying to grab my leg and bring me down.
"Stop!" I shouted at her, kicking her head.
She took the blow and went unconscious.
I lowered my hand, took a deep breath, and shot her.
Firecracker Tan, seeing what had happened, reached into his backpack, warning us not to get any closer.
Bobby took the pistol from Sea Snake's hand, moved to a spot perpendicular to my position.
This way, one of us could make a move when Firecracker Tan's focus was on the other.
Just as we were taught in the Army.
It's all about flanking and flanking.
"Now, there are two of us. Do you think you can kill both of us at the same time?" I shrugged my shoulders as I said it.
I took a step towards Firecracker Tan.
He took his hand out of his backpack, wound his arms like a baseball pitcher, and threw something at me.
I ducked to the side, and then…
Nothing happened; he was out of his glass jar bombs.
Bobby didn't waste any time, immediately shooting at Firecracker Tan.
"Wow, Sam, we did it. How dare they think we are traitors."
Bobby offered me his hand; I took it and got up.
I brushed the dirt off my pants, looked up, then with my hands cupped around my mouth, I shouted, "Clement, if you are listening, let us join you.
"You'll need my expertise to find the site. We are willing to take only half a share."
We waited for an answer.
There was only the crackling sound of the scattered flames and the cold air lingering in the nighttime.
After a while, I saw some dark silhouettes slowly emerge.
When they got close, their faces glowed with the warm light from the flames.
It was them, Clement and his party.
Clement, with his arms wide open, grinned widely, then said, "Monsieur Sam, welcome aboard."
I also opened my arms wide, waiting for him to approach, and waiting for the right moment.
Seeing that everyone was off guard, I shouted, "Now!"
All the team lying down suddenly stood up and ran behind me.
This sudden turn of events caught Clement and his party off guard.
"Ha. I've always wanted to do this," Bobby said with a grin.
He took out something in both hands from his khaki pants pocket, threw it at Clement and his party.
Me and Bobby quickly ducked.
They couldn't see what was being thrown, so they just stood and watched.
"Boom!"
An explosion erupted after the first object hit the ground.
Then another "Boom!"
Two glass jar bombs in a row.
The shockwave hit me in the chest; I had to shout out loud to ease the pain.
I shook my head to bring back my senses, then cried out, "Let's finish them!"
Amy Lee and Sea Snake Fang took our pistols and rushed forward.
Crystal Siti was lying down, dead from the explosion.
Clement was kneeling, head down with a pool of blood he had spat out on the ground.
The Lawrence brothers were wounded, with cuts from the glass shrapnel.
Big Lawrence covered his neck, with blood oozing from the wound.
Small Lawrence lost his mind when he saw this and came at us.
Sea Snake Fang wasted no time, shot at his forehead.
Small Lawrence dropped dead immediately.
Seeing that his brother died, Big Lawrence couldn't care about his wound anymore.
His eyes turned red, filled with all the anger.
"Die!" Big Lawrence tackled and took down Sea Snake Fang.
With the sudden impact, Sea Snake Fang's pistol dropped by the side.
Big Lawrence sat on Sea Snake Fang, with both of his hands choking him.
Blood dripped onto Sea Snake Fang's face, making it a sea of red.
Sea Snake Fang kept his cool, held his fingers together like a knife, stabbed it into Big Lawrence's neck wound.
"Argh!" The pain was too much for Big Lawrence.
He let go of Sea Snake Fang's neck and got Sea Snake Fang's hand out of his neck.
Sea Snake Fang didn't waste any time; he twisted his body and picked up the pistol by the side.
"Bang!"
A shot from the chin went straight through to the top of the head.
Big Lawrence's hands dropped; his body collapsed onto Sea Snake Fang.
Amy Lee on the other side had her pistol pointed at Clement's head.
She bent down, got close to Clement and said, "Monsieur Clement, I assure you I do not have time. I am not happy; you can now go to hell to make me happy!"
After that, she squeezed the trigger, "Bang."
Clement dropped dead.
I made a note to myself never to cross her; what she said to Clement was the same as when I met Clement at her hotel room.
She is certainly good at remembering all the little details.
Someday, when you make her angry, you'll never know when she will pay you back.
In cold blood.
Now that everyone has been taken care of, Kurnawan was the only one left.
