Clay looked at him up and down. He was wearing black tight pants and a pale blue shirt. He had a strange red coloured rope going up and was attached to his one ear. To her, he looked very strange because she had never seen anyone like him.
But her attention was distracted when she saw something move from the corner of eyes. It was a wild boar that was heading towards them and he didn't look friendly. She quickly got defensive and grabbed her bow and arrow.
Putting an arrow in place on her bow, she aimed it at the boar and shot it past Rowan's ear.
"CLIMB!" she yelled at him as she grabbed another arrow.
It took him a moment before he realized that she wasn't aiming for him, so he turned around to see what she was aiming at. When he saw that it was a wild boar heading his way, adrenaline kicked in and he instinctively ran towards a tree.
Clay shot another arrow at the boar and ran in the other direction so the boar's attention was on her and not him. It worked, and the boar charged at her aggressively.
Rowan climbed the tree and looked at Clay to help her when he saw the boar about to hit her head on.
"Look out!" he warned her.
He looked in shock and amazement at what she did next.
Clay jumped and did a flip when it was close enough to her. While upside down in the air, she grabbed its ears tightly and dragged her body against it and sat on it. She clenched her teeth tightly and bared it while clamping both her legs tightly against his body.
"What the?!" Rowan said in shock as he saw her riding the boar.
The boar also noticed that she was on top of it so it jumped around aggressively to get her off of itself, but she was holding him tightly. She wrapped one of her arms tightly around its neck while lowering her body onto the boars. With her other hand, she grabbed her knife from her waist and stabbed it on his head with all her might.
The mighty animal shrieked in pain and after a brief struggle, it fell down on the ground lifelessly.
Rowan looked at her, speechless. He was amazed by her every move. She was like a brave and ferocious lioness.
Clay made sure it was dead before she relaxed and took a deep breath. She grinned at the boar happily and got off it.
She patted it.
"Thank you for sacrificing yourself for me. Your death won't be in vain. It will help my family a lot." she told it. "Daddy will be so relieved."
Clauy then suddenly remembered Rowan and went to see if he was okay. She went up to the tree she saw him climb earlier. She looked up and saw him sitting on one of the tree branches. He was looking at her with wide eyes that were filled with amazement.
"You okay?" she asked him.
He nodded slowly, still in awe of her bravery.
"You can come down now. It's dead." She told him, thinking that he was still scared of the boar.
He shook his head to snap out of it, but she thought that he was saying no.
"It really is dead. Look." she told him and threw the knife at its body with extremely good accuracy.
He gulped.
'Overkill. This woman is cool beyond words but she's really scary.' he thought, looking at the knife.
"See? It's not moving." She told him.
Rowan nodded at her.
"I'm coming down." He told her because he didn't want to get her annoyed.
As he climbed down, his foot slipped, and he fell down to the ground on his butt.
He grimaced in pain as he tried not to cry out loud. His eyes filled with tears.
"Ouch." she said, looking at him and made a painful expression. "You okay."
"Yep… give me a minute…" he told her in a strained tone.
She saw that he was holding in the pain, so she pushed him down on the ground. He looked at her with wide eyes, thinking that she was going to take advantage of him.
"Lay down for a while. It'll help with the pain." She told him and saw how dirty his face was.
She got up and went to the river while Rowan felt embarrassed that he actually thought that she was going to take advantage of him.
"Why are you so deep in the forest?" Clay asked him as she tore a small piece from the bottom of her dress.
"I got separated from my group and then I got lost while trying to find them." He told her.
"I have never seen anyone dressed this weird like you." she told him.
He frowned.
"What do you mean?" he asked her.
Clay dipped the cloth in the river and wrung out the excess water. She got up and walked up to him.
"You wear tight clothes and you had a strange rope attached to your ear." she told him and cleaned his face with the wet cloth.
He grabbed her hand and looked at her, surprised.
"What are you doing?" he asked her.
"Your face is covered in dirt." She told him.
"Oh." he said and released her hand.
"You wanna clean yourself?" she asked, handing the cloth to him.
He nodded and took it from her. He wiped his face with it.
"Thank you." he told her and slowly got up. "You've been out of civilization, haven't you?" He asked her because she thought he was dressed weirdly and she didn't know about earphones.
She cocked her head with a confused look on her face.
"What's that? Civa… civee… what you just said." She asked him, which only confirmed his suspensions.
He chuckled at her because as compared to earlier; she looked like a little kid.
"Civilization." He pronounced it slowly for her to understand. "It's a place where a lot of people like you and me who made a lot of progress in life live together."
"What kind of progress?" she asked him out of curiosity.
"Hmmm…" he looked around to find a simpler way to explain it to her. He saw his wristwatch and showed it to her. "You see this? It's how I know what time it is, even when I'm in a dark place for a long time."
She looked at his watch with quite an interest and touched it.
"It looks pretty." She told him.
He smiled and took it off.
"You can have it if you like it." he told her and held it out for her.
"Are you sure?" she asked him with a cheerful expression.
He nodded at her.
"I have more at home." he told her.
She took it from him happily and looked at it like she was given the most precious thing in her entire life.
She was so happy that she suddenly hugged him tightly.
He froze in shock as his heart started beating fast. He gulped. This was the closest he had been to a woman, except his mother.
"Thank you." She told him and leaned away to kiss his cheek.
After giving him a thank you kiss on the cheek, she looked at the watch carefully as Rowan blushed a bright red color. He looked like a tomato.
