Crash

I get out of the truck, slapping a hand on the back cover as I go, so the guys know they can get out. They better not try to come through the house or they'll have me to deal with.

Putting the need for security out of my mind, I circle around to Kelly's side. She's already mostly got the door open, but I pull it wider for her and wait. It's a moment we've had countless times before...but not recently. I wonder if she feels it as strongly as I do. She gives me a nervous smile and her cheeks pink, but she climbs out of the truck and murmurs a simple "Thank you." 

God, she's so beautiful. 

I gesture for her to go into the house first. She's checking her phone as we climb the stairs. I leave her to it, though I want to throw every question I have at her, I want to kiss her, and I want to hear every detail of everything she's done in the past year and a half. But I know I can't. I can't even urge her to speak.
