My Hero Academia: Might Makes Right

Hello everyone! This is my first fanfic so I’m not going to make a proper synopsis. Instead I’ll list a few general points I feel might compel you to read this. 1) I can speak English! No ‘Courting death young masters’ here! 2) The MC will not be an egotistical douche or psychopath like every other MC in the FF’s here. 3) Now stay with me here, later on in the story (it will take a while) there will be romance. Not cringey (hopefully), but a well defined romance. That’s why it will take a while. I am most likely not doing a harem route fyi. I want the romance to mean something. Hard to do that with multiple people. 4) MC will NOT be OP from the beginning (but he still will be strong.). He will have to overcome hurdles, go through pain, and he might not even succeed in the end. He might lose people, he could go insane. I’m trying to make this FF as realistic as possible (as much as one could make a story about superhero’s could). Thank you for reading! Enjoy!

Chapter 5 - First Day Trials!

Chapter 5 - First Day Trials!

One week after the Entrance Exam

I was relaxing during this bright and peaceful morning.

BOOM!

"AHHHH! FIRE, THERE'S A FIRE. SOMEONE CALL THE HEROES! I THINK THERE'S SOMEONE ATTACKING MY SHOP!!"

"…"

Well… as peaceful as any world with super villains would allow it to be.

Taking a healthy bite of an apple slice dipped in peanut butter, I opened the letter that U.A. had sent. A small device rolled out and a hologram of All Might popped out from it.

"I AM HERE... IN A RECORDING!" All Might enthusiastically screamed while posing.

"HAHA, Good Morning Haku! You have performed exceptionally well in this exam, both in the written and combat portion!

"You are probably wondering why I am the one informing you about your score. Well that is because… I SHALL BE TEACHING AT U.A. THIS SEMESTER!"he posed once again.

"Now then, it is my pleasure to say, you have been accepted into U.A., and that too with the TOP SCORE amongst your peers!"

"I, like many others, were impressed by your strength and integrity from this exam young man!

Why integrity you might ask?

Because besides fighting robots in the combat exam, you were graded on your 'heroic spirit' in helping others! A criteria you especially excelled in."

"If you wish to see your specific scores, they will appear in a few seconds after I leave."

"With that out of the way, I cannot wait to see and meet you in class Haku! Always keep striving to be better, with passion, and with vigor, PLUS ULTRA!"

And after that enthusiastic message, he was gone, being replaced with a simple leaderboard. At the top was me, Haku 52 Villain points, 70 Rescue Points. Right below me in second place was Bakugo with 77 Villain Points and 0 Rescue points.

But I wouldn't let my confidence soar with this.

The only reason I almost doubled Bakugo's score and scored above so many others was because I knew about both tests. I still had a lot of training to do if I wanted to be strong enough to protect others.

And just to be sure the storyline was right, I looked further down, and in 8th place:

Izuku Midoriya 0 villain points and 60 Rescue points.

'Good, he made it in.'

**********

The start of the Spring Semester, the first week of April (Monday)

With my new U.A. Uniform on, mask hiding my face, and a one-strapped black backpack on my shoulder, I decided I looked presentable and started to walk to U.A.

A lot of the people who walked by me on my way to school looked at me with eyes of recognition.

It was somewhat caused by the uniform I was wearing (U.A. being Japan's top hero school and all).

But others looked at me because I was pretty recognizable due to my mask. There were always some gossiping old lady's who whispered whenever I walked into a grocery store.

Eventually I had completed my trek to school.

'So this is where I'll be spending the next 4 years of my life', I thought as I reached the grand entrance of U.A. High school.

It truly was a magnificent school that showcased its prestige, and it definitely was a fortress in its own right.

As I stepped through U.A.'s gates, I began noticing other familiar faces that I hadn't seen in the entrance exam.

I could see students like Itsuka Kendo, pulling Monoma by his ear, no doubt due to a rude remark he made towards someone else.

I even saw staff like my soon to be Modern Literature teacher, Cementoss, who also helped build the schools training areas with his quirk.

Walking through the sophisticated, yet simple hallways of U.A., I eventually reached my destination, Class 1-A.

The classroom that had the main cast of the anime, and hopefully some friends I could rely on in the future.

I peeked inside to inspect the classroom and noticed almost everyone had arrived. I think we were only missing Midoriya, Uraraka, Mineta and Kouda.

I pleaded internally, hoping I had replaced Mineta in the classroom.

Mineta was probably one of the most annoying characters from the show. I understand the whole hormonal horny teenage boy trope, but characters like him are what ruin animes in my opinion.

I don't even want to know what witnessing his behavior in real life would be like.

Not wanting to be caught glancing inside the classroom like a weirdo, I stood straight at the door and walked it. Out of curiosity I also activated my quirk to see the colors of everyone's core.

The first person I noticed was Iida scolding Bakugo for reclining his legs onto the desk. He was talking about 'disrespecting the school', which seemed like a leap of logic to me personally.

As I saw Bakugo's core color, I had to freeze and stifle my laughter because it was just waaaay too much of a curveball.

It was an extremely expressive, hot pink color.

Over my 2 years of studying the colors, I found that the color of a core didn't mean anything, but it was still funny to see him have the color he would probably hate the most.

Before I could even regain my composure and introduce myself to the class, Bakugo turned to me yelling "Whatchu lookin at you masked EXTRA!"

Noticing the commotion, everyone paused to look at me.

'Geez, thanks for this situation Bakugo. Not exactly the first impression I wanted'.

It hasn't even been 10 seconds and he was already butting heads with me.

'Well, two could play that game', I mused.

I formed a frown, shifting my mask to portray a rather unpleasant face, while also locking my hands behind my back and slowly saying "I was just caught up in some of my thoughts."

"Thoughts about what huh?!" Bakugo, clearly annoyed, asked.

Stepping closer to him and speaking in a low voice, "My quirk allows me to see the depth of the human soul, their feelings, their personality, their quirk, their likes/dislikes. Essentially allowing me to see a person's inner self."

Bakugo scoffed, "Oh yeah? Sounds like bull to me".

I walked closer, "You think you're the main character don't you? And your quirk ignites nitroglycerin via your sweat doesn't it?".

He looked surprised, but not convinced so I continued.

Then I turned to Iida, Sato, and Ojiro, and said one by one, " you use those engines on your legs to rapidly boost your speed. You use sugar to increase your physical capabilities exponentially. And you… just have a tail that's stronger than a normal limb."

The trio were visibly shocked and nodded their heads, "T-that's right."

Bakugo flinched at that comment, and his whole demeanor shifted as he eyed me waringly.

Taking another step towards him, I said "Did you know, hearing what your own soul's true form is could cripple a person's mind? Knowing what makes you, you, would leave irreparable damage to your own self image…."

Now leaning over him, "Do you still want to know what I was looking at in you, Bakugo?"

"…"

At that, there was an uneasy silence and worried faces throughout the class, and even Bakugo just stared back at me not knowing what to even think. After letting the mood settle for a bit—

"Your soul looked like a cute little bunny Bakugo. Aren't you a little Tsundere."

"…"

Silence took the classroom again, but this time for another reason.

"Pfffft! Hahahaha", I laughed out loud as I shifted my mask back to a genuine smile, and tapped Bakugo's shoulder, "I'm just messing with you bud, you can relax".

And then I started walking towards my seat in the back.

The class looked at each other, realizing that I was joking, and the atmosphere did a complete 180.

"HAHAHA!" Kaminari, Sero, Sato and most of the others laughed along with me.

Even Tokoyami let out a little chuckle, "His inner darkness had surpassed mine in that moment".

Some of the other students were just happy that it was a prank and began to relax like Yaoyorozu.

But on the other side of the spectrum… we had the victim himself—

"YOU LITTLE EXTRA! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!" Bakugo raged while Kirishima tried to hold him back.

But I just ignored him.

Wiping a joyful tear from his eyes, Kaminari said "Dude, you had us all terrified for a sec. That was amazing!"

I replied, "Haha yeah, I'm happy you guys took it so well, it would have been really awkward otherwise".

Kaminari waved his hand in the air, "It was a harmless prank, no one's that stuck-up, except maybe that dude named Iida, he kinda seems uptight".

He continued, "By the way, my name's Denki Kaminari! And my quirk is electrification!" as he raised his left hand letting some sparks out. "What's yours?"

"My name is Haku and —

"WHAT?!" Almost half the class screamed when I replied.

Mina slammed both her hands on my desk, "I knew you looked familiar! The rumors describe you perfectly!"

*Blink* "…" *Blink*

I stared back at her dumbly for a couple of seconds.

"Huh? What rumors???"

I was so confused about how there were already rumors about me.

Kaminari answered my confusion, "Dude, you're like, kinda famous amongst the students right now. Even some of the staff know you. It's because you basically dunked on everyone's score from the entrance exam".

I sighed in relief, 'Oh thank god it's nothing bad'.

Hagakure jumped with her seemingly floating clothes, "yeah yeah, there's even a nickname that the students in your group called you. The 'Angelic Demon'. The student whose mask grinned from ear to ear as he violently smashed robots, while also saving whoever needed help."

"…"

I was left utterly speechless at such a stupid nickname.

'What the hell??' I mean it sounds kind of cool, but I don't know if being known as a demon is a good thing for a hero.

People typically associate demons with people like Bakugo, and I did not want to be associated with him and his anger issues.

Plus they made it sound like I'm hungry for blood or something. Sure I liked fighting, but I wasn't sadistic in any way.

After I regained my composure, "Well, I'm sure the rumors are exaggerated about me. I was just lucky."

Then I noticed Asui in the group, "Oh hey Asui, happy to see you. Guess we both passed and ended up in the same class, what are the odds right?"

She nodded, "Indeed, but it's fortunate we both passed. Also you can just call me Tsuyu since we've already met".

Before I could continue the conversation, Midoriya walked in while talking to Uraraka (more like trying to talk at least. He was just nodding to whatever Uraraka said). And following soon after them was Aizawa sensei, rolling in like a caterpillar in his sleeping bag.

"Alright quiet down everyone, you can call me Aizawa sensei and I'll be your homeroom teacher here at U.A."

What the heck? Class is starting? But Kouda or (hopefully not) Mineta weren't here yet.

I raised my hand, "Sensei, aren't we supposed to have 20 people? Where's the missing student?"

Everyone glanced at the empty seat and started murmuring in agreement.

"There are some issues with their enrollment, but they will be joining the class next week. For now, quickly change into your gym uniforms and head out to the grounds, no questions asked".

'What the hell is going on?' I thought.

All I did was exist, and Kouda/Mineta are already having issues enrolling. Was he in my group for the entrance exam and I just didn't notice him?

Well I've just gotta roll with it for now, not much I can do for them.

***

Once we all changed into our brand new gym clothes, we gathered around Aizawa sensei as he explained what was happening.

"Throughout junior high, you took standard physical tests like the 50 meter dash, grip strength, softball throwing, etc...

But the school didn't let you use your quirk because the government is ignorantly trying to hold back the inevitable.

But now that you're training to be a hero, we need to know your physical limits."

"Haku" Aizawa sensei said while tossing me a soft ball, "What's your usual distance for throwing without your quirk?"

After catching the ball, I answered "around 100 meters. My quirk already gives me a base boost of strength" I explained when I got looks of disbelief.

Nodding back Aizawa said, "Okay, now throw the ball however you want, and you can use your quirk properly this time".

'Alright, guess it's time to show the class the power that earned me that dumb nickname'.

Using my life essence to charge up my body, I muttered while readying my throw,

'Gaiea's Blessing'

"FWOOO!" and the ball flew at an impressive speed, arching a bit, before it began to decelerate as it fell.

Checking his device and showing it to the class, "821 meters. This is what you guys can do when you use your quirks".

"WOAAAAH", the rest of the class yelled in awe.

They were impressed by the score, but they were also excited at the thought of being able to see the improvements of their own personal scores by using their quirks.

"Quiet down all of you, this isn't a game" Aizawa said while bringing the mood down around those who were cheering like children.

"Did you think becoming a hero would be all fun and easy?

Wrong.

Being a hero is extremely taxing, and you need to work hard and train until you're on the brink of death.

As a hero, you need to always be vigilant.

Therefore the student who scores the worst across all of the tests will be expelled".

And most of the class understandably didn't take that too well.

"WHAT!?!"

"HOW COULD YOU EXPEL THE LOWEST SCORING STUDENT. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" They screamed in unison.

Sighing, Aizawa let out a tired voice, "Listen you brats, this is U.A., each teacher is given freedom to teach however we please. And the lowest scoring student will obviously be deemed a hopeless case by me, and thus, kicked out."

"If you want to stay, then utilize your quirks in these tests to give yourself any edge over the others, and secure your spot. Prove that you deserve to be here."

While the others were panicking (except Yaoyorozu since she also knew), I was calm because although that's what Aizawa sensei was saying, he's actually lying.

He was never planning to expel us, he just wanted to give us some motivation.

Except maybe Midoriya because Aizawa didn't like how his quirk broke his body whenever he used it. But Midoriya would prove his determination to change and would be allowed to stay.

After all the tests, I secured 1st place amongst everyone, followed by Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, then Bakugo.

Bakugo was extremely irked at that and kept giving us dirty looks. Especially me.

And Midoriya almost fainted from the shock of getting last place.

Eventually Aizawa sensei had revealed the truth of the test, and some people went ballistic that he out them under that stress, but overall everyone was relieved no one was being expelled.

***

After that eventful morning, we had to take regular classes like any other High School.

Regular studies were extremely boring, but thankfully I didn't have to pay that much attention because 1) I already knew English, so English class was useless to me.  And 2) I've already completed high school in my previous life so most things were just a repeat for me to learn.

So during classes I decided to just train my quirk secretly because I needed my body to catch up to my abilities.

I could easily control life force from my 2 years of practice, but my body still wasn't used to the strain.

So I was imbuing large amounts of life essence into my body every chance I got. And sitting still while doing it was good for focusing.

 - Later in the afternoon -

Mina, stretching while leaning back into her chair, said "Thank God classes are finally done. It's only the first day and I'm already tired of studying".

Kirishima added as he threw a couple of punches into the air, "Yeah, I thought being in a hero school would mean less math and more fighting".

As I was preparing to leave I decided to chime in too, "Yeah, unfortunately the government still prefers if we get a normal education. They need heroes, but it's a backup in case we don't make it through the entire course."

Kaminari cut in, "Oh yeah dude, you didn't get to tell us about your quirk since Aizawa sensei interrupted.

The rest of us know most of our quirks from the quirk assessment, but we didn't see you do anything special for your scores. Do you just have super strength?"

Everyone, including Todoroki, looked over with interest.

I could tell what they were wondering from their faces, 'The student who scored the most points in the Entrance exam, what kind of quirk does he have to get such a result?'

I just shrugged "You guys will just have to see tomorrow during combat class. But my quirk does involve boosting my strength."

'I gotta keep an element of suspense after all', I thought.

Bakugo and the other competitive students were disappointed in not having a direct answer, but the mention of combat class revived the mood that had been previously killed from taking the boring classes.

Multiple conversations broke out about what they thought combat class would be like.

Asui turned to me, Mina, Kirishima, and Kaminari, and asked "What do you guys think the final student will be like?"

Kirishima said while clashing his hardened fists together, "I don't know, but I hope it'll be someone strong to spar with!"

"Hmm, I think someone who can talk to animals would be pretty cool." I added, trying to manifest my hope into the world.

Plus it would be pretty hilarious when they realize I guessed Koda's quirk.

Mina looked at me, "That's oddly specific, is that your dream quirk or something?"

"Nah, just a random guess. But that is something one of my sisters would be interested in".

We all continued to talk on our way out, before we split up outside the school entrance.

I pulled out my phone and texted my family group chat to update them on my first day.

Yuna wanted me to ask Asui if she could lay eggs like a frog, which got her promptly grounded by my mom.

'Yeah, I can't let Yuna meet Asui, EVER.'

**********

 - The following day -

"Finally! Hero Combat Class! I was up all night from the excitement" Kirishima exclaimed.

Tokoyami who sat to my right replied "Indeed. I look forward to finally being able to practice my combat skills. With this, we will steadily head towards being true Pro heroes".

The class was buzzing with excitement, and I was too, when I noticed a peculiar petite girl with white hair that fell to her mid-back, wandering around outside.

Curiously, she also had on white gloves covering her hands.

She peeked into the classroom, much like I did the first day, before she wandered into the class.

Lida walked up to the lost girl, "Excuse me, but may I ask who you are? This is class 1-A, so I think you're in the wrong room. But if you tell me what you're looking for, I can assist you with directions."

Shaking her head, "No, I'm in the right place".

Everyone turned to look at her as she walked to the front of the class and did a quick bow.

"Nice to meet you everyone! My name is Chihiro Izanami, my blood typ is O-, my favorite color is white, my favorite food is ice cream, my favorite pastime is reading fairy tales-"

We all blinked in confusion about this random girl spouting her hobbies.

"-and I'm the 20th student in your class. Hehe" She giggled with a bright smile.

"WHAT?!" We all screamed.

But after closer examination, the class had come to another observation, "She's cute!" thought most of the girls and guys.

Then the entire class got up to welcome her, asking about why she couldn't make it yesterday, or how lucky she was to miss the emotional trauma Aizawa sensei put the class through.

But I was in the back, still shocked. 'Where the hell is Kouda or Mineta?!'

Who is this girl? I mean, no insult to them, but Kouda/Mineta not being here doesn't change the plot in any way from what I know. But still, this girl never appeared in the anime!

I walked closer to greet her like everyone else.

'Maybe she's a side character I don't remember?'

Upon closer inspection, she had bright sapphire blue irises in the center of her round eyes. The shade of its color looked so pure and perfect, that it was hardly believable.

(A/N: You'll see an AI image of her in the next chapter)

I waved my hand, "Hey! My name is-"

"Haku, right?", Chihiro finished while looking at me with curiosity.

"Uhhh…yeah. How'd you know? Don't tell me it was the rumors"

"Hehe, yeah it was. The top scorer on the exam had a black oni mask like yours, it wasn't too hard to put two and two together".

"Fair enough" I shrugged. "By the way, Sensei told us you were supposed to come next week. Why are you here so early?"

She giggled again with a mischievous smile. "Yeah, I was supposed to come next week, but I didn't want to wait that long, so I asked daddy for some help. And here I am."

'Dang, I guess her dad is someone from the government or high up to be able to pressure U.A.'

I was extremely curious about her so I asked, "Who's your d-"

But before I could continue my question, we heard the sudden but iconic-

"I AM HERE-

-WALKING THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR NORMALLY!".

And we all turned as All Might dashed in wearing his silver age outfit.

'Bruh, why do these teachers always interrupt me?' I thought.

"Greeting my students!" All Might exclaimed as he walked to the front of the room. I also didn't miss the quick glance he gave Midoriya.

As anyone would expect, most of the class was going nuts.

Those who could actually control their emotions were Todoroki, Bakugo, Yaoyorozu, Tokoyami, and Chihiro".

"Oh my God, it's All Might!" Mina shouted

"I can't believe he's actually going to be our teacher!" Hagakure followed.

This was the first time I saw All Might in person, so naturally I used my quirk.

And from what I saw, even if I didn't know he was injured from the anime, I would definitely be able to now.

His life force had a disturbing twist around the gaping wound All For One had given him. It caused his life force to struggle and lag where it should have flowed properly.

But I had to say, despite his injuries, his core essence was simply breathtaking.

It was a bright gold, that shined almost as bright as the golden particles of regular life essence.

Not only that, but there were dashes of other colors that flickered through his core essence, red, green, purple, blue, yellow, and more.

When I compared it to Midoriya's core essence, Midoriya's was similar. He had the golden core too, but his was a more concentrated color of gold, and the other wisps of colors never flickered away like All Might's.

Now if this wasn't a clear indicator of one for all, then I don't know what is.

But this was excellent news because now I had the perfect excuse for knowing about Midoriya's connection to All Might.

Once everyone settled down, All Might said "It seems you've already met your new classmate, Chihiro. That saves us some time. Now before we begin combat training, there is another important matter we need to settle first to become pro heroes…

YOUR COSTUMES!"

And he pressed a remote controlled button that opened up multiple lockers on a nearby wall that held suitcases with numbers corresponding to each of our seats. Everyone shouted in excitement again, even Bakugo and Todoroki looked thrilled.

"NOW EVERYONE, PUT ON YOUR COSTUMES! IT'S TIME FOR COMBAT CLASS!
