The Setting

Right in the center of the multiverse, there is an ancient and holy land where beings of ethereal essence also referred to as Gods by the mortals reside. This city, also known as Urbe Deorum, Olympus, or simply 'The City of the Gods', is the center of power in the multiverse. It is the responsibility of the Gods to protect all the worlds in the multiverse from beings that are no longer within the realm of mortals such as the demon king and his forces and other similar beings that use the life force of the mortals to reinforce their own along with their powers, contrary to the Gods that use the power of faith to accomplish the same, or, phenomenons occurring due to outside interferences that can effectively destroy worlds along with their inhabitants. This results in them receiving the power of faith from the mortals which helps them in prolonging their lives along with their prowess, as a result of which, they have long ago established their hegemony in the multiverse.

Due to their constant suppression and in due time annihilation, if done nothing, by the Gods, these outside forces or the Irregulars, as they call themselves, once united under the same banner in order to attack the Gods and end their so-called tyranny once and for all. This resulted in a war that shook the multiverse and destroyed countless worlds. This war, also known as the 'Paramount War', damaged both sides severely. While the Irregulars were almost annihilated, the Gods themselves suffered staggering losses as well and while the Irregulars could make up their numbers with time, the Gods did not have this privilege as gods being born is a rare occurrence and mortals ascending to godhood is even rarer. This resulted in a truce between both sides despite the gods holding the advantage in the war.

The terms of the negotiations entailed that the Gods would not directly interfere with the matters of the mortal world and could only indirectly send their help in the form of Heroes - mortal trans-migrators with powers granted by the Gods, to help the mortals who were being invaded by the Irregulars. The magnitude of the powers granted depends upon the level of threat present in that world. Each of the Heroes would be guided by a God on their journey to rid the world of the Irregulars. These terms were favorable for both sides. The Irregulars would only have to deal with the Heroes who were far less powerful than the Gods and they would be able to fight back while the Gods themselves would not have to fight themselves which would, in turn, reduce their mortality rates and help them recuperate their numbers. The Heroes themselves would not truly die as their souls would be preserved and would be reincarnated afterward.

This is the story of one such Hero who completed his mission and was reawakening back on Olympus. He could not wait to return to his homeworld to be reunited with his family. Alas, as fate would have it, it was no longer possible.
