Family dinner 5: Know you better

Max just looked at his grandfather in silence. He knew he was just stating facts, but what can he really do? What can he say to his mother when she asks him to be polite to her guests? What should he say when the man he loves tells him he does not want to disclose their relationship? Will it help him to speak his mind or show his feelings?

He could not imagine saying no to Trevor even once. He sighed, understanding what his grandfather was getting at by saying that. Their relationship would not work if he stayed like this, that was for sure. Always saying 'yes' to your partner was not a solution if you did not agree with the decision yourself, because you'd be playing it out in your head, feeling kind of frustrated even if you were willing to do it for your love.

Sure, he always wanted to make Trevor happy, but was that the best way to do it? On the other hand, he was afraid that the Omega would leave him if he did not.

"Do not worry, he will not leave you because you are yourself," his grandfather said, somehow knowing what his grandson was thinking about.

"I... I understand," Max answered his grandfather hesitantly.

"Well, the problem is not whether you understand, but whether you can do it. At some point, you are going to have to learn to say no, because that's not healthy behavior. Good thing it only happens with people you love and who love you ..." Maxwell looked at him worriedly. He was afraid that Max would get hurt one day because of that.

After that little talk, Max returned to his room, adjusting his mood beforehand so Trevor would not be worried. When he entered the room, he found Trevor looking at a picture in a daze. He even had a few tears on his cheeks. Max looked at him, frowning, and approached him silently. Looking at the picture that could put Trevor in this state and sighed.

"When I was thirteen, I had a little accident and ended up like this," Max said, taking a seat on his bed.

"What happened?" Trevor was snapped out of his reverie when he heard Max's voice.

"I do not know ... I do not remember ... Not important." He said, but Trevor was still glued to the picture. "Come here!" Max called him softly. Trevor walks over and sat down next to Max, still holding the picture. Max took it from him and put it on his nightstand. He didn't know why, but he felt the urge to take Trevor in his arms, and he did, petting Trevor to calm him down.

"I did not know you loved me so much that you would go so far as to cry just looking at a picture of me!" Max teased the man in his arms with a sly smile.

Hearing this, Trevor broke the hug and looked at Max sheepishly, "I was not there to cry. I don't know why I was crying myself, looking at this."

"Well, doesn't that mean your love is even deeper?" Max teased again, laughing.

"Your childhood seems very vivid looking at these pictures," Trevor said, lying on the bed not minding his man teasing.

Max followed suit and lay down right next to him. "Yeah, I guess you could say that, I have nothing to complain about. I actually have a happy childhood, my parents went out of their way to make me happy, if I can put it that way. I got everything I wanted and since I have a good brain and was good at sports, I was basically first in everything. This made my parents even happier to spoil me! My late teenage years were a bit gloomier, but even so, it was not too bad either"

"Yeah, I could see that looking at the pictures"

"What about you? What was your childhood like? As sassy as you are today, I bet you were not a quiet kid" Max asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Actually, I was a really good kid back then, I was quiet and sweet. Growing up with both my parents, everything was good, my mom was really good to me, I was like the most important person in her life. My dad... " Trevor paused after saying those two words, he remembered that the man was not really a father in his life, he cleared his voice and continued "Alanis Porter my genitor was good to me too... Well, he did not have much choice since he had to fake his love to take over my grandfather's company. Besides, back when we were kids, we did not know the difference between an Alpha and an Omega, so I have no problem being with others at school too. it was the happiest moment of my childhood"

"Did it get complicated for you later? Is that why you trained your body like that?" Max could imagine the difficulties Trevor had faced as a teenage Omega. He'd seen what it was like at school and had always stood up for them when they were bullied in front of him.

"When I was twelve, apparently I was in an accident, but I don't remember anything about it," Trevor said, looking somewhat distressed at the picture of Max in the hospital. Max also glanced unconsciously at the picture.

They both seemed to have been in an accident the same year and could not seem to remember anything.

Max thought, 'Was it when I was bonded to him? Could it be that we had the same accident together? ' But he did not dwell on it and decided not to think about it, figuring it did not matter anyway since they were already together.

"When I woke up, I was already in J country with my mother and grandfather. After I found out about my new illness, my grandfather started training me. Actually, even as a child, I didn't look like a typical Omega. Before developing my scent, I thought I was a Beta... Then in high school, it got complicated. First, I was an Omega, and second, I always stay away from people because of my illness, so the Alphas started picking on me. Luckily, I was good at fighting!"

Hearing that, Max could not help but take Trevor's hand, sensing that it was difficult for Trevor to talk about his history. He squeezed his hand tightly to give him a sense of comfort. Trevor looked into those beautiful golden eyes and felt a sense of security and could feel Max's warmth. He looked up at the ceiling and decided to continue with his story.

"Unfortunately for me, there was this guy who always got a kick out of teasing me for rejecting his advances! Every day he finds a way to harass me, calling me names, whore and all... One day I was alone with him and when we were arguing, he tore my clothes and touched me... I have never reacted that bad before, I almost died that day."

Max looked at Trevor, who had teary eyes from sadness. He had had the best childhood, he could ask for and when he heard Trevor's storey he could not help but feel sad. He took his baby in his arms and gave him a small kiss on the forehead. He released his pheromones to make Trevor feel more comfortable. Trevor rested his head on Max's strong chest and took his time letting Max's pheromones envelop him.

"After this day, I change school and myself too. I promise myself that I will not be weak and I will face my illness and my new life bravely. I even managed to make friends at the new school. My days at Uni were peaceful, ignoring the fact that people were trying to put me in their bed daily," Trevor concluded.

Max smiled when he heard that and remembered that he was actually the first for Trevor.

Max tightened his hug as he played with Trevor's soft hair always smelling the air. He loved the smell of their pheromones combines, for him it was the best in the world.

"I miss this," Trevor said out of the blue...

"What?" Max was taken aback.

"Your hug, your hand in my hair, your touch. I don't like putting distance between us after a little argument..."

"I didn't," Max exclaimed, he hadn't put any distance between them, to him it was Trevor who was acting strangely.

"Yes, you have! You have been avoiding me all week," Trevor whined.

"Babe, I really haven't ... Think about it, what have I done out of the place this week? I went to work and school like always. I always got out before you did. I came back every night to you, ate dinner with you, like always..."

"And then you get busy in your study room and ignore me!" Trevor knew he was being ridiculous, but he also knew that even if Max had not changed much in his habits, something had changed after their argument.

Max sat down and looked at Trevor and felt really wrong, "Babe, you could have come in like you always do! The room is big enough for the two of us. Instead, you prefer to draw in your room."

Trevor could not comment on that, it was true, he could have gone and teased him like he always did, but he chose not to. Because he was afraid of making him angry.

"You didn't hug me while sleeping for a week! You didn't touch me at all" Trevor sat up as well and looked at Max angrily.

"You didn't do that either! Why are you blaming me here? You usually pounce on me when you want me! You have not done it for a week! Am I supposed to understand that you didn't want me?" Max said in frustration, not understanding why he was the bad guy in the story, he started to get angry.

"I was scared!!!" Trevor yelled out, which confused Max even more.
