A dark expression was cast over Rune's face as he stared down at the corpses of the guppy girls. They had tried to do something horrible to him, but he did not fault them for it. They were made to be that way, and they did not deserve to be killed in such a manner.
By this point, a total of twenty mercenaries had gathered, and they were not alone. Several humanoid creatures were beside them, their skin black and rubbery–Abominations. They resembled Sahagin but with fewer fins and sharp curved horns protruding from the sockets where their eyes should be. Their webbed hands were tipped with twelve-inch long claws, each one thin like the blade of a knife.
Rune's expression was blank as he turned to face them. His eyes were wide and utterly devoid of emotion, yet a silent fury raged within, and some of the mercenaries took a step back without even realizing it.
