Village Day

Characters: Grandmother, Alex, Ruth and Antoinette

Antoinette calls Ruth and informs her of the situation.

Dialing.... Dialing.... Dialing....Dialing.....

Antoinette: Pick up the call, Pick up the call.... (No answer)

She dials again.....and Ruth answers the call.

Ruth: Hi Antoinette were you able to pick Wisdom up from school?

Antoinette: Ruth!!!!!!(She screams bitterly)

Ruth: Wait take it easy. What is it??? (You scared me)

Antoinette: I picked him up from school, we came home and I made lunch for us...and....

Ruth: And what!!!!!! (She screams impatiently) talk to me.

Antoinette: I don't know. I... I.... I... (She keeps stammering)

Ruth: What happened to my son??!!!!!(Ruth becomes more worried)

Alex takes the phone from her.

Alex: Antoinette this is Alex what is the problem??

Antoinette: We were eating and he.... I don't know what happened again. (She continues lamenting on phone)

Alex: So where is he? What is wrong with my son? (Alex screams on phone)

Antoinette: We are at the hospital. (She speaks in low tone)

Alex: Hospital!!!!!!!! How!!!! When!!!!!!!! Why????? (He asks questions aggressively)

Antoinette: I don't know.... (She weeps)

Alex: Don't worry we are coming right away!!!!!!

Antoinette: Okay...

Alex: Which hospital?????

Antoinette: Greenhouse hospital.

Alex: Okay we'll be there in no time.

Alex rushes to call grandmother and informs her of the situation.

Alex: Mother please we have to go now!!!!! (He speaks impatiently)

Grandmother: Aaaaaah my in-law why are you panting like that?

Ruth: Mother, we just had a call from the city that Wisdom has been rushed to the hospital. (She cries as she talks)

Grandmother: Hey!!!!!! What happened???? (Grandmother sorrowfully laments)

Alex: Mother we don't really know what the problem is unless we get there.

Grandmother: Then let me go with you.

Alex: No!!! Please mother stay back and let's go. We'll let you know what the problem is when we get there.

Grandmother: Are u sure....?

Alex: Mother extend my greetings to Opayin Afrifa.

Ruth: (Walks up and down restless) Mother stay safe. We will call you.

Alex: Eeeerm (Alex Checks his time) we are running late. Maybe some other time.

Grandmother: Alright. I'll tell him you came around. Have a safe journey. Please drive with care. Good bye!!!!!!

Alex and Ruth: (Bye....they both respond) Alex drives crazily!!!!!

Grandmother: Hey!!! Drive safely oh my in-law. God save my grandson. (She laments)
