Cupid's Arrow To My Heart

Damon slowly opened the door to his mother's bedroom, hoping to find solace in her presence. But Lady Emily's stare was icy, and she looked at him with resentment as he approached her.

"I regret everything, mother" Daemon said, his voice shaking with emotion. "I wronged her, I ignored your warnings, and I am sorry for it." Lady Emily's expression didn't change, her face had an icy expression. The silence between them was heavy and oppressive. Finally, she spoke with venom.

"Sorry? You think sorry can fix everything you've done? Eleanor is gone, your wife is gone, you have no family. All you have is the creature from the pleasure house you had a bastard with."

Tears streamed down her cheeks, but only because she missed Eleanor. For Daemon, she was unyielding. Daemon felt overwhelmed with sadness, his heart was aching with regret. He reached out his hand to comfort her, but she snatched her hands away.

"Get out!" she demanded,

"I do not want to see your face. You are a bringer of sorrow." She spat. Daemon's eyes pleaded with her but his mother was unforgiving.

"My mother, do not hate your son like this." He said,

"I miss my wife, I miss her so much, but she did all this. She made me do all this. Why do you only blame me?" he continues after a pause.

"I do not believe she is dead. I want my wife back, I have looked everywhere for her, I can't find her. I miss the colors she brought to my life, I have to find her and I need your help." Hearing this, Lady Emily laughed so loud, the first time she had laughed in a long time.

Her laughter was cold and brazen.

"Dead or alive, she is free from you and your whore, and that's all that matters. You do not deserve her. You never did." Daemon stood up and looked down on his mother for a while. After a while of silence, something inside Daemon snapped. He slammed his fist on the wall behind his mother, making Emily jump.

His eyes burned with fury and his pupils dilated with rage. For a moment, he wanted to strangle his mother for her cruel words and cold behavior. But he stopped himself, his hand hovering mid-air. Instead, he smirked, there was a cold and calculated smile spreading across his face.

He kissed his mother's shaking hands and her forehead.

"I will find Eleanor; you don't have to worry. I will bring her back and we shall be one big happy family again." He holds her face with his bleeding fist.

"You will help me find her. If you don't, I will end this family line myself." Lady Emily's eyes widened in fear as Daemon turned and left her room. She looked at the hole he made in the wall, the sight of it made her tremble even more.

Victoria, who had been eavesdropping on their conversation, stood frozen in fear. She knew her newly found status was at stake, her son's future was uncertain. Daemon's transformation into a monstrous and violent version was something she didn't foresee. Daemon stands before Lady Elena's door.

He knocked on the door, but instead of waiting for an invitation, he pushed it open and stepped inside the house. Lady Elena, caught off guard, blocked his path, maintaining a stern expression.

"You are not welcome here. Leave now!" she said firmly. But Daemon didn't care. He gently moved her aside and entered the house while his eyes scanned for any sign of Eleanor.

"Where is she? Where is my wife?" he asked politely, but with much urgency. Lady Elena's anger turned to confusion. Why was Daemon suddenly looking for Eleanor? What is going on? Daemon quickly noticed her expression and he feigned tears.

"My dear mother, I have erred," he said with sincerity.

"Our marriage started off as a repayment of debt, but I realized what you gave to me a little too late. Eleanor is my life; I love her and I am miserable without her. I really need my wife back." Lady Elena's conflicted emotions swirled like the wind.

She was relieved that Daemon wished to reconcile with her daughter, but she had no idea where Eleanor was. She had searched everywhere, but Eleanor seemed to have vanished.

"You finally came to your senses," she hugs him,

"I am so happy. But I do not know where she is. If I did, even right now, I would bring her back to you myself." She said, Daemon's anger flared, but he masked it with a charming smile.

"Not knowing your daughter's whereabouts don't speak well of you as a mother, does it?" Lady Elena hesitated, unsure of how to respond to Daemon's jab.

"Eleanor only has one friend. Richard, you've met him, I think. She never had others, never gone anywhere else. I miss my daughter; I want her here too. It scares me to not know where she is. It scares me even more to hear the folks try to convince me she is dead."

Daemon's disappointment was not hidden, but he hugged Lady Elena and thanked her.

"If anyone should ever tell you that my wife is dead, do let me know. I will place their heads on a spike." He comforted her, assuring her he would find Eleanor by all means. Lady Elena's heart was filled with joy, a rainbow of hope arched over her doubts.

She wanted to ask about Daemon's plans for Victoria, but she held her tongue, bidding Daemon farewell instead. Mrs. Cleef crossed paths with Daemon as he departed Lady Elena's estate, his haste made her curious. She enters the house and finds Lady Elena in a jubilant mood, sipping wine and dancing with joy.

"What's the occasion?" Mrs. Cleef asked. Lady Elena shared details of her conversation with Daemon, and Mrs. Cleef was stunned.

"What changed?" She asked, puzzled. Lady Elena waved her hand dismissively.

"Oh, I don't care about the boring details. All that matters is that Daemon wants Eleanor back, and he's desperate." Mrs. Cleef's concern heightened,

"Don't you think it's unusual for him to be so eager and longing for her after all this time? It's been years." Lady Elena chuckled.

"Oh, calm your old nerves. Daemon is smitten with Eleanor. Any man would be enchanted by her, even after so long, he has realized his mistakes and he wants her back. Stop asking so many questions and celebrate with me."

Mrs. Cleef grabbed the feathered pillow on the floor and placed it on the sofa.

"And what about the bandage on his fist? Do you know what might have happened?" Lady Elena brushed it off.

"Boys will be boys. Daemon probably got into a fight at the pub, punched a wall, a face, who cares? I don't."

Mrs. Cleef gave Lady Elena a cautionary gaze.

"There is a child involved. Call him a bastard or what not, it doesn't change the fact that he is Daemon's child. This won't be as simple as you think." Lady Elena gave a mischievous smile.

"Ah, yes, the whore who thought she could take my daughter's place and the bastard. Eleanor is Daemon's wife; she has more rights than any whore and a million bastards. When my jewel returns, I'll personally ensure that whore and her bastard are removed from that house."

Mrs. Cleef was stunned by Lady Elena's venomous tone and she held her tongue from saying anything further.

Lady Victoria rushed to Joanne's home; her face itched with worry.

"Is our plan in motion yet?" she asked with piqued curiosity. Joanne's confusion was evident.

"Yes, the plan is underway. What's wrong, are you okay? You've been patient, what happened? Why the sudden haste?" Victoria's voice trembled.

"Daemon has lost his mind. It has been a complete show of insanity! He is searching for Eleanor, desperate for any information. It's like he's been struck in the heart by a cupid's arrow. This is beyond love. It's an obsession." Joanne tried to calm her down.

"Victory is near, I promise, our plan will work and your problems will be no more." But Victoria reminded her.

"Your last plan almost got me killed! If you had executed it properly, I would have been expecting another child, and Daemon wouldn't have the time to be fixated on Eleanor." Joanne's expression turned cold.

"Another child? How many would you have to keep him fixated on you? Twelve?" she chuckled.

"Now, you will calm down, go back home and focus on proving your value to Daemon. If you have any. The men I have paid will ensure Eleanor is dead. Her body will be returned, and you will have your place by Daemon's side forever. No competition, no worries."

Despite Joanne's assurance, Victoria's mind still raced with doubts. While they stood there, Richard walked in, greeted Victoria and asked about her wellbeing which she responded nervously.

He tries to invite Victoria inside but Joanne informs him that she was already on her way out. Victoria leaves in a rush.

"I never knew you two were friends." Richard said to Joanne. "You only know so much about Eleanor, and little to nothing about your wife." Joanne responds rudely and walks away.
