Chantless Magic: Part 2

We've started the training with simple mind images by imagining every word I say and they must picture it clearly. Its pretty simple for me since I'm from earth, when I imagine fire, I see first fuel and oxygen, then it combusts due to rapid friction and fire is then produced.

The students imagine fire as something produced from heat and an effect from a magic technique. Due to their lack of knowledge as to what fire is, their picture of fire is blurry, I can only guess that alchemists and other researchers are the only ones that know what fire is.

"Professor, this is hard!", Lyla says as she pants.

"It would be obviously hard at first but as soon as you're able to picture it perfectly, chantless magic would be easy. Chantless magic is the manifestation of your will and thought, that is why a perfect picture of what you want to appear is needed.

While they focus on mastering it, I'll go take a peek on what the other classes are up to. I went to the garden room where they learn nature magic and where they keep mutated plants due to being exposed to mana. I kept my aura and presence so that I don't disturb anybody when I peek on to other classrooms.

I went next to the combat room where students practice their spells in battle with automated golems. The students would have to fill the mana core first with mana and a certain attribute, then the golem would then be able to move and cast out magic of the attribute it has been injected with. The golems have levels from 1-10 of different toughness and intelligence, the level 10 can resist a magic technique coming from a 6 magic circle mage.

I wonder how that girl is doing, I hope she's not recklessly using the techniques I taught her. Although those techniques that I taught her were disciple level techniques but its still powerful techniques back in the game.

The next day had now come but the students were still not able to do it. I showed them how fire is made without the use of mana, to give them a clear picture how fire was originally made before mana was even found. And just a few hours, the students were now able to cast fire without chanting or the use of runes, they only need now is to be able to use complicated magic techniques by will and without invoking any words. 

I could feel the gaze of the headmaster on us, the formation that I made was just a weak one, just enough to hide our presence from the other students outside the formation. 

A week had now passed and my students are now able to use 3 circle magic techniques, their training was taking effect and just a bit more and their position on the upcoming competition is secured. Lyla, Ahren and Delia, with their great talent had their skills rise, and as a teacher, I wonder how far they'll go.
