He Never Showed Up

The crowd slowly entered the venue. There was less than an hour to go.

Ning Youyou and her friends stood waiting for their partners to arrive. They waited in great suspense.

From time to time, Xiao Lan would check the time on her watch and wonder why they had not arrived yet.

"Damn it; I already told him to be here at 7 pm sharp. It's already eight minutes past seven, and yet he's still nowhere to be seen. I'll definitely complain to the nightclub about him if I get stood up tonight!"

"Xiao Lan, Youyou, look! It's the manager's car!"

Xiao Hong dragged them forward while pointing at the road that led straight to the hotel's entrance.

Following her gaze, they saw a black Benz that was approaching.

After the car made a stop, a man who was a little fat and flabby emerged from the car. He then walked to the passenger's side and opened the door for his lady. 

Su Tingting was dressed in a fiery red gown, completely showing off her fine shape and willowy figure. She put her hand in his and elegantly exited the car.

As soon as they left the car, the parking valet immediately took the car key from him and drove his car all the way to the parking lot.

Su Tingting gently held his arm, but he simply could not keep his restless hand away from her body. Publicly, he was not embarrassed to squeeze her waist a few times before walking into the venue.

The scene came as a shock to Ning Youyou. Obviously, the manager and Su Tingting had been together for quite a while now, but they tended to keep it low-profile in the office. At least, they had never exchanged intimacies in public. 

"What a disgusting fat man! My eyes are getting sore because of the loathsome duo. What's Su Tingting thinking, really? What's in it for her? Money? She's a fine woman but chooses to be with that sort of man. The manager already has a wife." Xiao Lan crossed her arms and looked at the duo in disdain.

Xiao Hong curled her lips in response. Nonetheless, she was actually worried about something else instead. "By the way, why aren't they here yet? We're going to be in trouble if they don't show up!"

"Oh, right!" Xiao Lan was reminded of her own problem. Hurriedly, she took out her phone and dialed a number.

She was glad that the man answered it.

Xiao Lan finally heaved a sigh of relief. "It's all right. Both of them are smart enough not to bail on us. They were caught in traffic and will be here soon," she explained to Xiao Hong, trying to calm her down.

Finally, Xiao Hong was at ease.

About three minutes later, a taxi stopped by the opposite lane, and two robust men emerged from within. They made sure that no one was watching them before hurriedly walking towards the hotel. 

"Here!" Xiao Lan waved at them.

With a smile, one of them said, "Due to the downpour, please pay us the money for the car ride by the time everything comes to an end."

Xiao Lan's face fell when she heard about their request. "All right; behave yourself later, or I'm going to complain about you!" She then put her hand in the arm of the man who seemed a little more muscular.

"Hey!" The other man, who appeared a little skinnier but taller, walked towards Xiao Hong and offered to take her hand in his.

Ning Youyou studied the men who had been carefully selected by Xiao Lan and Xiao Hong to be their partners tonight.

One had a sturdy, muscular physique. The other one was skinnier, but he had a charming smile. His charisma was what girls generally liked.

Based on their looks, they were obviously attracted to different types of men.

Seeing Ning Youyou in a trance, Xiao Lan questioned, "Youyou, what about your date? Why isn't he here yet?"
