Muster Faith

Forgive me for I am unaware of the meaning and display of kindness. This is not a place where my duty is to do right. I don't apologize for my actions, because it's what makes me feel most like myself, rather I'm sorry for how you may look at me after finding out the truth. Bloodshed runs in my family for sport, and for satisfaction. I am what I am, and you may consider it hellish. The things I summon, the things I do...for me, this is all a game and a fun one at that. Unfortunate for you, I'm not a regular person. There comes power in my veins, and a range of abilities I have yet to discover. Are you strong enough to handle it? A troubled kid slowly growing into a true demon?

"Dean, did you complete your mission?"

"Did you have to ask? You know I always do."

"Hmmm."

"Hmmm? What's that supposed to mean?"

"The way you talk to your Mother surprises me everyday."

"I wish I didn't have to talk to you at all, but here we are."

"One day, I'll be gone. You'll miss the hell out of me."

"I could never take the hell out of you. You are hell."

All of a sudden, I hear a weird noise reaching my Mother's vocal chords. Her entire body began to shake strangely as if being possessed.

"IT TOOK ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO NOT THROW YOU INTO THE RIVER THAT DAY!" She slams her fist down onto the wooden table.

"YOU SHOULD'VE! MAYBE THEN I WOULDN'T HAVE TO BE RAISED BY A MOTHER LIKE YOU. DON'T ACT AS IF YOU'RE A SAINT. YOU B-"

"HEY! NOW IS NOT THE TIME! WE GET IT, YOU HATE EACH OTHER."

"Is my husband taking our SON'S SIDE?" My Mother's eye color melts into a red glow.

"Aww Jennifer, I don't exactly prefer any one of you."

"Wow, love you too Dad." I remove myself from the dining room table.

"Where do you think you're going?" Mother hurls a pocket knife in my direction, slashing my cheek.

"What a good mother you are. Fuxxing psycho." I continue to make my way outside of the room.

I truly hate this entire family. I just wanna get my final power, and ditch them all.

*sighs*

I hurry up the stairs to my large bedroom, noticing the book shelf became unorganized and my drawers were hanging out. Immediately I recognize a candy wrapper on the floor, and place it in my pocket. At least we know now who the culprit is.

I angrily bang on Evelyn's door.

"OPEN THIS DOOR UP RIGHT NOW!"

"GOSH WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?" Evelyn unlocks the door with an annoyed expression taking up her face.

"YOU LITTLE AXXHOLE! I KNOW YOU DID IT!"

I fling the candy wrapper at her head.

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU!"

"THEN WHAT'S THE WRAPPER FROM YOUR FAVORITE CANDY DOING ON MY BEDROOM FLOOR?"

"Listen, I really don't understand what you're saying. I've been in my room and outside all day."

"Prove it." I clench my fists.

"Fine, I'll use my chrono vision you giant crybaby."

An illuminated bubble appears out of nowhere.

"How long has it been since you were last in your room?" Evelyn widens the bubble.

"About two hours." I respond with a raised eyebrow.

Evelyn tenses up her left hand, and repeatedly taps the bubble.

"This was your room two hours ago."

We allowed 6 minutes to pass by.

"Nothing out of the ordinary." Evelyn shrugs her shoulders.

"Wait! Did you see that?" I point at the bed.

Evelyn shakes her head, then snaps her fingers and rewinds the time. I put my hand up to signal her to stop. A claw is pictured coming from underneath my bed.

"THAT! RIGHT THERE!" My eyes widen in surprise.

"I-I don't see what you see." Evelyn blinks multiple times, assuming her vision is unclear.

However, it's extremely hard to miss this.

"There's something with a claw under my bed." I continuously gesture at a beast's hand.

"WHAT? Oh...I can tell there's a claw print on your patio from here, but I cannot perceive anything else."

"WHEN WAS THAT DOOR EVER OPEN?" I put my hands on my head in frustration.

"You should check. Perhaps it's still there?" Evelyn calmly moves her eyes towards my room's entrance.

"Just in case Satan is playing a trick on us, I need a weapon."

"I can just use my fire power." Evelyn's eyes begin to create flames.

"And burn the HOUSE DOWN? I think not!" I pat Evelyn's shoulders to pacify her.

"You should grab your demonic sword. I can use my weapon generator to quickly make a weapon if I need it." I steadily approach my room.

Evelyn nudges me, and draws my attention to the bed. I nod in accordance. Hesitantly, I get down on the floor, and move the blankets away from the bottom of the bed. Nothing.

"The patio." I whisper.

Evelyn backs up, and I regain balance as I stand up. We advance towards the patio door, which happens to now be closed. I open the door to reveal an unusual print on the floor. I step out. Nothing.

"There's nothing there?" Evelyn's eyes brighten in curiosity and shock.

"Nope just the footprint. Wait a second." I sense an unsettling aura. I decide to gradually raise my eyes.

"WHAT...THE...HELL...IS...THAT?"

Evelyn stands by my side, and peers up at the side of the house.

"What do you mean? Geesh, your eyesight is getting worse."

"YOU MEAN YOU DON'T SEE THAT?"

A wolf-like beast with wings lies down on the side of the house. He's slightly startled by us, but he doesn't seem to show fear.

"Evelyn get behind me." I motion for her to move away from the wall.

"Is this a prank? Are you trying to scare me? It's NOT WORKING." Evelyn throws a small tantrum.

"Okay, obviously you can't see it and nobody on the street is freaking out, so I must be the only one that can." I talk to Evelyn while maintaining eye contact with the creature.

The animal walks down the side of the wall to sit in front of us.

"A new superpower?" Evelyn stares at me.

"What kind of superpower is this? I did nothing." I nervously chuckle.

"It can't be nothing."

"What do you mean it can't be nothing?"

"Huh? I didn't say anything." Evelyn's heartbeat becomes louder.

"If you're the only one that can see me, then you're the only one that can hear me." An angelic voice comes from the wolf.

"HOW CAN YOU SPEAK?" I am taken aback in awe.

"You're the one that created me." The winged animal reveals to me.

"I never did any of this. It's not possible-"

"What's it saying?" Evelyn tugs my shirt.

"My name is not it. It's-"

"Liraz." The creature and I speak in unison.

"That's their name?" Evelyn's mouth hangs open.

"Where did Liraz come from?" Evelyn questions.

"My dream. I don't know how, but last night I dreamt of a wolf that could fly." I pace back and forth in astonishment.

"You can summon creatures? NO FAIR!" Evelyn stomps.

"Only in dreams." Liraz corrects.

"Only in dreams? That's abnormal. I did research on those that can summon beasts, they've never had to dream in order to do that."

I rush back into my room to pull out a book.

"Well congratulations, you're special." Liraz enters.

"If I can't see them, how could I see the paw print?" Evelyn asks, eyeing at the patio.

"Well you see, I accidentally sliced my paw and it left behind a mark."

"Oh so it's because of how you were injured in my dream?" I flip through the pages of a superpower book.

"Precisely."

"Oh the blood tracked Liraz's steps. Interesting. By the way, are you a female or male?" Evelyn sets the sword down on my desk.

"It depends upon Dean. Although I wouldn't mind either label."

"They say it depends upon me, but they don't care which one I call them." I relay the message.

A certain page catches my eye.

"Ahah! Here it says, summoning cannot be gained as a final power."

"Then maybe this isn't your final power." Evelyn gasps.

"I thought we'd only get four powers, another one would make me a cinque."

"Cinque as in a five on a dice?"

"Sometimes cards too. Remember when our parents told us that Satan would give us four powers based on dice and every now and then...cards? That's where the word 'cinque' comes from in our origin; a being with five. The powers, however, he may change them at any time. As long as we're not using powers for good, we can keep them." I explain to Evelyn.

"I wanna know how the dice decides the power." Evelyn observes the book in my hand.

"From what I understand, nobody truly knows how he does it. They say that a one means a mental power, two is physical, three is a rare power, four is a random power, and rolling a five the first time means that a demon will have five selected: dependent upon how well they serve Satan. Although, we already know he's constantly changing the rules to satisfy what he wants. Ahh, I envy him." I collapse onto the mattress with the book on my chest.

"Then why are there cards?" Liraz lies down.

"Well again, no one exactly knows, but it's assumed the cards are the replacement powers." I flip over to be able to read the book.

"Replacement powers...powers that Satan changes or ones that you will gain if you lost a power not caused by Satan?" Evelyn questions further.

"Well it's rare that a demon will lose a power not because of Satan, but you can possibly obtain a replacement power for that and again, powers Satan gives you. The cards can also develop a cirque, it's just uncommon." I say with no emotion in my voice.

"There are 6 sides on a dice. What happens if Satan rolls a 6?" Liraz yawns loudly.

"The six is always controlled. Only people capable of being light angels will receive a six." I rip a page out.

"WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" Evelyn snatches the book away from me.

"Mom and Dad are very perceptive. I don't need them finding out that I have a special power or might be a cirque."

"But they'll praise you." Evelyn rolls her eyes.

"Our parents? Please. More like use me." I melt the page with the palm of my hands. It vanishes into thin air.

"Do you think they...love us?" Evelyn avoids eye contact.

"In their own way." I claim half heartedly.

My alarm clock goes off. I shut it off.

"It's time for me to go to work." I jump off the bed.

"Sucks to be you! I get to sleep in today." Evelyn taunts me like a child as she exits the room.

"That girl will never grow up." I shake my head.
