Chapter 107

Kirk checked, taking out a plastic bag with the hospital’s logo on the front. “You’re okay with my going to your place unsupervised?” he asked, grinning.

“Yeah. Just stay out of my marijuana stash,” Tony quipped, getting a laugh from Kirk, and a dour look from the nurse.

“I’ll be back before you know it,” Kirk said as he left the room, while Tony assured the nurse he was only kidding.

Although Kirk wasn’t back quite as fast as he’d implied he would be, he did return before Tony was due to be released, much to Tony’s relief. While Kirk was gone, the doctor had checked on Tony, pronounced him able to leave, and then gave him instructions for taking care of his wounds as well as prescriptions for antibiotics and painkillers.

“The cavalry has arrived,” Kirk announced as he came into the room, handing Tony a bag containing jeans, long-sleeved T-shirt, and all the other necessities.
