Rejection

I headed to the stream, a bit far from the pack, deep in the woods. I hope no one stumbles upon me there. "Ah, this feels so refreshing," I whispered as I immersed myself in the cool water, the gentle current caressing my light brown skin, a trait I inherited from my beautiful mother. I miss them dearly, and sometimes I wish I hadn't brought more trouble into their lives when I was confirmed Omega. My mom, she was a stunning human with dark skin and curly brown hair. The pack tried to break them apart, saying that humans and werewolves couldn't be together, but my dad, along with his fierce wolf, fought to protect their bond. He managed to preserve their bond, and a few years later, I came into this world. No one dared to mess with me at school because my dad was one of the most formidable Alpha warrior. He has been a great asset to the pack on the battlefield. Alpha Maximus Darkwood saw my dad as a threat, and I believe that's why he seized the opportunity of my father standing up for me when I was confirmed as an Omega wolf, to eliminate him. After a few years of battling depression and the loss of her beloved, my mom passed away.

I stretched and smiled as I woke up, feeling refreshed. After getting ready in my cozy little bathroom, I headed to the kitchen to prepare some food for the occasion. Savanna Baker and Isabella Stone were there too, but it seemed like I was doing most of the work while they sat and chatted.

"Guess what?" Isabella ask Savanna.

Savanna was eagerly waiting to hear what Isabella had to say.

"The Twins Alpha from The Shadowmoon Pack are gonna be at the celebration, searching for their mates! Can you believe it?" Savanna replied, grinning like crazy.

"No way! Seriously?" Savanna exclaimed, her smile growing wider.

"Yeah, I'm gonna dress to impress them today. I hope I can be one of the twins' mates, or maybe even snag all of them. It would be a dream come true," Isabella said dreamily, flashing a smile. "I'm hoping for the same thing," Savanna added with excitement.

I watched them and just shrugged, not really caring about those twins. I've heard all the rumors about how they've taken over other packs and showed no mercy to their enemies. They're known for being pretty cold towards other packs. It's honestly surprising to see everyone so excited about their arrival. Don't they worry that the twins are here to cause trouble instead of finding their mates? Even though this pack hasn't treated me well, it's still my pack, the place my parents called home and protected.

I walked into the storeroom, ready to prepare some delicious meatballs. As I entered, I heard my name being called out, "Ava." I turned around, expecting to see someone, but there was no one there. Confused, I asked, "Hey, who's there?" That's when I heard a chuckle, and a voice in my head said, "Hey stupid, I'm your wolf." Startled, I knocked into something and tried to compose myself. "Hey, what's your name?" I asked eagerly. My wolf chuckled again and replied, "I'm Lily."

Before I could say anything more, a captivating scent hit my nose. It was like a sour strawberry, but in the best way possible. I stepped out of the storeroom, sniffing the air, and I knew immediately. "Mate," I whispered with a smile, placing the meat aside. I followed the scent, my excitement growing with each step. But then, I saw Beta Jackson standing in the empty alley, his arms crossed and a smirk on his face. My smile faded as I caught his scent. It was the same intoxicating aroma.

"Go to him, mate is standing there," Lily, my wolf, urged happily. The fire within me burned, but doubts crept in. "What if he rejects us?" I asked, my body trembling. Lily reassured me, "He won't, he's our mate after all." Filled with hope, I took a few steps towards him. But my heart shattered when I saw the disdainful look on his face and heard his words. "I, Jackson Hartley, the Beta of The Lunarbane Pack, reject you, Ava Sullivan, as my fated mate."

Disbelief washed over me, my breaths ragged, and my heart racing. Pain consumed my entire being as I shook uncontrollably. I had thought he would accept me, but he had rejected me. It was a crushing blow, and in that moment, it felt like my world had shattered into a million pieces.

I glared at him, tears streaming down my face, and said, "I Ava Sullivan I accept Jackson Hartley, the Beta of Lunarbane, rejection." As I spoke those words, the pain in my chest grew stronger, and I noticed Jackson clutching his own chest. In a matter of seconds he stopped and looked at me with anger, his anger turned into a sneer. "Let's pick up where we left off," he said coldly. My eyes widened in fear as he lifted me off the ground. "You think you're brave, huh?" he snarled. But then, he abruptly put me down, and I gasped for air like my life depended on it. He whispered in my ear, "Remember what I said last time?" His words sent a shiver down my spine, reminding me of our previous encounter "I have no intention of taking your innocence yet".

I looked at him with wide eyes as I stared at him, my voice trembling, "S...so you knew?" Before I could finish my sentence, he cut me off, his words dripping with disdain. "Yes, my little slut. I've been aware that you are my mate for two years, patiently waiting for this moment. Now, everything will go just as I've planned." His interruption left me feeling a mix of fear and disbelief. I couldn't fathom someone could be so selfish and dangerous. My anger and disgust towards him grew stronger, wishing I had the strength to confront him, but knowing I stood no chance.
