Chapter 9

The night officer!

The sound was very strange and abnormal in the silent filled hallway. Marcel everytime he heard that sound he would feel like it was sound of bell in funeral which greatly unsettled him .

Clink ! Clink !

Hearing the silver bells in the silent hallway, Marcel immediately looked ahead while Tim who was looking at the painting, focused on the entrance.

A hurried footsteps were heard and soon a man in uniform appeared, behind him a tall guy wearing raincoat followed silently.

Marcel went forward with a smile and streched his hands while introducing himself.

"Hello officer, I'm the one who called you just now , Marcel."

The guy in front shook hands and said cooly

"Very well Marcel show me where is the body !"

Marcel nodded his head and led him to the kitchen while explaining everything that he knew .

The officer listened quietly and suddenly said

" Gather all the tenants in the hall , I will personally investigate them ..."

Marcel nodded and turned back to tim .

"Go and gather all the tenants in the hall . Don't miss anyone."

Tim nodded and left to complete his boss order in silence .

The officer went to the kitchen and found the body on the west side of the kitchen corner . He crouched down and began to examine the body , Soon half an hour passed and finally he came out from the kitchen.

In the hall, there was already ten so people gathered and every one had odd expression on their face. Some were irritated, anger , cold , curious and fear emotions in their faces .

The officer looked at each of them closely and asked Marcel seriously

"Everyone's here ? No one is missing right ?"

Marcel looked at everyone closely and confirmed that no one was missing. The officer looked at everyone and asked in cold voice

"Now ! You all know that there was a murder tonight and I strongly belive that one of you is the culprit !"

The tenants beagan to argue against the officer words . But no matter what they said , the officer didn't even bother to listen. He calmly said while looking at everyone face

"Enough . I will decide whether you are the culprit or not until then no one has to leave these hotel !"

George who in the crowd couldn't help but say

"For God sake ! Even if you let them go they can't go anywhere in these rainy night ! "

Even though he said in low voice, the hallway was very silent so his voice was pretty much heard by everyone, especially the officer who now looking at George coldly.

He came infront of George and suddenly slapped him which stupified everyone. George stood there is dumbfounded while the officer said coldly

"This will be the consequences for your ignorance ! If there is next time then don't blame me for being rough with you!"

Everyone became silent and obedient after seeing George red cheek but John was gloating inside from happiness.

The officer began his investigation

"Where were you all inbetween 9:00 - 10:00 Pm exactly ....I mean what were you all doing!"

Austin was the first to speak .

"I was very tired and took a long nap!"

The officer looked at John , which made the kid immediately became pale . He said quickly

"I was in my room ...."

The officer looked at the blonde women.

"I was sleeping..."

Clara said while avoiding eye contact with the inspector

"I...was in room too..."

The office eyes narrowed slightly but he didn't say anything instead he looked at the person wearing black suit . But strangely he felt that this person is familiar but he didn't think about it for now.

"I was on a meeting with client online!"

The old lady said with smile

"What can a old lady do in that time ? Of course I was sleeping !"

The blonde women replied cooly

"I was in my room ...."

When it came to George turn , he slowly said while looking at Clara

"I was in my room "

After some thoughts , the officer looked at Tim who was standing beside Marcel In silence.

Tim just blinked his eyes when he saw the officer was looking at him , he didn't understand at first but when Marcel whispered in his ears then only he understood and immediately said

"I was looking for the cook in the kitchen but I didn't find him so I went to deliver foods to the first floor !"

The officer looked at Marcel and the later scratched his head while saying

"Officer I was in reception desk all time !"

The officer looked at the tall guy beside him , the later was recording the statement of everyone here . After some words with him , the officer said

"Did anyone heard or saw anything strange or do you have any idea who killed the cook ?"

Hearing the officer words , everyone just stood in silence except Marcel who said in confusion.

"Urm ... Officer the time you mentioned is the same exact time the cook was disappeared and we couldn't find him at all but later we found his dead body at the kitchen but before that we didn't see the body at all ..."

The officer eyes narrowed and said

"Good anything else ?"

Marcel looked at everyone and came close to the officer side , he said In low voice so that only two of them could hear

"I have a doubt on these five people...who came today to stay for a night in our hotel ! You know what I mean right ?"

The five people were obviously Austin, John, Clara, the blonde women and the man in suit .

'Does this guy think one of the newcomer would kill the cook? Your guess might be possible but it's still a gues...'

The officer thought silently and looked at these people while he had his own thoughts on his mind . Anyone could be the killer in these hotel and there might be more than one killer !

It could be anyone !

But the officer was sure that this murder must be an accident because.....
