CHAPTER 8

***EDEN***

My friends are talking but I am not hearing a word they are saying. I feel like breaking someone's jaw right now. Justus' in particular. I saw her the moment she stepped through that door and the next thing I see is Justus all cuddled up in her space talking her ear off.

"fuck!"

"are you okay bro?" Dawn asks me

"yeah man ,it's nothing" I see Victoria headed towards me

"Hey honey, I have been looking for you" she kisses me. I take that moment to deepen the kiss. For a flash, I feel like I'm kissing Eve. I pull off Victoria fast.

"What was that for?" she playfully asks me

I look towards eve only to find her looking at me with what I imagine is fury. She saw me. I was thinking about her when I kissed Victoria.

What's going on? Why is she on my mind all the time? I see her try ignore me by listening to Justus. She is failing horribly though.

"I will see you later" I tell Victoria. I make my way towards eve and as I get closer I hear Justus go on and on about cars or some other thing I don't care about. She tenses as I get close to her. She can feel me even before I get close to her.

"Hey man" Justus says as when he sees me.

I look at eve and I don't fail to note how her lips are glossy under the warm lights and her flushed skin. She has been drinking.

"You shouldn't drink again if you don't want to pass out" I tell her knowing I will get under her skin

"No one tells me what to do or not to do" she tells me so calmly. Fuck she is so hot.

"Have you met before?" Justus asks

"no"

"yes"

we both say at the same time

"I don't know him" eve interjects.

"That's not what he asked darling" I tell her.

"You are infuriating and most of it all; you are bringing my high down" eve tells me angrily and leaves me.

"so you do know each other. How did that happen?" Justus probes

"I would mind my business if I were you. And keeping off Eve." I warn him looking at him dead in the eye

"Last I checked you had Victoria, what's with you running around with the new girl?" he asks me wearing a smirk. Is he challenging me? I step up on his spaces he has to back up a little "you don't get to talk about girl like that, especially eve, I won't repeat myself on this"

He starts to look annoyed and mad "it's not always about you Eden. You always talk to everyone as if we are supposed to bow down you or some shit like that. You are not the leader of us Eden. You are not the alpha of this group. You should consider how you move with me because I am going to be your alpha"

He is indeed challenging me. "I am sure you would be an excellent alpha if ever but you really should know your place. That means knowing not to play with testing my boundaries or I will crush you"

"fuck!" he shouts angrily. I leave him and go to find eve. I find her on the other side of the bar getting a drink

I pull her towards one of the rooms, close the door and lock it. She looks at me surprised "what are you doing?" she demands

"I want to know why you are all over the place"

"what the hell are you talking about?"

"You can't come here looking like that" I tell her as I move closer to her

She backs one step away "you don't get to ignore me like you have never seen me before"

We are standing so close to each other I can feel her breathe on my face.

"Eveline" I whisper her name

Someone knocks at the door "Eden?" its Victoria

She is looking for me. I hear her ask where I had gone and she leaves. All this time eve is looking at me to see my reaction

"Your girlfriend is looking for you" she tells me.

"I don't have a girlfriend." I growl

She smirks at me and unlocks the door and leave. I stand there in the room after she has left and exhale.

***eve***

When I hear someone knocking at the door, I hold my breath. The intensity of the moment I am having with Eden is too much it's uncomfortable. That's when I hear who is at the door. It's the girl who is always with him

I decide to break the silence by telling him his girlfriend is calling him then leave. The moment I walk out of the door, come face to face with the girl. Victoria.

"Watch where you are going" she sneers at me

I side step her and start making my way outside. I can feel myself start to get really mad. I need fresh air. I can't leave Shirley is my ride so I decide to sit on the swing chair by the front yard. I smell his scent even before he is close to me

"What made you come here" I look at him when he asks the question. Its like we just didn't have a moment inside. I don't know why he is asking me but I decide to play along; he looks like something is disturbing him.

"Occupational purposes?" I joke. I see a hint of smile but he hides it so well I start to think I imagined it. "I had no choice in the matter. I imagine it would make news if someone saw a werewolf running around in New York every full moon "

"Do you miss new York?"

I think about it "yes and no. I'm still yet to see which is which" I start to feel the cold night breeze and it makes me shiver

I see him stand up and remove the jacket he is wearing and hand it over to me. I take it and drape it over my shoulder. His scent engulfs me. Hints of rain forest and wood notes; it's so addictive.

"You look disturbed" I try probing.

"This is not an opening up session new girl"

I tried. Eden is the kind of man you don't know what's going on with him. His eyes revel nothing and he has this façade of a bad boy nothing fazes him going on.

I close my eyes and fall back in the chair inhaling deeply. I can feel him looking at me. Just then Shirley comes through the door looking all sad and frustrated.

"there you are. I was looking for you"

"What's going on?" I'm ask her as I stand up to go to her; she then sees Eden and starts apologizing for intruding

"I wanted to head home but you can stay" she starts saying. She really looks on the verge of crying I don't know what happened but I want to be there for my friend.

"No we are leaving" I look at Eden

"Goodnight Eden." Shirley and I head towards the driveway. The valet comes around with her car and we drive off.
