CHAPTER 11

I didn't know it was actually his dad but they had some similar features. He was looking at me like he was studying me it was beginning to be uncomfortable.

"You should be in school" he was crouching to meet my level.

My wolf was feeling intimidated; she could feel the older wolf's energy and couldn't meet his eyes. He was an alpha. An older alpha

"You are young. You should go ahead and complete your run but be careful. There are predators everywhere." Then he left.

After he left and I was completely sure he was gone I shifted back to my human form. I got dressed quickly and decided to go home.

***EDEN***

"I see why you are fascinated with her." My dad was home and talking to me. That rarely happened. Not when he was talking about anything else other than my responsibilities of the pack.

"Who?" I hoped it wasn't who I thought it was that he was talking about.

"Your mate. I met her today. How rude of you not to have introduced me to her. She is quite a fierce little thing."

It was eve alright "She is not my mate. I could have realized by now"

"You got separated at quite a young age with reasons my son. She indeed is your mate. I'm just not sure she is your right fit. Her blood is tainted. All the Leblancs are tainted. She can be your mate by birth but we will find you another one, it's not uncommon."

"What do you mean her blood is tainted? She is a pure bred werewolf."

"I am sure you have heard rumors about the old folklore, concerning the Leblancs, don't be naïve now son. I raised you better than that"

I wanted to really say something but I couldn't. He was after all my father and most importantly my alpha. "I didn't know that it could be true. Those are bedtime stories."

"If you are going to be an alpha one day of this pack you need to know what are myths and the truth. She is an enemy after all. The sisterhood knows who she is , her powers if she has any and they will not consider twice when it comes to you if you are the enemy. I raised you to be a king. To follow my footsteps, not to be like your useless older brother"

I fisted my fists "Vince is not-"

"Vince is who I say he is. And I say who you are. Don't you ever go against my word or you will feel my wrath"

"Darroc, leave your son alone. He just came from school. Hey honey" my mom enters the room and kisses my cheeks. I see my dad perk up and his mood instantly change when he sees her.

"He needs to learn" He tells her when she sits on his lap

"He does. Just not now I haven't seen you for three days-"

I leave them cuddling on the living room. My parents are the perfect example of mates. They cannot live without each other. I believe my dad only loves one person only purely and that's my mother. He worships the ground she walks on. That's why it's always hard to wrap my head around why he can be so cold with everyone else especially us his sons. He has an ongoing war with Vince such that he swore Vince wouldn't take the alpha position. I don't know the details of their rivalry because no one wants to talk about it.

Vince couldn't care less about positions. He always does what he wants. He lives on his own and has a life different and away from my father. I am always jealous about it because I wish I could do it. Have a life of my own away from all this, a life as different as it can be.

I get in my room and remember what my father said about Eveline. He has seen her so there is no hiding that from him now. I suspected she was my mate from the first day we met. We had something indescribable and it scared me because it was new. I had never felt like that before.

What I didn't understand is what he said about the Leblancs. She hasn't shown anything about having any kind of power. The stories talked about a wolf who had witch like abilities and is very powerful she could not be tamed down not even when she was mated. Something happened to the last Leblanc with that kind of power that no one talks about but from what I could get was it involved brotherhood.

Nothing was making sense. The clans were full of secrets and betrayals and rivalries from the past. All those burdens, to be passed down to the next generation of leaders. This is fucked up.

I decide to go do my usual activity that brings my heart a little bit of peace. Looking at eve.

I have to be careful now, my father has his eyes on her.

***EVELINE***

I get home feeling tired and only wanting to go take a shower and cuddle up with the journal I am reading.

"The school called today, you can't be missing your classes here Eve" my mom is on me the minute I get inside.

"I wasn't feeling very school like mom. I think I can afford to miss a class or two"

"Eveline Parris Leblanc. You do not start that bullshit with me. You do not miss class again, understood?"

"Yes mom." She is pissed off, that's when she calls me by my three names.

"Were you hunting? I could smell you from the driveway"

"I did, but then I meet this man he called himself Darroc? Anyway my hunting got cut short" That seemed to get my grandmother's attention from where she was seated taking tea.

"You saw Darroc? did he talk to you? What did he say?" Grandma asked me

"Well that I should be more careful and I got the impression that he knew that I knew his son?"

My grandma and mother both look at each other.

"Why are you looking at each other like that?" I ask

"We thought you knew by now"

"Knew what?"

"Eden is your mate"
