I feel him even before the gates open to let him in.
My heart thumps so fast on my chest and I feel so anxious and nervous. I stop and look at the gates. My attention catches something on my peripheral and I see Eden at the balcony looking down to see Zane walking through those gates.
He gets in and he looks like he belongs already. Masha is next to him and I see that they have their courage taken up somewhere and then the matron get to welcome them by giving them a speech everyone seems to be getting when they get through those gates.
He doesn't seem to pay attention to the man talking. His eyes find mine and we lock eyes, and it's like the whole world fades away. He doesn't smile, or do anything, just look at me with those obsidian eyes and I don't waver too. But then I do look away, to my side swallowing hard.
When I look at where Eden is standing, I see his eyes on me, burning. He saw the interaction and he doesn't look happy.
