It was kind of scary that Emma could read Kane's mind to that extent, but in the end, he wasn't that complicated. One just had to think for a minute or two to understand exactly what he was thinking. Kane would do anything for survival, and the most effective thing he could do to survive right now was to understand and destroy the people who attacked the village. Still, first, he had to deal with Carl, Owen, and Leia. Even though they didn't evolve, they would be hard to kill. Kane knew how stronger someone could become just by leveling up once, so he couldn't underestimate their power.

"We will have to deal with them before others like us can spawn and find this place," Kane declared. "If any human sees us starting a fight, they will conclude that we are in the wrong and then will help those three. Dealing with them would be a massive pain in the ass. We don't need anyone making things even more complicated for us."
