Amidst the playful banter of two other , Xi Luan sprawled across the table, his expression the very picture of dejection.

Human began to capture and domesticated these ferocious monsters bending them to their will as servants . Harnessing the beast's might , they fought back against the onslaught

These subdued creatures were dubbed spirit beasts , and their human masters became known as monster tamers . Humanity had not only driven the ferocious beasts into wild but had also forged a formidable civilization entered around monster taming

In this new era , the role of monster tamers had become paramount . To become one was to escape the drudgery of mere survival attaining Level 4 status meant wealth and comfort .

Nearly everyone aspired to wield the power of formidable monster tamers , Xi Luan included . Alas the potential of his current body was woefully inadequate . His soul strength was significantly below the minimum required for monster tamers , and his physical attributes were surprisingly lacking.

A soul strength of one point was necessary to become a Level 1 monster tamer ; he had a mere 0.5 , A physique of 4 points was also needed yet he only attained 2 points . Soul strength set the cap for a contracts Level

Outstripped that of the contract, it risked breaking free .

Savage spirit monsters were known to attack the monster tamers .

Once bound by a soul contract , the spirit monster would nourish the monster tamer with the powers of its bloodline . However the monster tamers constitution was weak, there was a risk of being overtaken by the spirits bloodline .

Xi luan came from a wealthy family , but his limited aptitude meant he could only manage to contract with the most basic spirit monster.

With just a thought he summoned the spirit monster .

It was a grass snake but not an average one it shimmered green , its beauty reminiscent of emerald

The snake's large eyes brimmed with innocence upon seeing Xi luan , it quickly coilde around his arm , affectionately lacking him .

"What can you do beside making me wet ? " Xi jin grumbled resigned to a heavy sigh .

It wasn't creatures fault ; he was the one who fell short .

"Only two month left until the university starts . I've got just two more chances to pass the test . If I fail I have to kiss my dream of becoming monster tamer goodbye "

Xi luan sigh was lost to the sky , his expression etched with hopelessness

"I would trade ten years of my deskmate's life for a stroke of luck "

Silence met his plea.

Xi luan was ecstatic feeling as though he had found a glitch in the system .

Zhang wai sensed something was off and pressed for an answer

" I am not going to bother explaining " : Xi luan deflected .
