Emily's secret

After this night when they all got together, the four of them were finally back together again and were eating together regularly again, taking classes, and rehearsing Romeo and Juliet. The first semester of freshman year was about to end as well, and the four of them were starting to prepare.

'Another level 4, another final, screw it, haven't revised anything.' Emily hugged her book and complained to Sarah.

'I don't usually see you so flustered, so let's hug it out.' Sarah dragged her to the library.

The last few days, all four of them have been acting like they've had a cocktail; sometimes, Emily and Sarah go to the library to take their seats, and Martin and Hans bring them coffee and lunch. Sometimes, again, Martin and Hans took their seats for them, and a few times, when there was no place in the library, they went to Martin's house, or went to the quiet private room in the south of the river to revise.

Emily finally got a taste of the pain; she hadn't put her mind to her studies all term, and would have to cram at the end of the term.

'I've told you this type of question three times already, don't you understand?' Sarah said to Emily.

'Sarah, tell me again...' said Emily, pulling her hand and pouting with her.

'Serves you right, study hard for next term.' Sarah felt helpless.

Time flew by, they would soon have their final exams and soon it would be time for their performance of Romeo and Juliet.

'Hey, do you guys have any plans for the winter holidays?' Hans asked.

'Going home of course, miss my mum and miss my dad.' Sarah replied, and after she said that, she immediately thought about Emily and coughed twice before she said anything else.

'I haven't thought about it yet, my mum and dad asked me to go abroad but, I don't want to.' Martin replied, picking up on Sarah's words.

Emily kept her head down and sipped her coffee without saying anything.

Hans asked again, 'Emily, what about you, what are you going to do?'

'I ... shouldn't be home.' Emily stammered a little.

'Not going home, then what are you going to do?' Hans asked curiously.

Sarah and Martin were busy helping Emily to steer away from the topic, Sarah pulled Hans and said to him, 'I have a few high maths problems that I haven't figured out yet, why don't you come and help me look at them.'

Martin also hurriedly nodded, 'Yeah, yeah, I have too.'

Hans felt strange, as if they were deliberately hiding something from him, 'No, Martin, there's some question I'll do that you won't, you guys are so weird, what's wrong?'

Sarah's eyes rolled, 'Nothing, I really don't know any of the questions.'

Hans was so smart and they were so abnormal today, he was even more certain now that they were hiding something from him. Knowing that he couldn't get any results from asking Sarah and Martin, he turned his head to ask Emily, 'Emily, what's going on?'

Sarah saw this and immediately covered Hans' mouth, "Oops, told you, she's fine!"

Emily let out a long breath and left the coffee shop.Martin called out to her worriedly, 'Emily, Emily!'

Sarah dropped her hand and smacked Hans, 'I told you to stop saying that, now it's okay.'

Martin was suddenly angry, before when the four had a falling out it was because of Hans, now he had Emily gone off again because of him, why couldn't Hans be more stable, Martin snapped to his feet and grabbed Hans out of his seat, pinching Hans by the collar, Sarah was shocked and got up out of her seat as well.

'Hans, we told you to stop asking questions, can't you stop asking questions?!' Martin yelled at Hans.

'I just want to know what happened, I'm your friend, do you three know and I can't?' Hans grabbed him by the collar as well.

"Have you ever thought of us as your real friends? You've never been out here alone with us when you've been in love, we can't get together between the four of us because of you, and now you've pissed Emily off, and you don't really love Jenny, Hans, think about what you've done?!"

"Martin, I treat you like a brother, is that how you see me? I'm telling you, I'm also Emily's best friend, I'm entitled to know what happened to her clear!"

'Do you even have to ask, fine, then I'll tell you!'

'Martin, Hans, stop it you two, sit down and talk ...' Sarah stepped aside to stop the two, but it was impossible to stop them.

'You say ah!' Hans grabbed his collar again.

'Did you know that Emily's parents got divorced a while ago!' Martin moved closer again, his eyes a little red.

Hans froze for a moment as he heard him clearly, he lowered his head, let go of Martin's collar and whispered, 'What? What did you say?" He muttered under his breath and ran out of the coffee shop.

Martin was hit by him and sat down on the seat, looking at Hans who ran out, Sarah was a bit at a loss for words, she didn't know if Martin had made the right decision in telling Hans about Emily, and she didn't know what Hans would say to Emily, the relationship between the four seemed to have fallen into an ice point again.
