For this to happen in a church, it was nothing like what happened in taverns or those places for fighting. A church a territory of God's so it naturally had the protection of God, including the rocks on the ground. Normal players could not even break a wooden stool there so Esther's strength on that sword was unimaginable.
Furthermore, it was a severe offence to execute violence in a church. If normal players did a PK in a church, they would be minimally executed on the spot or even become wanted throughout the server. If they fought against an NPC like Esther, no one present could get away.
Esther's words were very clear. She would definitely not give up her rights given by God so to take the Soul of the Gods away, they had to defeat her.
