Dinner and Magic

Sheena came in on the arm of an older blond haired gentleman. Misty could see his resemblance to Jay and San. A full beard of luscious golden locks fell halfway down his chest. He was very muscular. He turned and she could see a 3 leaf clover in green on his upper right shoulder. One of the leaves had the image of a jaguar, and the two others had images of lionesses in them.

Behind the couple were two women arm in arm. They laughed together as they came into the dining room. One looked a lot like Sephie. She was about as tall as Misty with long brunette hair. Her eyes were a deep crimson. The other woman had flaming red hair the same color as San. Sparkling green eyes were a lighter shade than San, but she could tell that San was her son.

The group walked over to Misty. She set her utensils down and stood for a moment. Sheena smiled at her.

"Misty! I was just talking to Lyon about you!" She pulled her mate close and looked up into his face. After giving Lyon a look, she jerked her head over to Misty. He looked a little awkward for a moment before he looked into Misty's eyes.

"Hello, my dear." Misty was struck by the intensity of his amber eyes. They seemed to almost have a glow to them. She felt that there was a lot of energy coming off this man and wondered why. She held up her hand.

"Hi, it is nice to meet you." Misty tried to smile, but she could feel how awkward she was. She knew that her face was starting to flush. Lyon looked at her hand and took it in his. His hands were very warm, and he looked deeper into her eyes.

"You are just fine." He finally said. He looked relieved and let out a boisterous guffaw.

"What did I say!" Sheena said, smacking her husband on the arm. Behind her, one of the women was pouting with the other holding out her had. San's mom was holding out her hand while Sephie's mom pulled out a golden disk from the folds of her dress. Misty's brows drew together in confusion. She looked down at Jay, who had a wide grin on his face.

"Did I miss something?"

"Most people are afraid of my father when they look into his eyes." Misty looked back at Lyon and then to everyone else. She turned back to Lyon.

"I hope I didn't offend you," she said with worry.

"Not at all!" Turning to Jay he said to his son, " You were right. She does have a lot of potential!" Seeing that Misty was still confused, Lyon turned back to her.

"The reason most people can't take my gaze is the power of my mana. People with low levels or no mana at all feel burned when they look too deeply into my eyes." Misty stared at Lyon dumb founded.

"People have magic here?" Lyon let go of Misty's hand and walked over to another seat at the table. His wives followed behind him and took positions close by. They began to fill their plates as Lyon continued to speak.

"People have potential. Let me explain. You have mana, which is an energy that flows through everything that exists in this world. It is the blessing of Tamult. From that energy, change happens. You can liken it to a book. Knowing it exists and even reading it doesn't mean you can understand and apply what is in the book." Lyon held his hand in the air and snapped his fingers, A spurt of flame erupted from his fingers and flickered like a candle.

Tamult. An image flared in her mind, and information began pouring in. Tamult was the name of this world. The people here also personified Tamult. It's kind of like Mother Nature from back on her original world. The difference is that the energy of Tamult could be harnessed by understanding the flow of mana in the world and directing it to make change.

Misty looked at the flame at Lyon's fingertips. Something shifted in her, and she began to see the flow of mana around her. The people faded away to dark shapes outlined with bright rainbow colors. Energy shined from each of them brightly. She looked at the people bringing in more food to the table and noticed that people had different strengths of brightness. The person with the brightest glow at the moment was Lyon.

She could see that he was pulling in the mana around them and using it to fuel the flame at the tip of his fingers. Misty lifted her hand and looked at it. Her body glowed even brighter than Lyon's. She tried snaping her fingers, and heat spilled from her fingers. Everyone around her gasped, which brought her back. She looked at her hand, seeing a flame dancing at her fingertips. Startled at her instinctual actions, she yelped and began shaking her hand to try and put out the flame.

The flame winked out. She grasped her hand to her chest and looked at Lyon, who stared at her in shock, jaw dropped. She looked around at the people at the table and could see that all of them were surprised as well. Misty had no clue what to do.

San let out a loud laugh. He almost knocked some platers of the table as he doubled over in laughter. That seemed to bring everyone back to the present, and everyone grinned sheepishly.

"Jay told me that you just came here. Have you ever used magic?" Sheena asked.

"No, I didn't know that I could do that here."

Lyon began roaring with laughter as well. Watching father and son laughing, Misty couldn't help but worry. She looked at Jay, who still had a grin a mile wide. He even looked like he was puffing his chest out in pride. Lyon wiped his eyes as his howls began to subside.

"Indeed, you have a lot of potential."
