CHAPTER THREE

ATHENA

“Athena there’s really something I have to tell you. I have kept it hidden for so long so you could experience normal childhood and teenage hood” mom is behaving weird today, I nodded for her to continue as I switched off the television I was watching

“Athena dear, you have always asked for your father but I never said anything. The truth is that I’m not your mother either” she paused while I internally thanked her to digest what she just told me

“If you ain’t my mother then who are you? And who are my real parents? Was I abandoned?” I asked surprisingly calmly which is opposite to how I feel internally

“My real name is Claire, I’m your guardian. Athena, you’re not a Davison. You are Athena Lobo Cadmus. You are our Luna” mom or should I say Claire bowed which made me confused

“Why are you bowing? And what is Luna mom?” I asked calling her mom not to sound rude and as I still take her as my mom

“Call me Claire. We are not humans Athena, we are mystical beasts. We are werewolves” the sound of my laughter filled the room while I face morphed into confusion

“I’m sorry Claire, I really didn’t mean to laugh at you. It’s just- what you’re saying is just so funny to me. Mystical beasts? Werewolves? Did you watch too much movies? You know they are not real” I still tried to control my laughter..this conversation is just hilarious

“Your true parents are Alpha Rudolph Cadmus and Omega Imogene Lobo. We belong to the Dark Night pack. Your parents are enslaved there because of the crime they committed. Alpha Rudolph your father, tried to dethrone Head Alpha Cidar’s father when he was alive. It was an insult to the Head Alpha’s father and his sons. Alpha Cidar almost killed them but decided to enslave them at last because of a reason. You were just a child Athena and he would have killed you also but immediately recognized you as his fated mate. That was why he spared your parents” so she is really serious about this, this story is really true about wolves

“So because I am fated to the Head Alpha, I am the Luna? So what am I then? An omega like my mom? What are you? I want to see my parents” I cannot believe my parents have been alive

“I am a Beta. It was prophesied that you were going to bloom at the age of twenty, Omegas normally bloom at the age of eighteen but you’re very special. So far we all have been waiting for your change. And yes Athena you’re our Luna, you are Alpha Cidar’s mate. It’s not the right time to go to the pack Athena dear. Many packs are after you now you have turned twenty because you’re the only weakness of our Head Alpha. Alpha Cidar would bring you home himself. You have probably felt him around you. I was just assigned to take care of you” I still don’t understand Claire, I really want to see my parents with or without this Alpha Cidar, I want to bring my parents out from slavery..they should have paid for their crime already, it’s been twenty years already

“Claire I want to see my parents NOW. They have been kept away from me for too long, I don’t care about that Alpha Cidar of whatever. I want my parents!” I felt anger rising in me, real anger for the first time in my life, they cannot make me wait for this Alpha like a good puppy

“Athena dear you have to listen to me, we have to wait for the Head Alpha, it’s not safe for us to...”

“I WANT TO SEE MY PARENTS NOW!!” my voice came out distorted this time around, I saw Claire baring her neck at me..as if in submission. What’s going on? I didn’t mean to shout like that..that wasn’t even my voice. I just felt to angry

“Claire I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to shout at you” I tried making her stand probably like before but she was still bent with her neck bare in submission, she looks horrified

I tried using that distorted voice again to command her to be normal but it wasn’t coming out but after some minutes Claire became normal again and I signed heavily in relief

“What are you Athena? You aren’t meant to make us wolves bare our neck in submission. Only the Head Alpha can” she came close to me touching my face and body like it was her first time seeing me

“I’m so so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. I just really want to see my parents. I can’t bear doing nothing after knowing that they have been enslaved for twenty years” Claire nodded at my words

“I will take you to them Luna, let’s dress up properly” I quickly nodded and ran to my room.

I freshened up and arranged everywhere in case we stay there longer than expected, I texted Darvis telling him not to wait or search for me as I am traveling somewhere with my mom. It’s high time I let him go because we really are not meant for each other. I switched my phone off after texting him and my friends then kept my phone inside the drawer. I am about to experience a whole different life and finally I will get to see my parents.
