Chapter 4: Progress and Awakening

[4 years later]

The time was 7:00 am and one could see a blond boy of about 3-4 years old sleeping with a pair of gray wireless headphones and a confident smile on his face. The boy was sleeping on the couch that was in his bedroom.

He had soft white skin and chin length messy light blond hair on the top of his head that felt as smooth as silk if one were to run there hands through it. As he felt the sun shining on his face from the window nearby, he slowly started to gain consciousness and opened his eyes revealing a deep purple that was filled with confidence and expectation.

This boy was none other than Kodai Takeyama who has now spent 4 years now as a kid as today was none other than his birthday. It is also the day when ROB said he would awaken his quirk: Titan Shifter and will unlock the first form.

As he was growing up he started to notice a tingling feeling near the nape of his neck that would appear now and then as well as a very slight increase in strength. He presumed that this was the emergence of the body to handle the 9 Titan powers and it was manifesting early to ease him into the power once the quirk itself manifested. He guessed that that the tingling near the nape was the concentration of quirk energy accumulating within his body and would require a certain stimulus to awaken the quirk. Just like how the Titan shifters in AoT had to use pain as a stimulus, he guessed he also had to awaken like that. Out of curiosity he tried to get hurt before he accumulated enough quirk energy and found that he went numb all over his body for a quick millisecond then he collapsed out of exhaustion. He guessed that there wasn't enough quirk energy in his body to complete the transformation so he decided to let it accumulate until it has reached a bottle neck before he tries again.

He also began to feel the changes of his body due to the constant strength increase even though it was marginal. He noticed that as to keep his body balanced, his other senses were starting to get enhance as well such as sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Due to the constant increase in each sense he received constant headaches so he placed limiters on himself such as headphones and blindfolds that would restrain his senses. It was due to this that he was also training his senses in addition to limiting them. He learned to control his eye receptors when he just turned 3 so he could take off the blindfolds but the hearing gave him more trouble. His hearing distance reached about 100 m in radius which allowed him to hear things that frankly he wouldn't want to know. Due to this fact he kept his headphones on and played his favourite pop or anime music on full blast just so he could hear normally. Due to his family being rich he bought the state of the art noise cancelling headphones so he wouldn't bother other people when his songs are playing. His taste buds on the other hand were enhanced so much that he had the equivalent of the god tongue from shokugeki no soma which caused him to cook himself when all the food were utter trash which garnered a huge fanbase in his mansion and was even better than the head chefs that cooked for them. As for touch, he wore gloves to until he was 3 in a half when he decided that he could control his touch receptors. He could now sense the vibrations on the ground to sense peoples location like a certain earth bender from a show in his previous life. He still needs more training as he could only sense medium to big vibrations and still need to focus on objects or people that made small vibrations.

All in all, the maids and butlers around the mansion thought he was a child who like dressing up also knowing how to cook but they didn't think anything of it as he was kind to everyone as well as the Young master of the household.

Kodai yawned as he got up from the couch and looked around his room. The room was quite big as he had a separate office connected to his room, a lounge with a wall mounted flat screen TV where he could play video games as well as his own personal bathroom.

Compared to his last life, this life felt like a true heaven for him.

He still couldn't believe one act of impulse could lead him to a life like this.

Kodai reminisced for a while then got out of the couch and decided to do his daily routine for the day. He went to the bathroom, brushed his teeth, did his business and then did a morning workout which consisted of stretches and light body weight exercises to get his body moving for the day. This allowed him to get a feel for his body and allow it to work out without straining the body too much. He then check the progress of quirk energy and felt he would breakthrough anytime now. After 4 years of accumulation it finally slowed down to almost a halting point. He checked it everyday and it still felt the same everyday so he assumed he's reached the legendary bottle neck.

He thought nothing of it and decided to get dressed. He wore a plain black t-shirt with and blue sweatpants and went downstairs to eat breakfast cause he was starving.

As he reached the kitchen to prepare breakfast for himself he started to hear voices and smelt a burned smell coming from behind the door.

With a curious expression, he opened the door only to find his family making a mess of the kitchen. When he said mess, he meant that it looked like a natural disaster arrived in his kitchen. Kodai stood there speechless.

What did he see?

He saw ingredients on the floor, flour dough on the ceiling smoke everywhere. Its a miracle that there was no explosion with the kitchen in a state like this.

He then saw his mom trying to scrape a burnt "thing' from the pan, his father cutting vegetables with slices the size his hand (which is big by the way) and his sister trying take something out of the oven which he swears he saw it moving. He thought how his family would live without the chefs that cooked their food or the maids that cleaned after them and decided it was not possible.

They then all stopped their movements when they noticed him come in.

"...."

"...."

"...."

"....Umm, we can explain."

" Yeah so calm down Ko-kun"

"Remain calm"

When his family spoke Kodai suddenly felt a wave of anger trying to rush out. He then took deep breaths and finally asked them the question he was dying to ask.

"What are you doing?" Kodai just face palmed his face and asked them in a neutral tone.

When his family heard his tone, they flushed in embarrassment and laughed dejectedly, then looked at each other seeing who will answer him.

Finally his father came up and answered him.

"You see Ko-kun, we wanted to surprise you with a birthday breakfast as today you might awaken your quirk. It happened with me as well as your sister so we wanted to give you a scrumptious breakfast, but I guess cooking is a little bit harder than we thought." his father said in a somewhat embarrassed voice.

"Yeah Ko-chan, we wanted to give you a surprise" his mother added on

"Yeah what mom said" his sister said

Kodai looked at them all in the eyes, or tried too, as they averted their eyes from him once he made eye contact with them.

He then finally sighed.

"Thank you mom, dad and Nee-Chan for the somewhat surprise but you know that you're terrible at household chores, that's why we have maids and chefs for. Also because of my special situation I had to learn cooking just to eat." Kodai explained calmly to his family while they just looked down.

Kodai just shook his head and finally took a broom and dustpan from the kitchen cabinet.

"C'mon, lets clean together, doing stuff as a family is more than enough for my birthday today. After that I'll cook a meal and bake a cake so we can all eat something delicious to celebrate." he said while looking at the brightening expressions on the three's faces.

After that they cleaned up the kitchen and Kodai started to cook with the other chefs while thinking about the quirks they just used. His mother has an Extra limb quirk where she could create extra hands and use them as normal as a two armed person could with their arms. Once she was done using them they could just disintegrate and she was off for the day. Both his sisters and fathers quirk was gigantification where they could grown up to 20 metres and become a giant. Obviously they couldn't use it in the kitchen but he was still holding on the hope whether they could do partial expansion like Choji did in Naruto. If they could it would be a much more useful quirk then it was shown in the cannon.

He also found out that these two quirks could perfectly explain his future titan transformation once he awakens it today.

'Wow ROB made a perfect cover for when quirk manifests, if they still don't buy it then I can just say it was a mutation that occurred while awakening' thought Kodai as he was waiting for the cake to bake in the oven.

After waiting for about 30 mins he took the cake out of the oven while he just used minimal frosting to write 'Happy Birthday' and placed a candle on top. He then took the cake to the dining hall while the maids took the dishes.

When Kodai entered the dining hall he was greeted with his parents and sister waiting for him with expectation in their eyes. They all knew that Kodai's cooking could outclass many pro-chefs so when he cooked it was always a delight.

As Kodai placed the cake on the table, an intense tingling feeling spread from his nape to his entire body. the energy within him started to surge filling up all parts of his body threatening to even break skin. When he was finally saturated with energy, his skin started to glow with an intense orange yellow glow.

Kodai and his family were extremely startled at this predicament but the Kodai was excited.

"GUYS, IT'S MY QUIRK!!!" yelled Kodai as he was analysing the changes in his body. He knew that he needed to release this power in the form of a transformation into a Titan.

Kodai grabbed a knife and bolted to the front door where he was heading to a plot of flat land that he asked his family to get him for his 3rd birthday.

'Finally I will show the world my true power' thought Kodai as he reached the plot of land with his family not far behind him.
