Reverend Red Star

The spaceship descended in The Arena's hangar smoothly, the students were filled with genuine curiosity and happiness at the prospect of meeting new races and having various adventures with them.

They were told to leave the spaceship and gather at the lift for a briefing. They hardly stepped out of the spaceship when they felt a strong force press down on them.

All the students were stunned at the sudden increase in the gravity, some fell to their knees, while some outright passed out without any form of prior resistance.

The first years were visibly struggling, those that managed to stand had a hard time moving, but the second years stood proudly on their feets without stressing themselves.

Jayden was at first surprised at the sudden weight pressing down on him, but his body almost instantly fought against it and got used to it, just like the second years.

To not seem suspicious, Jayden pretended to feel the weight of the gravity of the planet and dropped to his knees, some students reacted and activated their Mech Suits in hope of relieving the weight. Perhaps they had forgotten that the Mech Suit required them to move their limbs manually, some of them whose Mech Suit didn't give them a high boost in strength, found themselves rooted to the spot. The gravity of the planet made their Mech Suit ten times heavier, so they just stayed in their positions like oversized action figure toys.

Jayden discretely looked around him and found all the first years, either passed out, on the ground struggling, or in the Mech Suits immobilized.

"This is one of the requirements you all must pass if you want to stay on this planet throughout the Interstellar Tournament. If you can survive the force of the planets gravity for ten minutes, then you'll be allowed." A teacher with short wavy blue hair and a blue eye patch said. He was seven feet tall and had a lithe body, it was a surprise how he was able to stand and talk freely with that kind of weak looking body. But Jayden knew better than anyone else, that he could flatten anyone of the first years without much struggle. Except Jayden of course.

Jayden, though a really good actor, was getting tired with his facade.

'I didn't know acting weak took energy.' Jayden thought as he groaned with a contorted face. He tried his best when suddenly, an idea occurred to him.

He called out through gritted teeth. "Jarvis." Nahshon understanding what he was up to, activated the Mech Suit.

The first years looked at him like he was an idiot, clicked their tongues and said some curses.

"Hmph... The bastards still have the time and energy to spare to mock someone, we humans are really wonderful creatures."

[You just realized?]

"Urghh....shut your mouth. I'm trynna act here."

As soon as the Mech Suit finished it's form and clicked, Jayden thought.

[Shield]

A blue translucent membrane covered his body from the crown of his Mech Suits head, to the soles of his feets. Jayden didn't end it there, he poured energy into the skill which further turned the blue translucent membrane into a vibrant purple.

It was just Jaydens speculation, but the skill actually reduced the gravity around him, it didn't return it to their planets regular gravity, but it was just enough for a normal average first year to move.

Jayden walked around in his bulky heavy Mech Suit to take a look around, the students saw what he had done and tried to implement it. The lucky few who had a shield type skill were slightly relieved and could move around, though not for long, while those who didn't have a shield type skill just watched in despair at the moving students.

'Its seems like luck is also a requirement.' Jayden thought.

Jayden who was at the back of the group checked out his surroundings, the black ground was dry and hard, there were rocks strewn on the ground and there was hardly any plant life. The hangar couldn't even be called that, it was just their spaceship that stood in the middle of nowhere. In the distance he saw a large warehouse like building, with several large Mech Suits moving some large boxes away.

'Since when did the inhabitants of this planet start using Mech Suits? And why do they look larger than normal?' Jayden thought suspiciously.

The biggest Mech Suit to have ever been created, was ten meters tall. It was among the old models of Mech Suits that required high expertise to man, it had a spacious cockpit and several levers and buttons used to control it. But the Mech Suits he sighted in the distance were close to twenty meters in height.

Jayden tried channeling energy into his eyes to improve his vision, but it wasn't easy. He had only trained to channel energy in one direction at a time, and after a minute or so of multitasking, Jayden managed, and was able to push some energy into his eyes, his irises began to glow with a vibrant purple color and his eyesight increased tremendously.

Jayden caught glance of the 'Mech Suit' working. He saw the 'Mech Suit' disappear into the warehouse before returning, at the moment of their return into the daylight, Jayden gasped.

A creature, fifteen meters tall, with muscles that looked like they were steel cables rolling underneath, draped in ragged black clothing with a rope tied to their waist and crude looking hammers strapped to their backs, emerged from the shadows of the warehouse. They had thick dreadlocked hair and beards that was at least shoulder length. But what caught Jayden's attention was their face.

They had only a single eye.

"Cyclops!!" Jayden exclaimed.

"Ohh... I'm surprised. They really are far away from here, yet you can still see them. What keen eyesights you have." A voice rang out by his side.

Jayden in shock, lost control of the energy being channeled into his eyes and his skill. The purple membrane on his Mech Suit momentarily distorted and turned into blue for a split second, before returning into its 'original' vibrant purple. Jayden panicked but immediately calmed down when he looked to the side and saw that the person wasn't looking. He didn't sense when the person appeared by his side, but he still kept his calm.

"Don't worry, I won't tell. I don't know what you did to make the shield change colour, but I have to say. It's impressive, it reinforced the shield with more energy, making it sturdier and able to absorb and disperse kinetic force. I really... am impressed." The person itterated.

Jayden felt like he was laid naked before the masked man and pried open, he had analyzed his skill with just a look in a few seconds.

Apart from his blood red hair, all other parts of his body was covered in black tight fitting clothing, a blood red star was etched at the back of his clothing which looked like it had been painted with fresh blood.

"You are an interesting individual, I'll like to work with you someday, find me when you're stronger."

"Huh...why would I do that?"

The masked man stared at Jayden with his glowing red eyes and then vanished, but some words still drifted into his ears.

"If you want to find me, just ask any powerhouse...
