Draven's Fight

[Rogue Surbodinate -Dark Coal Panther- has learnt a new skill]

[Rogue Subordinate -Dark Coal Panther]

[Skills -Shadow Jump]

[Skills Description -The user of the Shadow Jump is able to Jump from one Shadow to another no matter the distance.]

[The Energy cost is dependent on the distance between each Shadow and the density of the shadows]

Jayden and the spider were in a daze, they didn't understand how Draven disappeared from their sight, except Jayden of course.

The spider scrambled to the spot where Draven was last seen, it looked around but couldn't find him, but out of the corner of one of its eight eyes, it saw Draven descending from the ceiling with his claws stretched to their limit.

The spider was able to see everything in its front and everything above it and detected Draven easily. Draven with his claws gave a quick swipe at one of its eyes.

The spider reacted in time and closed its eyes, Dravens claws bounced off the spiders metal like exoskeleton that covered even its eyes.

Draven retreated to assess the situation and think of a counter attack strategy, something he had learnt from watching Jayden fight.

The spider didn't rush ahead to attack Draven also. The first attack that he pulled of seemed to have made the spider cautious.

"The intelligence of this spider is a tad better than other Intermediate Tier beasts I've seen." Jayden said to Nahshon.

[It's because of its Danger Sense]

[It is something all spiders have]

"I didn't know."

[Now you do] Nahshon replied sarcastically.

Draven once again charged at the spider, the spider screeched and ran with its eight legs moving in sync.

"Draven's new skill will definitely be a game changer."

[He might be able to land consecutive hits on the spider]

"I feel like a big 'but' is coming." Jayden intercepted.

[But, he might not be able to get through the spiders armour]

Jayden realized that Nahshon was right, Draven's first attack had only left a scratch on the spiders head but it didn't even wound the spider in any way. But if the spiders legs where to impale Draven, that might be the end of him.

Jayden began to regret his decision of sending Draven to a battle he might not win. He hoped that Draven would come out unscathed even though he knew that wasn't possible, one way or another Draven was going to get injured.

The spider thrust two of its front legs like spears, Draven ducked under one and swiped at the other, it was deflected successfully but another came from behind and hit him, flinging him across the ground.

Draven let out a low growl and charged at the spider without any hesitation. The spider once again thrust it's two legs at Draven, Draven followed up with the same tactic.

He evaded one of the spear like limbs of the spider and parried the other and with a swing of his sturdy tail he smacked the last leg away.

Draven had successfully dealt with the limbs and had a chance to deal an attack of his own, but he failed to notice the next set of legs coming at him from the sides, he was again then flung back, this time, crashing into a boulder.

Draven had learnt from his mistake and immediately corrected himself but he wasn't perfect and had taken a hit yet again.

Once again Draven disappeared into the shadow of the boulder. The spider expecting Draven to appear from above didn't expect an attack from the side, Draven swiped at the gap between the spiders exoskeleton and was able to cut into the soft flesh of the spiders limb, his claws went in halfway before losing momentum and coming to a halt.

The spider immediately jumped back to create distance, but Draven didn't let up and immediately dissolved into the shadow of another boulder before reappearing at another location.

The cave had a lot of dark spots which was perfect for Draven's powers and he made sure he used it to his advantage.

Yet again Draven surprised them. Jayden and the spider saw a spot in the cave shift slightly before returning back to its previous state.

"Huh, I thought he was going to come out from there." Jayden mumbled to himself only for him to be interrupted by the loud screech of the spider.

When Jayden looked, what he saw left him amazed. In the maws of Draven was one of the spiders legs, the one which he had attacked earlier.

"How?" Jayden said.

[Draven has an innate ability called Shadow Disturbance]

[When the skill is directed at a shadow, the shadow becomes corporeal and moves slightly before returning back to its previous state]

[That was the skill Draven used to trick you and make you turn around so he could jump on you when he came back to you]

Realization dawned on Jayden, he wondered what had moved in the corner of his vision before he went into the cave and realized that it was Jayden's doing. Jayden thought of different ways to utilize Shadow Disturbance and saw the potential in the power.

Another screech brought Jayden back to reality. The spider had lost two more limbs, leaving it with only five left.

Draven used the confusion of the spider to attack it from its blind spot. Draven had understood that the spider could not easily turn its body to the side to block Draven's attack, so he took its limbs slowly to immobilize it. One from it's right side and two from its left.

Jayden meanwhile was having a conversation with Nahshon.

"Why didn't it show as a skill then?" Jayden asked even though he already knew the answer to the question.

[It's an innate ability and not a skill]

[A skill needs energy but innate abilities like Draven's does not need energy to activate and can be used infinitely.]

"That confirmed my thoughts."

"The spider should also have an ability, but why isn't it using it?" Jayden asked mostly to himself.

[Perhaps it did not see the use to use its ability because it thought Draven was weaker]

"But that would soon change."

The spider looked like it had had enough of Draven as it had lost six of its limbs.

With a loud screech the spider flexed it's butt muscles and released several green webs in short busts. They acted as missiles that melted anything they touched due to the acid laced on them.

Draven dodged them easily and appeared at the spiders front where the acidic webs where unnable to reach.

The spider had made a big mistake of underestimating Draven's prowess from the start, it if had used its acidic webs from the beginning, the battle could have been different.

But it was too late to cry over spilt milk, Draven was covered in bruises from the two times he was flung across the ground, it didn't seem like much but he had suffered internal and external injuries in the process which made him growl angrily.

Draven began to bang, claw and hit the spider in different ways he could think of, even when a notification rang in Jayden's head that the spider was dead, Draven didn't stop.

After several minutes of beating the dead body that had already turned into a marshed pile of flesh blood and broken armour. Draven picked up the body and began to pull it to the exit.

Hello my good readers, I hope you've been enjoying the book so far.

I had to make this chapter a bit long to make Draven's battle complete, if you have any complaints, give me a review and I'll work on it.
