EXCERPT. "What do you mean?" "What I mean Ethan is that i can't live with a man who i am not married to." Maria snapped at me, her face flushed with emotion. This was the first time she had ever raised her voice at me. I could tell she was hurting. "So what do you want me to do?" Though i asked, a part of me already had a clue as to what she might say. "A divorce. I want you to divorce her so-." "I can't" I quickly cut her off. "Why not? Is there some law which says you can't?!" Maria paused. Her body trembling with rage," For God sake you were drunk Ethan! So was she! You have enough reason to get.-" "That's not what I meant." "Then what do you mean?" I didn't understand it myself. I had no idea what had come over me, but the flame. It burned deep inside my chest. I had to understand what it meant. "I want to feel it." "Feel what Ethan? You're not making any sense!" "I'm not stupid. Even though I was drunk i still had some Sense. There's no way i could have married her if i didn't have a reason. If i didn't feel something." "What are you trying to say to me Ethan." Maria slowly approached me, tears dripping down her face. I looked away from her, i didn't want my gaze to meet hers. I knew what i was doing wasn't right, i just couldn't stop myself. I had to find out what happened that night. "What I'm trying to say is that. I need to feel it. I need to understand what i felt for her that made me marry her. I need to understand that feeling and until i get that... I can't divorce her." "What?" "I'm sorry Maria." I knew i had hurt her, i knew what i was doing was wrong. But there was nothing more i could do. My mind was made up.

Time flies when you're on the verge of death.

"How many minutes left till we get there?" I asked Matthew my driver. I had to get back to my family's mansion for dinner. It was the first time in years that I'd be going back home. That cursed house of memories.

"Ten sir." Matthew answered with his eyes on the road; though he'd occasionally take a look at me every once in a while.

I let out a breath while I was involuntarily tapping my foot on the floor of the car. I was nervous. I wondered what my mother would say when she saw me; after all I had achieved was she still going to ignore my presence? Would my father finally be proud of me? My brother, accept me? My little sister...

'Shit.' I cursed Within myself. I had no idea why this was bothering me so much. I scratched the door handle in an attempt to calm the storm brewing within me. 'I already forgot about my family.' I gritted my teeth as i struggled to regulate my breathing. 'I had no affection for them anymore.' I tapped my foot more vigorously. I tried to avert the thoughts. 'Why was i still craving their attention?' Stop!! I pleaded with myself. 'Their recognition!'

'Theyy are the ones who rejected ME!!'

"Pull over!" I yelled to Matthew. I couldn't take it anymore. Without waiting for Matthew, I flung the car door open. I got down and walked straight to the edge of the bridge we were on. With each step I took, I loosen my tie and unbuttoned the upper part of my shirt. I felt choked up. There was a tightness in my chest which I couldn't ignore anymore.

"Ahhhhh!!!!" I held onto the bridge's rails then I screamed at the top of my lungs. I was not okay. My heart raced uncontrollably, I couldn't understand the emotions that had taken over my body. Tears welled up in my eyes.

'What the f**k is wrong with me?'

"Are y-you alright S-sir?" Matthew stuttered as he slowly approached me. He inched in carefully as if scared of what I was going to do next. I bit my lip until the metallic taste of my blood seeped into my mouth. I ran my hand through my hair like a mad man.

"Take me home." I growled. I gripped tightly unto the bridge's frame. My knuckle turning pale from the pressure.

"What about the family dinner sir?" Matthew questioned. I felt his perplexed stare boring holes into my back.

'How dare he question me?'

"I SAID TAKE ME HOME!!" I yelled into oblivion. This caused Matthew to flinch backwards and immediately scurry into the car."Y-yes S-sir!" He stated as he turned on the ignition. Sweat beads formed on his forehead as he teeth chattered.

I huffed as I made my way into the car. The drive home was silent, for Matthew at least. In my head, their voices tormented me.

'You're worthless.' 'He's a liability.'

'I feel sorry for your parents.'

'I'll never acknowledge you.'

'He'll always be behind his brother.'

'You took her away from us you monster!'

'I regret giving birth to you.' 'Murderer!'

'Demon!'. 'Second rate!' ' It's your fault.'

'You look nothing like me.'

'Devil.' 'You were supposed to die!' 'You ruin everything.' 'You killed her.'

"Ahh!" I bit into my wrist to muffle my scream.

"We're here Sir?" Matthew announced. I immediately got off the car. In a fit I rushed into my house. Flung the doors open and ignoring my butler, I made my way to the kitchen. I yanked open the fridge and pulled out a bottle of rum. I gulped it down.

"Hm. You may leave Matthew." Joseph, my butler said calmly. Unlike Matthew, Joseph had no expression on his face. Fright? Confusion? Concern? Non of those were on Joseph's face. He was already used to it. " I'll take of him don't worry." Joseph gave a slight grin to Matthew, who finally agreed to leave.

After Matthew left, Joseph instructed the maids of the mansion to pick up the clothes I scattered around on my way in. He also instructed another set to clean up the shards of broken glass left in the living room. I shattered a lamp on my way in.

After all way done, Joseph sighed deeply as he made his way to me, finally an emotion flashed on his aged face. Disappointment. I was lying on the kitchen floor -- blood dripping from my palms.

"Are you done now?" Joseph asked. He crinkled his face as he stared down at me. "And you say Maria is a crybaby." He huffed.

"Don't f**k with me Joseph!" I warned. My breathing unsteady.

"Or what? You'll charge at me like a raving bull? Honestly after all these years you're still-"

"Get out!" I cut him off. I didn't want a lecture. Joseph was the closest person to me. I pushed him away often, but he always came back.

"Do you know when a wild animal is most dangerous? When it's injured." He squatted down Infront of me and forcefully pulled out my arm. He got out some cotton wool from the first aid kit beside him then started tending to my cuts. "You need to heal." He paused. "You can't keep carrying around this grudge. You're ruining your own life."

"Tch! How would you know!" I spat.

"I've lived with you for fourteen years. And nothing has gotten better, you're still as fragile as when I first met you-."

"HOW DARE YOU!!" I yanked my hand off then got up. "You don't know me. You old geezer! How dare you say something like that to me?! Pig!" I cursed at Joseph. I couldn't let anyone hurt my ego, not anymore. I had to make him feel bad for what he said to me. That was my rule.

"I am handsome, wealthy, smart. I have everything I need and everyone loves me. I feed your old ass so don't you dare look down on me." I vented out my frustrations on Joseph. I wanted him to feel pained. To regret what he said to me. To beg me for forgiveness. To acknowledge my brilliance! But he just knelt there, no emotion, no reaction... This pissed me off even more. Boosted by the alcohol flowing through my veins, I picked up the empty bottle of rum and aimed it at Joseph. I threw it.

*SMASH*

Everything turned red. I heard the screams of the maids who ran into the kitchen. I hissed. Turning around, I made my way upstairs to my room -- I locked the door behind me.

'YOU GOT LUCKY TODAY YOU OLD GEEZER!!'
