What's in there?

Chapter eighty-six

Vanessa continued taking pictures with her camera, not minding Greg who'd been trying to hold a conversation with her to no avail.

"Can you take one of me?" Greg asked and Vanessa looked at him in surprise.

"I'm not interested," came her short reply.

"I feel hurt. You just hurt me with those words of yours." Greg said, placing his hand on his chest.

"Do I look like I care a damn?"

"At least, you're talking to me now." He said, smiling at her.

"Do you live around here?"

"That's none of your business." She replied curtly.

"Can I see some of the beautiful pictures you've been taking?"

"No, you can't." She replied in a sharp tone.

"You know, you can do better than this, Vanessa."

"Too bad I'm not nice to strangers."

"But we aren't strangers anymore."

"Only in your delusional head," she said, looking at the pictures she took. He moved closer to her and his head almost touched hers as he stealthily looked at the pictures.

"Wow. Really pretty."

"Excuse me?" She said, glaring at him.

"A beautiful creation by a beautiful woman." Vanessa scoffed at those lines of his and shook her head in disbelief.

"Is that all you can come up with? So cheesy."

"Now that's my favourite. Cheesy nachos, cheesy crust, every cheesy thing, girl." He said, widening his eyes.

"How lame!" Vanessa snorted, wondering what was wrong with the man. She didn't even know why he chose to trouble her of all people, especially on a day like this when she wasn't interested in this kind of conversation.

"I only like to see the positive side of things. I've taught myself to bring good out of all things, even the most negative situations."

Vanessa looked at his face this time and her eyes lingered on him for a few seconds.

"That way, you're able to deal with even the most heart-wrenching situations." He added.

"Has this worked for you?"

"Countless number of times. Just try it and see." He advised and Vanessa nodded in response.

Back in Xander's company...

The private investigator that Xander contacted to provide him with the information concerning Natasha reached him with the documents that contained the information. Xander called Davis and he informed him about it before even checking them. He asked him if he would like the documents to be sent to him but Davis insisted that he'd come to Xander's office instead to check it with him.

Davis arrived at Brookswill and Sons in no time and he spotted Anna as soon as he reached the general office.

"Hey, Anna!" Davis said and he headed to Xander's door without waiting for her reply.

"Mr..." Anna trailed off immediately because she couldn't remember his surname.

"Coleman. Davis is more than fine though. I don't want you calling me by my last name. It makes me feel old."

"Do you have an appoint-" Before Anna could finish her words, he'd already vanished into thin air. This man moved just like he talked. Anna thought, shaking her head.

"I didn't think you'd be here this soon, man!" Davis took one of the seats across Xander and pulled it out, sitting on it.

"I had no idea myself. So, where are the documents, man?" He asked as his eyes searched Xander's desk.

"Relax, Davis. Calm down. It's an electronic document. I'll print it now. I didn't want to do that in your absence."

Davis ran a hand through his hair and rose from his seat, pacing about. Xander printed the document immediately, retrieved it from his printer and handed it to Davis without glancing at it.

"So, what's in there?" He asked, his voice calm.

Davis' eyes scanned the document and he immediately froze.
