Not wanting to put Zhou Lu at risk because of her, Su Jian hesitated repeatedly but ultimately decided to keep it from Zhou Lu for the time being.

Startled, she jumped, probably because she felt guilty as a thief.

After steadying her breath, Su Jian finally pressed the answer button.

"What are you doing?" Zhou Lu asked, his voice warm and gentle.

Swallowing nervously, Su Jian replied as if nothing was amiss, "I'm lying in bed, what about you? Did you rest well today?"

Zhou Lu said kindly, "I'm at the old house now. I've been chatting with the elders all day."

All members of the Zhou Family must return to the old house for the New Year, at least for three days, as it's a tradition of the Zhou Family.
