Your Fault!

"Look who is here!" She said. "The bitch who can't hold a man!"

Gwen rolled her eyes.

"Fuck off, whore!" Janet said and pushed Darla out of the way. Gwen was not into violence, but Janet was tough.

"Ouch! You'll regret that!" they heard Darla saying, but they both didn't stop walking.

Once they were out of Darla's reach, who didn't follow them, Janet sighed, angry.

"That woman is so shameless. She did all that shit and still has the guts of talking to you like this."

"Won't we get into trouble? I mean… Ethan might use the power of his family, the great Lennox family, to punish us for pushing his love aside?"

"Oh, yeah… no. Darla and him are not together anymore." Janet said. When they used to talk on the phone, they would never mention Ethan or his family's name. Or anything that had to do with them.

"Really? And the child?"

"What child?" Janet asked, looking for her car keys inside her purse.

"Ethan told me she was pregnant. That was why I asked for the divorce." Gwen said to Janet.

"Well, either it was a lie or she lost the child, because it never was disclosed by the media."

"Oh…" Gwen said. She got into Janet's car and they went back to Gwen's apartment.

Janet could not stay for much longer, because her agent called her. They had decided to eat something at Gwen's place, since Darla ruined things for them at the mall, but then, she had to work.

"Sorry, honey. I'll come back tomorrow and we can have lunch together." She said to Gwen, giving her a kiss and once Gwen left the car, she drove as fast as she always had. Gwen just shook her head and entered her building.

Gwen wanted a pet. She stayed two years in Germany working for a lab and they finally opened a new brand in Cincinnati, so she was not going to let this chance go by. And now, she was single, had no kids or husband and sometimes, she missed someone at home. Not Ethan, for sure. He never gave a shit about her. He would work, travel and get back home only to have sex and get to his own room and sleep. They didn't even share the same bedroom.

She ordered lunch and, later, dinner. She was in no mood to cook. When the intercon rang, she was told her food was in there. So, she put on a thin coat, for she was wearing a sleeveless dress and opened the door as soon as the bell rang.

"Hello!" She said and her smile failed a bit. "What are you doing here?" She asked, but Ethan just got inside, holding her pizza.

"This is where you're leaving now?" He asked, looking around.

She frowned.

"It is none of your business." She said. "I didn't know you were lacking money so much that you have to work delivering pizzas." She mocked.

Ethan placed the pizza on the table and turned to her. He was wearing a dark suit, perfect hair. If not for the bandage and swelling in his forehead, she would say he was as impeccable as always.

"Why did you come back?" He asked, in a serious tone.

Gwen raised her eyebrows.

"Wow… for someone who was bleeding and needed help, you look very ungrateful!" She said.

"Why would I be grateful? You did not favor to me. You owned me." He said full of himself.

Gwen let a small laugh of nervousness out.

"What? I owned you? Since when?" She was angry. "Why are you here, anyway? To say nonsense? If that's the case, you just did. Now, please, leave!"

Ethan looked her up and down.

"You didn't change anything."

"You start to talk or I'll call security."

"I want you out of town." he said, simply.

"Oh, really? Wow. Too bad for you, because I just arrived and I will stay here."

"No, you won't. You have no right to be near me or to my family after what you've done. So… just leave and I won't do anything. If you stay, I'll make sure you'll pay."

"Wait, are you threatening me?" Gwen asked in disbelief.

"I'm warning you." He approached her like a big cat. His dark eyes gleaming. She took one step back, and another, but the third one showed it was impossible to be taken, as she was glued to the wall. Ethan put one arm on each side of her head. He was much taller than her. She looked up to meet his eyes. She could only smell him, but she shook her head. "Because of you I don't have a child. So be thankful I am still being nice."

He pushed himself from the wall, and got to the door, without looking at her again. He left.

The door being closed brought her back to the real world. What the heck just happened?

She sat on the chair and looked at her pizza. She hated being interrupted when she was about to eat. But of course, who else could do that to her? Ethan! Always Ethan!

While she started to eat, Ethan got out of her building and entered his car. He had to drive another one, since the one he liked the best was ruined.

When he was returning home after a meeting, he had the radio turned on. He didn't know why, but they were announcing that the Schönheit Company arrived in Cincinnati and the head of the lab was a man who he forgot the name of, and Gwen Hoffmann. That was the reason he got distracted and nervous and hit his car.

Ethan punched the steering wheel of the car. It was all her fault! And she was expecting him to say 'thank you?'. She caused the accident, even if indirectly.

Now, that was not the reason why he wanted her out of town. But because she caused Darla to lose the child she was expecting. He didn't cheat on Gwen because he wanted to. It was a mistake. He drunk too much and woke up with Darla in bed with him the next morning. He didn't say a word to Gwen. He didn't love her, but, either way, she was his wife and he never went out with any woman. Even because he didn't have to. She satisfied him perfectly. Why woud he look for another? But then, Darla said she got pregnant and he intended on talk to Gwen about it. But she rushed things and they fought and she asked for the divorce.

He got so pissed that she had the audacity of asking for it that he said 'fine!'. They signed the divorce papers, which surprised him, because he thought she was bluffing and that is why he signed it and sent to her. He expected her to come crying saying how sorry she was. But she didn't. Then, he knew about Darla's accident and he was told it was Gwen. But then, she was gone to another country and he decided to let it be. He could not have all the proofs to go to the police, so.. he would have to wait until she came back. It didn't happen for the last two years.

Now, when he saw her, really saw her, and got closer to her, his body remembered her right away. Since their divorce, he didn't touch another woman. And he broke up with Darla. Nor that they were ever dating, but anyway.

Ethan started the car engine and left to his own house.
