CHAPTER 8. EXECUTION 2

The people woke up early morning and all dressed in white clothes. They stood at the path that led to the centre of the city where the guillotine was. They lined up and they had white cloaks covering their bodies. No one knew why but it felt that it was the right thing to do. No one had ever seen such a thing in history. Usually very few people used to attend these executions but everyone attended. Not even the small babies and kids were left out. In the midst of the crowd was a person in a black cloak. The same person. Nobody seemed to care about the person.

All people removed their shoals and threw them to the ground as the king left the palace. They cheered him and song praise songs for him. Behind him was the crown prince of their kingdom and the other younger princes. Then Behind them was the crown prince who was to marry their princess. He was a beauty and besides him was another beauty, their princess. They could not help but talk about how beautiful the couple was. The queen and the other wives of the king were behind. They marched with grace as they were headed towards the center while other people threw flowers at them and some kneeled to the king. The procession was followed by two knight who were the most feared. then all went still as a gush of wind blew from the palace gate and all people looked towards the direction.

The traitor was dressed in white too. His body had been cleaned but the wounds were still visible. He was chained from behind and both feet. He walked and the whisper were spread as he walked. He was being pulled with a rope on his neck. The time came when he arrived at the guillotine. The stadium and the king stood at the top and his family was seated. It was time to satisfy the eager mob. He looked at where Slain was kneeling and the crowd went silent as they waited for judgement.

"Does the accused have any last word to say?" the king asked. All people stared at Slain as he raised his head and looked at the king with those eyes that could see through you soul.

"Go to hell!" Slain shouted and looked at the mob. "I can't die just yet," he said in tears.

"Any last words?" the king asked in anger.

"you are mine to kill. I will haunt you after my spirit becomes restless," Slain said and looked away.

"You may execute the culprit!" The king muttered the final blow.

The soldier holding the shining axe lifted it as another guard forced him to put his head on a block as he untied him. Slain did not struggle and he did not close his eyes. He wanted to see his body one time before he was no more. On the king's signal the soldier lowered the axe as blood spilled to the ground. Slain saw blood on his eyes as he fell to the ground.

Why was he not dying? Did he just not die. He tried to move and he saw his hand. He sat up and looked at his body which was whole. This was his chance the gods had given him. He looked at the guard who had been stationed to kill him and the axe dropped. An arrow protruded from his mouth as blood came out. The guard fell on his knees and lay on the ground dead. The other guard came to execute him but someone shot an arrow and killed him. Then someone landed few meters away. The person was dressed in black ant had the face covered that only the eyes were visible. Slain took the axe and watched as guards flooded the stadium. No one was moving. The two knights stood in position to defend the king. Slain watched as the person danced with the sword and had fast moves. The person cut the soldiers and they all surrounded. Slain this his chance now that the guards were busy elsewhere.

As he was running he heard the person scream and a murmur from the crowd. He turned around and looked. A guard missed by an inch and the process he removed the mask. Slain stared at her big round brown eyes as she fell on the ground with the sword aside. She stared at the guards in horror as one of them stepped forward and raised his sword to kill her. That woman had a lot of gut showing up and trying to stop a royal order. She looked at him and bowed her head as she waited for her death. Still Slain could not believe that he had been saved by a girl. He continued running and he stopped on his tracks as he felt something cut in his heart as he skipped a beat. He turned and he was raging like a wounded buffalo. Where all that anger came from he could not tell. He looked at the guard who was about to strike her.

******************

So these were the consequences of not listening to her mother. She had taken he risk of trying to save someone who had ended up proving that she was wrong. He only looked at her once and now he was running. Was he a coward? No he was more than that. In her heart she knew it. She did nothing wrong and she was glad she was able to save him. He had to run so that he would save the people. She looked at the soldier as he was about to push the sword through her chest. she felt a something and she moved as the execution axe cut through the guard separating him into two. The axe stuck on another guards chest. She smiled as she took her sword and stood up. Atleast he had some common sense. He moved like the wind. he anger in him was like it had been triggered by something. In a while he hade the axe in his hand. He swung it and slashed almost five men at a go. The people gasped as blood spluttered on his face. He smiled wickedly as he swiped another group and took her arm. She looked at him and tried to pull it away but the grip was too hard. He marched faster and on his way he killed few men and he started jogging escaping through the soldiers. He broke into a run and she had a hard time catching up. The stadium gates were closing and a they arrived it was already locked.

He stopped and pulled her that she went stumbling behind him almost crushing to the wall. He stood in front of her as the soldiers approached them. He released her and took the sword from her. He had both the axe and the sword. he marched forwards towards them and dropped almost twenty men as the other soldiers stopped. The king looked closely as the savior killed the soldiers. She watched in amazement still not believing her eyes. He seemed to grow stronger the more he killed. She watched as his hair swayed with blood spluttering. He turned and looked at her. That look scared her. He took the axe and threw it at her. She closed her eye as the axe stuck on the wall almost five feet above her. He then threw the sword higher. She watched him as he set into a sprint. His first step moved the sand below him as he came at her and a few feet from her he leapt and his right foot stepped on the axe. He jumped again and his hand held on the wall top as he pulled himself up. She stared as he escaped without her. She thought that he had some brains but he was just not good at giving thanks for saving his life. she looked for the sword but it was far that she could not reach it. She heard the king order men to take her to the guillotine. They pulled her hair and dragged her. Now she was going to explain her relationship with the traitor. Someone asked her how she knew Slain. So that was his name. She smiled.

She felt some soft rumbling and just then the stadium gate fell open. Everyone stared at the gate as the guy came on a horse. This guy did not seize to surprise her. The horse rode towards them as he kicked the guy pulling her hair and raised her to sit on the horse in front of him. The horse stood on its hind limbs as they turned. He held the reins as they went past the soldiers. The ones at the gate jumped away as the horse trod past them.

"Where did he get the horse from!" the king shouted. They rode on the white sheets destroying them. She felt his arm on her belly. She looked at him. His look seemed distant as if he could see where the sun was setting to. His silver eyes for sure could see through realms. She lay her head on his chest and she did not realize when she fell asleep.
