7. Why choose a human over you kind?

It's you because no one else makes sense

When she looked into his eyes she remembered him. There was no way she would not remember the eyes of the creature who saved her. He was not a human and therefore one of the creatures that she hates the most.

But she also can not bypass the fact that he saved her when she needed saving, killing his kind for her. And those emerald green eyes of his that had promised her safety and protection could never be forgotten.

Alex walked a few steps closer to her and she tried standing up, alert because she did not know why he was coming close to her. Before her feet could completely touch the floor she slipped. She closed her eyes and braced herself preparing for the painful impact but it never came. Instead of pain, she felt a pair of strong and steady hands wrapped around her little waist preventing her from falling face-first to the ground. The spark from his touch made her shiver a little. She didn't know what that was about.

Lillie opened her eyes and saw his face just inches away from hers and held her breath the tingling sensation from his touch was making things worse for her. Pushing against him lightly, she stabilizes her footing and moves out of his hold losing the spark that erupted from their skin-to-skin contact. She suddenly missed it, the feeling it gave her.

She cleared her throat to get rid of the awkwardness that had enveloped them both. "I am sorry for that..." she said, feeling shy all of a sudden which surprised even herself. Why was she shy standing in front of this man?

Alex only nodded at her and continued staring at her face, watching her ever-changing expressions with satisfaction.

'Is he unable to talk?' she asked herself. 'No, that can't be, he coughed earlier when Cecile was here. So why hasn't he said anything to me? Multiple questions and ideas ran in and out of her head which she had no answer to. She was so to her thoughts that she failed to notice him closing that distance between them.

He lifted his hand and cupped her cheek in it sending sparks through her body, jolting her awake and aware of their proximity. Before she could say anything he beat her to it, talking first. "Are you fine, little?" he asked, still cupping her cheek in his palm. "Or do you need me to call a doctor for you?" He loved the spark that travelled through his body from their touch, this was something that he longed for. The feel of touching his mate. His other half. He would never grow tired of it.

She heard his deep and magnetic voice and got lost in the sound of it. She tends to forget that she doesn't like being touched and was only focused on his handover face and beautiful emerald green eyes. She loved the sound of his voice, it stared something within her, something that she was not sure of. Just then she remembered him asking her a question she merely face-palmed for being so distracted and losing focus.

She opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out and she shut her mouth. She tried again and she was able to let out stuttering words. "I...I'm fine there is no need for a doctor," she said, feeling embarrassed at herself. She suddenly felt his palms on her cheeks and took a step back, putting some distance between them with a red face.

Alexander looked at her cute expression and smiled inwardly, liking the effect he had on her. "Tell me, little, have you eaten?" he asked with concern that Lillie didn't fail to notice.

"No," she answered, firmly. "That is not important now," she said and took a step closer to him and tilted her head up a little so she could look him in the eyes. "Why did you save me?"

"Because you were in danger," Alex answered flatly.

"You killed your kind to save a human if I am not wrong, humans mean nothing to you and your people," Lillie stated.

Alex looked at her and was impressed by her courage and bravery knowing that he was like the creatures that have been hunting her all her life she was bound to be afraid but here she was staring straight at him and questioning him.

"Yes, they are my kind, but not my people. There are differences between these two things." He said and bent a little forward, his face almost touching hers. Lillie didn't move an inch from her position nor did she feel intimidated by him.

"You are still one of them, why choose a human over your kind? Don't tell me you've taken a liking to me." She challenged.

Alex looked at her and was amused by her futile attempts to intimidate him rather than feel insulted as he usually would. Or supposed to.

"Because you are..." he stops when he hears the door behind him being opened.

Lillie took a step back knowing that they were no longer alone not wanting to pass off the wrong impression. Alex on the other hand was infuriated, he wanted to snap at the person who dared to enter without permission but then he remembers that he was not at home but in a hospital and refrained from doing so.

Dr James and the nurse who came with him were beyond surprised seeing the proximity between the man and the woman, no, the girl. They didn't know how to react to that. After they stepped away from each other was when he realised that his patient has awaken and he was not informed.

Walking forward, Dr jammed asked, "When did you wake up?" He asked Lillie and then turned to Alex and asked, " Why was I not informed?" while looking accusingly at Alex. Alex completely ignored him and walked to stand beside Lillie.

Knowing that he ain't getting any answer from either of them, he sighed and signalled the nurse with him to one closed so they could do what they have come to do.

He asked Lillie to sit on the bed so they could examine her. He noticed that she didn't look like someone who was in a coma some it's ago and her wounds were only left with faint scars on her body that looked like they will be disappearing soon. This surprised him a lot.

He turned to look at Alex as if asking what happened that made her wounds heal so fast. Alex raised a brow and then shrugged his shoulders.

Dr James didn't know how to react towards the quickness of recovery. Doctors always pray for the quick recovery of their patients but this was too quick that it almost felt like magic.

"She is fine now, all she needs to do from now on is to apply this ointment and the scars will naturally fade away." Dr James said and asked the nurse to hand over the ointment to Lillie. She did and Lillie took it and kept it aside, she looked up and her gaze met with that of Alex.

"You can leave now. Send the bills to my assistants." Alex said, his eyes on Lillie. While the doctor nodded and exited the room.
