*Still needs to be edited again but I have a pretty busy day today*
"Move it, Move it.- MOVE it you two. Yes I see you hiding." The coach blew the whistle and the student body participating in gym class ran at a nominal speed around the coach who stood in the middle overlooking them like a peregrine falcon. Isaac was part of this group, more for the sake of being able to test his knee. After all of the hours doing nothing but being engulfed in a sediatary lifestyle had increased the rate of his knee healing exponentially. It was the best feeling coming to school in pain that was able to magically vanish by the time you leave. It made thing so much easier but Isaac felt the need to be overly cautious just to make sure his knee wouldn't fail when he had to land from a 30 story building.
That meant participating in gym, which was a class he was so determined to skip the majority of the time, which seemed to be the reason why the coach seemed to be going hard as far aerobics today since as soon as he spotted him, his mood shifted from content to demonically vengeful. So that and fact that Isaac had return to the school when the coach had pleaded for him to be expelled. Isaac was currently behind the middle of the pack, he wasn't trying to rush even if his knee gave him the thumbs up to pump them harder. Plus sweating when he had one more class left was not ideal.
'Luckily, somehow they dismissed my In-school suspension for the day. Thank you Board Administration for doing a surprise visit week.' He almost cried when he heard the news. Being trapped all day like a caged zoo animal wasn't what he signed up for when he agreed to finish school.
His legs seemed bored being used so sparingly so he dialed up the speed, pacing himself ahead of the middle of the pack and leading himself closer to the top. He quickly passed multiple people who looked at him like he was a weirdo for actually trying in this exercise. Isaac was in the middle of the jocks and cheerleaders, so he slowed to get out their eyesight but it seemed like it was too late since he was currently being glanced at by the jock that was probably just as valuable for him as Kong, Flash.
'In his defense, School just doesn't work for him, his Adhd is just too abhorrent to allow him to sit like that.' He thought before he bumped into someone or more importantly, someone bumbed into him. He looked back to see someone looking at him with a completely flushed sweaty face. It seemed like she wasn't paying attention by the way she seemed to scrunch her face to look at him.
"Sorry, my glasses kept falling and I have pretty fucked up eyesight." She quickly apologized, she looked away waiting to have type of slander thrown her way but Isaac moved to the side and matched her pace.
"You're good. Just be careful, maybe tell the coach about your situation." He nodded to the coach who was, at that moment yelling at some of the athletically inclined to run better and faster.
"Are you asking for me to get detention? Coach dickhead, he just-"
"A dickhead. Pretty spot-on naming." He interrupted, she nodded slightly smiling.
"Well-"
Isaac picked up the pace, saluting her and running up to decrease the gap between the person in front of him but he felt someone wring back his gym shirt, pulling him back. He looked back,
"Well what the fuck are you built out of. How are you not sweating? It's like 75 degrees in here and we've been running for for forever " The blind girl called out. She continued to hold his shirt and seemed to want to continue the conversation.
"I used to run track as a kid, this is pretty normal for me." He smiled trying to appear friendly.
'Gwen and now her.'
"That's cool. I used to have really bad bronchitis but it went away when I was 13… I don't know why I just told you that. Btw, I'm Cindy.. Isaac right?" She introduced.
"How did you, are the rumors really that bad? God damn these people don't know how to keep their mouths shut." He smacked his teeth.
"What rumors? I just never heard your voice and your one of the people who's never showed up to gym since the first day. After attendance I put two and two together. It makes sense, though I wonder why you're here."
"Oh. Sorry, I didn't-"
He heard her snicker and then he retracted his semi apology and tried to increase his pace but she held onto his shit tighter.
"WAIT WAIT" She pulled trying to caught up.
"Why are you holding my shirt."
"You're my seeing eye person until we stopped."
The whistle blew. He stopped his momentum abruptly causing her to hit, she tripped over his heel and was falling until he caught her by the shoulder.
"See" She smiled with a thumbs up.
They continued to talk about random things throughout class since they coach had given them their break for the long run. It was their choice of sport and what to do afterward which apparently happened everyday since this was the class where the coach had the extra time to practice with his team. Isaac saw people setting up the volleyball court, while some dashed to get a basketball or badminton, the latter he found out had the least amount of participants. He decided to stretch but apparently this would he wouldn't be alone. He sat down with legs in front of him, with the cool polished floors being a nice source to expel all of the heat that was trapped inside of his body, he turned only to see Cindy stretching too but she was a little better than him.
"Isaac can I ask you something?" She asked but the way it came out made it sound like she was going to ask regardless of his answer. He looked at her, before sighing.
"Sure" He said plainly.
"Who's your favorite hero? Mine is probably Black Widow, or Susan Storm." She said as she went up from her sitting position. Her glasses slid down her face and she stopped landing hard on her knees which caused them to quack in pain.
"Hmm, I like- "
"I guess, I really respect Captain America. I don't know honestly." He admitted, he never really thought about as each time he had received that question, his mind went back to memories that he wouldn't be able to experience again and it sucked to be sad for the rest of the day. He went deeper in thought before he felt his body warn him of a object speeding towards him. Isaac snapped his elbow towards the object. He made his hands follow and he caught the volleyball that seemed to spiked at them. A tap resound between his hands,
"Woah!" Cindy said, he watched as seemed like the ball was aiming towards her. He looked and popped the ball up smacking it to the other side of the gymnasium and away from the volleyball courts, gaining a concession of groaning people who didn't like the fact that consequences happened when aiming a ball at people who shouldn't be remotely in the area of being spiked at.
"Well, that's a thing." He said only to garner look from the girl next to along the lines of 'what are you?'
