The Regiment of German soldiers entered deep into town and was met instantly by the whole police force. Albeit, all of them were hidden around except one, the chief.
"Can I help you fine gentlemen with something?"
"Hand over the artifact or lethal force will be used."
"Well, I'm sure we can-"
*BANG!*
A gunshot pierced through the forehead of the chief. The atmosphere quickly became eerily silent at the suddenness of this death.
I myself couldn't believe how fast things had just escalated.
"Fire!" The police force stepped out from where they hid and fired their weapons at the enemies.
Grenades were thrown and bullets flew, so if the Germans didn't want their forces to decrease so easily, they needed to react, and fast.
"Take cover!" Anyone who wasn't effected by the attack, quickly ran around, firing back with the same ferocity.
Sam and Patrick were down there helping, while Charles and I would try to help them from the high ground.
We both pulled out sniper rifles from their cases and started helping. Even though we had the upper hand by starting the first attack, we all knew it wouldn't be long before we were over run.
Despite our numbers against theirs, this battle seemed to be at a stalemate for at least a few hours. We finally were getting word from our backup that they were basically here.
Two tanks and about 5,000 American and British soldiers marched into town, and when they saw battle, they endangered their lives and ran in to help.
Finally, we were seeing a major change in the trajectory of this small scale war. We had already now lowered the German's numbers to less than one thousand.
It just seemed like we would win, but that wasn't the case.
My senses perked. I heard something. The sound of an engine and propellers. It was an armored plane, yet somehow, that was the least of our worries.
It's what's inside the plane that worries me, or makes me worry about the people down there.
I quickly picked up the walkie talkie and radioed Sam, Patrick, and Charles.
"The Germans called backup! Aerial attack, there is a bomb!" I still gave the message even though I knew it would be too late.
The hatch on the bottom of the plane opened up and a bomb fell right out of it. I watched it in slow motion. Not from me stopping time, but from amazement.
It upset me that a lot of lives were going to be lost, but the reward is to see a bomb blow up, and this bomb could level half the town.
I watched around 100 Germans sneaked out of the battle and into a bomb shelter. They started doing that many moments before the plane was even spotted.
I could clearly see that the only people who would survive this would be me, Charles, and anyone in these bomb shelters.
*BOOOMM!!!*
It was beautiful. Debris from the buildings previously destroyed by the war, flew across far distances.
Smoke arose from the ground up, and spread across many miles.
Buildings which were previously standing, were now on ground level with the ground, no longer as beautiful as they once were.
The reality of the situation was a terrible concept, but my twisted mind couldn't help but overlook that, and admire the sight of this pure.. destruction.
I couldn't help but feel, at peace and calm from this chaos. This war.
I climbed down the tower and slowly made my way towards the destruction. This was the biggest mess I've ever seen.
Blood stained the ground, destroyed buildings, and the clothes of my enemies, and fallen brethren.
Bodies were scattered everywhere in all kinds of states. Some were full, some had half their body, some where missing parts, and others were obliterated.
I continued to look at the bodies of my fallen fellow Americans, and noticed something that caught my eye.
I leaned down over one of the bodies and picked up two things that were sticking out of their pockets. One of these things was a pocket watch, the other was a photo.
I inspected the photo, and I didn't know how to feel at the moment.
It was a picture of Sam. With his wife and three small children. I knew that most of the deceased people here had a family, but to actually see it and realize it was something else. It was heartbreaking.
I put the pocket watch in my pocket and collected my bearings. I pretty much had to, because every German soldier that hid in the bunker came out and wasted no time and aimed their guns at me.
"Wait! Don't shoot, I have the gem, I'll hand it over!" I pulled out a purple gem from my pocket and slowly walked towards the German man. After giving it to him, I slowly backed away from him.
After we were both a distance away, the German looked at me with a face that lacked empathy.
"Waste him." Before anyone could pull their triggers, the purple gem exploded into many parts. The German guys face now resembled that of a pizza, and his life force fading.
'There's always other ways to get back to the Purple Dimension.'
Other fragments of the gem that were thrown across the war zone in random directions, also exploded in the faces of other unlucky soldiers.
With just that move alone, I have already taken out at least 20 soldiers. That still left 80 to go.
"Fire at him!" They quickly recovered from their shock and started shooting their guns at me. I jumped out of the way of their gunfire and crawled towards a scaffolding that was leaning onto a pile of rubble.
I climbed up it and slid down the rubble, hiding myself from the Germans. I pulled out my walkie talkie and radioed Charles.
"Charles, you there? Alive?"
"Yeah, I'm alive. I can't believe what happened. Sam… Patrick.."
"Hey, hey, stay focused. We can grief later, it's important that we leave here to tell the tale. I need you to help me out here."
"Right. Got it. Proceed with caution. I'll snipe a few out for you."
I didn't really need his help, but is it so wrong for me to want to make some people feel useful in these kinds of situations and circumstances?
I peeked around the corner of the rubble and looked at the approaching German soldiers. It wouldn't be long before they searched around this large piece of rubble, so I had to act fast.
"You three. Search all around and on top of the rubble. We'll proceed to search around." The rest of the Germans left three of them to search.
I took quick action and quietly climbed the top of the rubble. As soon as one of the German's heads peaked over the rubble, I dug a knife into his skull.
I pulled his body up and looked down. The last two soldiers were quickly closing in both sides of the rubble. I pulled a machete off my back and threw it into the skull of the one on the left.
I turned to the right and jumped off the top of the rubble.
"Finish him!" I yelled towards the unsuspecting enemy. He looked up and was about to shoot, but I already landed on top of him. I kicked his gun away and snapped his neck. Efficiently killing him.
"Fatality."
I took all of their weapons and snuck my way over to the rest of the soldiers. I pulled out my W-T and contacted Charles.
"Create a distraction for me."
"Got it." He aimed his sights over to the crowd of Natzi's.
I put away the W-T and pulled out two grenades. I threw one of them about a yard away from them.
One of the Germans saw this and quickly did something about it.
"Get down!" He ran over to the grenade and jumped onto it, shielding everyone from the blast with his body.
However, after waiting for a few seconds, it never exploded. The German stood up and inspected the grenade. When he got close enough to it, the sound of a sniper bullet echoed around.
*BOOM!*
The grenade suddenly exploded in the face of the German, completely taking off his head. I would now nickname this man, Demogorgan.
Everyone else, in a slight panic, started frantically searching the surroundings for a sniper. Taking advantage of the distraction, I actually took the pin off the second grenade, and threw it right in the middle of them all.
They spread out a little bit after the sniper shot, but the second grenade would preform just as anticipated.
"Shit! Get away!" It took someone a few seconds to notice the grenade and warn everyone else. A few seconds too late.
Another explosion rang out. I got rid of another twenty soldiers this time around. Another sniper shot rang out, eliminating another German, meaning I had to step out from cover and start gun blazing.
So I did exactly that. I jumped out from my cover spot. Two AR's in each hand.
"Say ello' to mah lil' friend." I dropped body after body of Germans with these two AR's, I didn't even need to use a full clip to get rid of these guys.
With the help of my bullets, Charles' precise sniper skills, and the surprise of the Germans, allowed me to finally end this war.
