Nolamine chose to ignore his father's intentions before he met his mother. Whatever they were, him wanting to get his hands on her wand and steal it, he did not want to get his mind entangled in such thoughts and start doubting him.
"Do not worry Guzzler, she knew everything when we first met."
Aapep said.
Nolamine had once more forgotten that he could hear his thoughts. His words calmed him down. Aapep did not want him getting distracted by what he had to tell him before he sent him off.
Understanding his abilities could be the difference between life and death, especially where he was going to emerge from in the other world.
"You could say she got to steal his wand and make it her own in the end, don't you think?"
Aapep said.
"Aapep! What the hell!"
Nolamine did not know what to think. The fact that a creature thousands of years old could make a joke or the fact that he made a joke about the wand between his father's legs and his mother owning it, he just did not know he had a sense of humor like that.
"Hahaha, looks like I miss talking to insects."
Now he was calling humans insects. Nolamine started thinking that he was in a good mood for some reason.
"Anyways, let us finish our talk as time, like always, is running out."
He said, bringing the talk back to its seriousness.
"The Devourer Of Wands is a wand that possesses the ability of the Guzzlers, 'Devourer' and some or shall I say more than half of the abilities of the first wand it devours. In your case 'Impenetrable Mirror' and since you are able to use your mother's eyes, you will not just be able to use some, but all of the abilities of the wand it had first devoured, even improving them."
Nolamine was beginning to think that he was becoming overpowered.
"No, even with this and with the ability I will give you, you will only be as powerful as a trained earthling who goes to Panthalassa. Do not forget, you cannot use spells."
Nalamine gulped. Aapep had raised his voice a little and it was scary. He wondered if all Nobel's Guardians showed no respect to who they were supposed to serve.
"Nobles are only considered powerful as the rest of Wizards once they at least reach Third Tier, but they are born in First Tier because of the power of their eyes. Well, it is worth noting that your case is different. With that said, cultivation and spell casting have reached new heights from the time of Nobles."
Aapep warned him and he took it to heart. He knew being naïve and prideful could get him killed. He had told him as such when they first met.
If what Aapep was saying was true, then it meant that even though he was born with power, he was still considered the weakest amongst First Tiers but would be considered powerful once he reached Third Tier. A fit he had just said many that struggle to get to. He was anxious to find out how powerful First Tiers were.
"Since you are a Noble, your Cultivation Technique is already predetermined until the Seventh Tier with the last two tiers being determined by your growth and ability, but that is a conversation for if you get that far in your pursuit of power."
Aapep said. Nolamine noted that there were nine tiers of power.
"You will know how to cultivate when you meditate. The inscriptions on how to do it are already imprinted in your brain."
It was a surprise to Nolamine.
"In order to cultivate and grow your strength so to rise through the ranks, you will have to feed Martyr wands while you will have to eat cores."
"Huh?"
Nolamine was fine with feeding Martyr wands even though he did not know where he was going to find them, but the other part seemed ridiculous to hear and think about.
"What do you mean 'eat core'?"
He asked while hoping he had heard wrong. Aapep smiled.
"I mean just that. The cultivation technique you will be using combines both Martyr's ability and the wand it ate previous Cultivation Technique and make them one. Your mother had to eat beast cores in order to cultivate.."
"Nolamine was taken aback."
"She had many such cores in her possession when she came here, powerful ones, but had to use them in her sacrificial ritual. Only one core remains, but unfortunately, it is just too powerful for you to digest and assimilate for now. You might just die. This is how her body was so tough and steady. With that out of the way, let us talk about your abilities."
Nolamine just sat there and took it in. He had no time to protest.
"Impenetrable Mirror comes with many abilities, each one opening up for you to use as you cultivate and reach a new tier of power, sometimes coming in as two abilities. We never talked much with your mother about them, but close your eyes and concentrate on your eyes. You shall see something written."
Nolamine, like a good student, did what he was told to do. He closed his eyes and concentrated on his eyes. He did not know what to expect.
*****
Impenetrable Mirror
Abilities:
Reflection - The ability to reflect any spells cast to you and returning them back to their caster. Can only reflect half the spell cast with the other half being expelled through the process. Ability shall evolve as you reach higher tiers of power.
*****
Nolamine was surprised and opened his eyes.
"A System?"
He asked.
"No, a gift granted to only Nobles. It only shows you the abilities you are able to use. It works just like how your cultivation technique was imprinted in your brain. Wizards have to write theirs down so to pass them down or sell their spells and Cultivation Techniques, but you do not have to as you inherit them."
Nolamine was pleased. He never would have liked to have such an ability, a System, as it felt like cheating, but he still read and liked all the light novels with such abilities. It was just not for him as he feared it would just make him lazy and spell his death.
"Do you get it now? Impenetrable Mirror, her cultivation also strengthened her body as she ate more and more beast cores, allowing her to have the body of a Warrior and with spells being returned back to their caster if they targeted her with such."
"Wow!"
Nolamine said. However you put it, it was just a powerful ability.
"Do not be fooled though, as the more powerful the spell is, the unlikelihood of you not being able to reflect it back becomes more. I will not be there when you break through to the next tier of power, so I can't tell you some of the weaknesses of your abilities. You will have to find them out before you rely heavily on them."
Nolamine nodded.
"Did you see your other ability?"
Aapep asked. Nolamine had seen something else written but had not read it as he was surprised at first. He closed his eyes and concentrated again. He saw something written on the opposite side of his Impenetrable Mirror abilities.
*****
Devourer
Abilities:
Devourer - The ability to Devourer spells, digest them and turn them into Chaos mana as a by-product. You can launch it at your enemies as you please. Ability shall evolve as you reach higher tiers of power.
******
"Wahahahahaha!!"
Nolamine laughed. For some reason, he thought of Son-join. He wanted to tell him how crazy his abilities were and stop him from claiming that his ability is the greatest of all time.
"This is sick."
He said.
"I do not know what you mean by sick, but since I use Chaos Energy, I know how powerful it can become."
Nolamine calmed himself. He had started to talk friendlier to Aapep after he had made jokes and such.
'Wait, by-product? Does that mean that I will be attacking people with Martyr's poop?'
He thought all of a sudden.
"Wahahaha."
Aapep laughed.
"Kid, I do not know what to say, but no, it does not work that way. He is not a living being after all."
The words calmed him down. He used to laugh at zoo goers having poop thrown at them by monkeys. He did not want to be the one doing the same, but as a real attack. He calmed down.
"So how powerful is Chaos mana?"
He asked. He did note that Aapep called it Chaos Energy. Aapep grinned.
"You will just have to find out for yourself. What you must know though is your innate ability as a Guzzler, to eat everything and turn it into power and strength."
He said, and Nolamine nodded. He left it alone and asked another question he was curious about.
"Since I am a little bit different than the other Guzzlers who had normal wands over the years, how did they cultivate?"
He asked.
"They ate beasts and absorbed some of their abilities in the process. Being able to change into the form they wanted to that belonged to the beast they ate and with all that beast's strength and ability that they possessed, having a final form that combined all the forms and abilities they acquired."
"Damn."
That was all he could say as he imagined how powerful his father was if they conceded him one of the 8 Nobles who were still more powerful than all other Wizards.
He failed to come to terms with how powerful his final form might be.
