Amelia's sweaty hands clutched at the steering wheel, as she kept one eye on the GPS. Her breath came out in shaky pants, and she bit her lip. The roads were clear as she drove to the port― and she couldn't help but dart her eyes at the rearview mirror.
Matteo wanted to get the police to escort her while keeping their distance, but the police vehicles were simply too eye-catching in this part of the town. As such, the cops swapped out their gaudy vehicles for average cars that no one would bat their eyes at. They followed her a safe distance away, barely visible in her rearview mirror.
However, Amelia still felt worried. No matter how boring a car looked, it would attract attention simply because driving to such a location at such a late hour wasn't something normal people did.
She sucked in a deep breath, hoping that Caleb would not look further.
