She continued to watch the man, trying to remain as still and silent as possible. She couldn't afford to be discovered. Her mind raced with thoughts of what the pack would do to her if they found out she was tampering with the security system. She couldn't even imagine the kind of punishment she would get if they ended up finding out that she was working with Sokolov.
The man finally set the table down with a heavy thud, wiping sweat from his brow. Clorinde held her breath, hoping he wouldn't notice the already disabled security cameras. He muttered something under his breath, but she couldn't make out the words.
After what felt like an eternity, the man turned and walked out of the room, leaving the door slightly ajar. Clorinde waited, counting the seconds until she was sure he was gone. She slowly emerged from under the desk with her legs trembling, taking deep breaths, and trying to steady her nerves.
