The Roulette Is A Scam, Seriously!?

He picked up the device that appeared out of thin air and observed it. There was a small ball on top of it, but he couldn't move it. Afraid of breaking the roulette, he let go of it.

It was a good thing he didn't try to figure it out during his school stay, as unlike his quests or notifications, the roulette in front of him was fully visible, and he was sure anyone could probably hold it in their hands.

It would be suspicious if he just pulled a roulette out of nowhere in the middle of the hallway.

On the back of the roulette was a text engraved into the metal plate.

[Fortune Law]

He ran his finger over it, and a notification window appeared in front of him.

He understood what the words meant, but he wasn't sure what would actually happen if he were to use it and win something.

'No use trying to think about it now, I gotta try it out.' He pressed the button, and the roulette started moving clockwise at an insane speed, and soon after, the ball in the middle was released and fell into one of the colored spots.

'Gray, huh...I guess I was never a lucky person in the first place. Let's go again.' He pressed the button again, and soon enough, got his results.

'...'

He lost, again.

'So it's gonna be one of these, huh...' He squatted down while looking at the Roulette in front of him, trying to find a way to cheat his way through for better results. Unfortunately he couldn't think of anything.

He tried again and the ball finally hit one of the winning colors.

Would you like to take something out of the inventory?

Yes No

«------------------»

Once again, he clicked on 'Yes' and a fridge appeared in front of him.

With nothing left to lose, he tried the roulette once more and watched it spin.

Soon enough, the roulette with the ball stopped, revealing his winning color.

«------------------»

Red - The End Of The World.

Congratulations on winning:

A Two-handed Masamune Odachi!

A 109 inches long katana.

«------------------»

'...A katana? And the length is perfect.' He pulled it out of his inventory and gave it a few swings. The katana was smooth and all of Nikolai's strikes were fluent. The katana in question was a two-handed type, yet he was able to easily wield it with just one hand.

"Finally something useful. I will keep you in my inventory as one of my trump cards." Nikolai said while caressing the blade.

He played around with the inventory for a bit and after a while, figured out how it worked.

Afterward, he tried other things. Basically a trial and error.

Much Much Much Later That Day...

'So, the things I can use are Quests, Map, Roulette, Secret Trophies, Inventory, and two more things that are locked.'

He opened up Quests, but there wasn't any other quest left. He managed to finish up all of his quests. The screen was completely empty, devoid of anything. Nikolai wondered if there will be more quests in the future.

The map function had things like GPS and mark options on the map. Most of the area of the map was blacked out, probably because he has yet to uncover it. He zoomed out and saw that there was not only a map of the area he was currently residing in, but maps of other territories and other countries as well, but alas, all of them were unavailable. The world was a dark place.

Secret Trophies showed his accomplishments he was rewarded for. As the name implies, the trophies were revealed only after he managed to unlock them. Currently, he held three of them, and he was kind of thrilled to uncover more.

He tried Roulette three more times but won nothing. His luck was only about average. Together, he spent 250MP Points for the roulette and earned only a fridge and a katana.

"Out of seven tries I only won twice. The odds are really bad." Nikolai mumbled under his nose, kind of disappointed.

He felt like there is no point in trying it anymore, at least for now, so he put away the roulette into his inventory.

He definitely wanted to save up his points as who knew if there wasn't another way to spend these points.

His inventory currently held, 22 meal tickets from Captain, A cracker from Captain, 450MP Points, a katana, and the Roulette.

Then there was the Roulette. Unlike the other four special abilities he had, Roulette was a physical object, meaning it could be placed inside of it. Nikolai touched his arm and found out, that there was a rule regarding the Inventory, as no living beings could be placed inside.

He thought it was a huge detriment, but from what he observed, the Inventory didn't have a limit when it came to things you could place inside.

He scrolled down, and there were countless spots to put your things into. So if he couldn't find any trashcan around the vicinity, he could just put the trash inside the inventory.

The problem was his fridge, while he earned it from the Roulette, he couldn't really use it without setting it up, as there were tons of wires and cables, he didn't know what to do with, so he decided to just leave the fridge in the open and worry about it later.

After everything that happened, he really wanted to take a shower, but there wasn't even a bathtub nor a shower. He put away his sunglasses, washed his face in the sink, and returned to the living room.

"I will have to bathe in some lake tomorrow. Haah...Time to sleep."

He really hated going to sleep without washing himself, but he didn't have an option for now.

Perhaps due to everything that has happened today, he fell asleep almost instantly, laying on the cold ground as there was nowhere else to sleep.

Next morning.

Nikolai woke up, still groggy from his sleep, stoned for a moment, before he grabbed his sunglasses and left the house.

He had no idea what time it was currently, but he was pretty sure he still had plenty of time before his classes started.

At this point, he has just accepted going to that University.

The quest was finished. His life was no longer in danger. Nikolai could just leave somewhere and never return. He was free. He gave it a quick thought but then disregarded it because he felt that he would have a much easier time living here, than anywhere else.

As not only did he have money and meal tickets for food, he also had a roof under his head now. He could care less about the subjects in that school, but there were some benefits to being a student.

Also, this place interested him very much. In his old world, there was no one who would want to face him and fighting became boring, but here, there were tons of samurai who reignited his fighting spirit, and he could also beat up people he didn't like with only slight repercussions.

He had to admit he missed fighting, and he would most likely stay in that University just because of that. He also met some interesting people.

'Captain and Beard-sensei...huh.' Nikolai thought about the people he clicked with the moment he met them, and was even kind of looking forward to seeing again.

About ten minutes or so, Nikolai arrived near the spot he was around yesterday morning. Near the river.

He looked around and didn't see anyone, so he took off his clothes and put them on the grass, together with his sunglasses.

'Ah, come to think of it, I forgot my new badge and the uniform in the school...Well I don't really need them. I don't think I will wear the uniform anyway.'

He jumped headfirst into the cold water and enjoyed the refreshing feeling.

'Thank god, finally.' He relaxed and delved deeper to fully dip his long hair in the water. From yesterday's fights, all kinds of dirt and sand got into his hair, and he was forced to sleep like this.

It was pretty normal for people from Russia to swim in lakes and rivers near cities.

He thought it was the same in all countries, so he didn't hesitate at all. Even if it was considered to be rude, he honestly couldn't care less.

A few minutes later, he got out and dried himself off with a towel he took from the bathroom. He put on his pants and saw silhouettes in the distance, coming his way.

It was the Kazama family.

'The noisy bunch is coming,' Unknowingly, he smiled.

He only knew them for a less than a day, but he really enjoyed their day to day exchange. Or rather, day to day teasing. It felt like watching a sitcom. He could also use some of their jokes in his stand-up routine to create new punchlines.

The Kazama family was busy laughing on their way to school. Their pace was slow and there was a high chance they would be late and punished. They were very well aware of just how scary their homeroom teacher was. They were scared of Umeko-sensei hitting them with her whip, but they were still in no hurry to get to the school, after all...who likes school?

"Where is Wanko?" Gakuto looked around but couldn't see her.

Momoyo thought for a moment and replied, "She is probably still training somewhere, I lost track of her."

"Fair enough." Gakuto nodded.

"I can call her if you want me to?" Yamato pulled out a dog whistle he had on him at all times.

Gakuto stared wide-eyed at the thing in Yamato's hands. "Yamato...I know that she is like a dog and all, but dog whistles only work for dogs. They have special frequencies that we, humans can't hear. Everyone knows that!" Gakuto flaunted his muscles, feeling proud by what he said.

"Wow, Gakuto actually said something smart for once. Good going gorilla." Miyako lifted a red sign with a number 10 on it, representing her astonishment.

Yamato stared at the sign in Miyako's hand and wondered where she always pulled it from.

"Anyway, Gakuto, you are correct about that, but..." He lifted the whistle and gently whistled. No one here other than Momoyo could hear the whistle, as her hearing and her senses were way above that of an average human.

Moro didn't understand why Yamato did that, "What now?"

"Sheesh, Yamato...my head is ringing, stop with that. I am right next to you..." Momoyo complained.

"Sorry, for now, wait."

The group of five people did as they were told and stopped. They looked around in wonder and soon enough, saw sand being kicked up in the distance. Something was getting closer and closer.

"Did you call?"

The sand kicker turned out to be Kazuko.

"W-Wait...she seriously came?" Gakuto stared at her in disbelief, "How could she even hear that!? That doesn't make any sense!"

"Wow, that's actually kind of amazing, Yamato." Moro nodded in approval, "We can use this later on, if someone is in danger or something, Wanko will find us. You need to distribute these among us."

"Good job Wanko." Miyako pet her head, making her dissolve in happiness.

"Yes, good job hearing it."

Kazuko nodded and went towards Yamato.

She was standing there, expecting a reward.

"Don't look at me like that, I don't have anything right now. I just called you to prove it's possible." Yamato replied with a bit of guilt.

"Not even meat? That's unfair! I ran over here from Saitama!" Kazuko complained.

Yamato widened his eyes, "S-Saitama!? What were you doing in Saitama?"

"Training!" She replied.

Miyako felt bad for her so she gave her a small treat, "Here is a caramel, you are a good doggie Wanko."

Kazuko started flailing from side to side in happiness and started munching on her candy.

Momoyo stared at them weirdly, "Just what have you done to my dear little sister...She is like an actual puppy now...You guys..."

Short chapter, hard day.
