Inheritance

Silence continued on the room for a moment before Jin broke the silence.

"Woods? You mean I'm in a forest?"

Jin asked in an incredulous tone, being in a forest was one of the worst case scenario that could happen and based on what he saw forest is not one of the ideal place to be in an alternate universe, especially if the world you're currently on have magic.

"What dangers that poses for me, is there a town nearby?" Jin immediately asked the most pressing matter for him.

"Relax will you? The answer to your question is yes and no. The Lorebark Woods housed most of the ferocious magical beast of the continent, to the point few ever dared to venture in this place despite having rich amount of resources and taking up one third of the continents land mass. As for any towns nearby, don't even think about it, you're nearly at the heart of the forest so I would advise you just stay here obediently."

The skeleton leaned back on its chair after finishing its explanation and waited for Jin's reaction.

Jin lowered his head and took some time to process the sudden dump on hard facts, it was especially hard to accept the fact he was nearly in the heart of such a dangerous forest that housed the most ferocious magical beast on the continent.

For him as an ordinary human without any especial talent whatsoever it was almost hopeless to trek the path out of the Lorebark Woods. Not to mention the humans bodily needs such as food and water, although he had watch some survival show and picked up a thing or two but that's just it, he had no practical experience on surviving on the forest.

He looked up at the skeleton before asking. "How can I get out of this forest? You must know something, right?"

The skeleton chuckled but instead of answering it asked. "Why are you so certain I would help you and not harm you?"

Jin was surprised but didn't hesitate on answering its question. "Because if you wanted to harm me you would have already done so earlier, and considering that it was just the two of us here then you're definitely the one who help me earlier." He lifted his hand and pointed his finger on the direction of the symbols and marks on the ground but didn't dare to look at it.

The skeleton lifted its brows but such a normal reaction couldn't be performed without facial muscle, skins and brows, instead the ting that lifted were its forehead further enlarging its eye socket in terrifying degree.

"What if I just wanted to torture you to satisfy my sadistic nature?" it asked.

Jin felt his body chilled and all the hair on his body stood on end when he heard that but he still gritted his teeth and looked at its eye socket where the two wisp of green flames swayed.

"I just hope you don't have such nature." He said without breaking eye contact.

The two of them stayed silent before the skeleton broke the silence by laughing out loud. Jin didn't react to the Skelton's outburst and waited for it to give an explanation.

After laughing for several minutes straight, the skeleton adjusted its monocle that was about to fall due to its vigorous movement before saying solemnly. "I don't have sadistic tendencies, the only reason why I'm here is to give you a brief instruction on your current situation," it paused before continuing," because just like you I also transmigrated to this world." The skeleton concluded with a grim tone.

Shock was written on Jin's face upon the sudden revelation of the skeleton's origin, he had initially thought that the skeleton was the corpse of a powerful magician who was corrupted by malevolent magical energies just like the undead in the various novels he had but who would have thought that the skeleton would have such a deep background.

It's like I was watching a mystery movie… Jin thought to himself in bitterness.

Upon seeing the look of shock on Jin's face, the skeleton let out a sigh of frustration before adjusting its monocle again. "That's right, I am your senior. Sadly I'm already dead, evident of this corpse."

Jin looked in surprise upon knowing that the skeleton was a literal corpse.

"Then how could you converse with me if you were already dead."

The skeleton chuckled before saying. "This is a lingering spirit of mine, after it had fulfill its duty it would dissipate along with this temporary vessel I had made. Now let me tell you the instruction that I have tasked this spirit."

Jin interrupted it by asking. "Temporary vessel?"

It paused before explaining. "This isn't my real corpse, I just created this to temporarily house my lingering spirit, my real corpse would have killed if it was placed here by the radiation it would emit. So if you don't mind I would like to continue." It paused as if asking Jin not to interrupt him.

"Just like I said earlier you were in the Lorebark Woods. Which was situated in the Beast Continent, one of the six continent, I won't explain this to you since there's a book about geography in those bookshelves. As for why you have transmigrated to this world, I don't know, I'm also searching for answer but I have failed to find any clues what so ever.

"As I search for clues about the mystery of my transmigration I had found that I won't be the only one, that's why I created that magic circle engrave on the ground, it had the function of screening humans with uniqueness." It paused to let Jin process the information.

Jin was initially disappointed that even this 'senior' of his didn't have the answer as to why they have transmigrated but upon hearing the function of the magic circle he was suddenly full of joy, he felt like a protagonist of a novel that received a power up upon transmigrating, he couldn't help but immediately ask what the uniqueness meant.

"What was the uniqueness you were talking about?"

Feeling the excitement and eagerness of Jin, the skeleton couldn't help but shook its head before answering. "The magic circle filter individuals who had, for example an extra ordinary physique, abnormal luck or tremendous amount of intelligence but not all uniqueness is a blessing sometimes it could be a curse."

Jin was overjoyed upon hearing the criteria of uniqueness and ignored the latter half of what it said.

The skeleton shook its heads upon seeing Jin ignore the most important part of what he said before adjusting its monocle despite it not shifting. "Now this is probably the most important thing, do not go into any of the towns here, if you're wondering why it's because there's no human here…"

Silence suddenly dominated the room, shock was written all over Jin's face. It was probably the most absurd thing he had ever head, no humans mean he was all alone in this world and that could entail to lots of things, mostly bad news for him.

Without any humans he would be forced to live here on the jungle or risk being the pet of the natives, he might be treated as rare commodity by the upper class of this world or might be experimented by other, he might also be displayed for others as a novelty , thinking of such things caused a chill to run down his spine.

"I assume you knew what that meant so you had better avoid going into any town, that's also why I had set up this magic formation here and not in any of the town or city, and if you decided to visit the town or city you had to make to disguise yourself very well. I had left behind this books here to supplement your general information of this world so as to let you live with very few complications."

"One other thing is I had left behind half of my inheritance in the heart of the Lorebark Forest, if you wanted to obtain my inheritance then you would have to retrieve it, it contains my wealth and my research in my attempts to get back to earth so if you still want to go back then you should hea-" It paused before looking at its hands, there one of its finger was disintegrating into dust.

Jin was about to say something in concern but the skeleton lifted a finger before saying. "I'm running out of time so let me conclude this, everything on me, my coat, my ring, monocle I leave everything to you, lastly I want you to accomplish what I had failed to do, find out the reason why we have transmigrated." It said before completely disintegrating to dust.
