Chapter 04: Tales of The Divine

"You've probably realized by now that this isn't your body,is that correct?"

Nasir's tone was that of seriousness. It made my body shuddered.

By now,I've realized that this isn't the modern world I used to live in,this is taking place in the medieval era.

For simply admitting you're a reincarnate could spell death. It was the same as admitting that you're an illegitimate son of a demon,nothing about that is great.

Just one sentence to go into the public could spark a wide-spread rumor,and even more so,towards the churches.

'Welp,I'm dead'

I began to silently pray for a quick and painless execution when suddenly I felt a touch on my back.

It was Nasir's hand.

"Don't worry,you might missed your old place,and this sorts of stuffs happens from time to time" He spoke,invoking a surprised look from me.

'Doesn't that mean this is common? So I won't get executed then? Which year did I was born into?' As my thoughts races for an answer,Nasir continued his statement.

"You see,there exist a prophecy where people from another dimension would enter this place once every 500 years" Nasir spoke. As I didn't intend to interrupt his narrative,I stayed silent.

Seeing this,Nasir continued on, "These people served as the Guide. These people are the one who will change the world's affairs according to Destiny's desire and at the same time prevents the greatest catastrophe from wreaking havoc, Aesir"

What? What is that? Aesir?

"What's an Aesir?" I asked,somehow I needed to know whatever this is before continuing the narratives.

Nasir closed his eyes slowly,the expression was that of a someone who was reminiscing the olden days. The he carefully spoke with a professional and soft voice.

"Once,during the glory days of the six God. They decided to create a world where heavens would reside,granting their believers a promised Eden. During the creation,one of the six God,was the God of darkness,Aesir. Aesir marveled at the masterpieces all the five God puts into,but he was dissatisfied with how there was no violence nor chaos in it,it was as if he was being intentionally left out. Angered,the short-tempered god decided to destroy the heaven."

"The heaven was trapped in a cloak of darkness,enveloping its entirety into black substance that corrodes and destroy. The other five gods opposed to this solution,and the goddess of light,Hikari attempts to counter Aesir with her light by devouring Aesir."

"In all its gloriousness,Hikari managed to significantly weaken and reduce Aesir's influences. Aesir was turned into speck of darkness left floating in the space. Despite all the effort,the remains of Aesir had left its marks and merged with heaven's essence."

"Following this event,the gods sought to collect the remains and banished it in a single place,the heaven itself became a vessel of prison that Aesir's inhabited"

Nasir slowly opened his eyes,the looks on his face were that of pity. "This is where we live,Ryuuto. This is earth,where good and evil exist,where the day and night coexist with each other"

"Aesir's influence is already getting progressively stronger by the day,the reincarnation happened very late this time." Nasir spine,it's as if he was lamenting towards the gods.

"Speaking of them,why don't they do it themselves?" I asked,it's a simple question with a simple answer. Yet I still wanted to hear the word coming out from this priest-looking person.

"That...that would be a catastrophic event. Involvement with the gods would certainly have it's effect on us dwellers of this land"

Nasir seemed to be contemplating for a while,then he spoke once again, "The gods would choose a perfect soul to be brought over to this land and would give their blessings upon the soul so it may have a chance standing before the calamity itself."

Nasir stared at me for a while,as if trying to tell me something. I couldn't get it.

After a while,he scratched the back if his head, "Ah,I meant your blessings..is there anything that you are particularly good at?"

Nasir asked sheepishly.

"My blessings? " I thought about it for a while,it's only been a day since I reincarnated and I didn't have the chance to discover more about this body. All I have ever experienced is lying in bed after all.

"Oh,that's right you still haven't know your blessings. Sorry for the rush" Nasir apologized whilst scratching the back of his head again.

'Do golems feels itches too?' I thought as I watched Nasir's back leaving the room.

I laid my head down,and contemplated on his words before he left. Nasir had said something before leaving the room.

"In any case,you must get stronger. Not only for your own sake,but for this world's sake."

Nasir's word echoed in my mind.

I closed my eyes,thinking that everything that had happened so far is completely out of my expectations.

Turns out this isn't a simple reincarnation or travel back in time story after all.

Is this the feeling of knowing that you are the main character? The whole world resides on my shoulder.

Nevertheless,resting is more prioritized right now. I tried relaxing my mind for a bit and began to feel sleepy soon.

'Guess I'll worry about those tomorrow'

My entire connection from the world were cut off,there was only me and my thoughts.

Surrounding me were a darkness,akin to a black abyss and I'm in the center of it,this can feel and see myself,yet there was nothing around me.

The essence of emptiness.

Yet somehow,at the end of my vision,was a horizon of light swirling into a black center.

The black center looked almost like a black hole,devouring everything around it.

Zooming in,I noticed it wasn't so simple. This black hole seemed to be wriggling.

Is this an illusion? For a moment,I think I can see a countless numbers of maggots converges into the center. Essentially creating the shapes of this black hole.

Occasionally,shadowy tentacles would forcefully ripped itself apart from the convergence.

This abomination,it looks disgusting beyond statements.

As I stared into it longer,I felt compelled to stare at it even longer,and floats closer to it.

My mind is obediently following the eyes,tracing back into the center of this black convergence.

The closer I get,the further I felt detached from the world,and the more insane I felt.

Everything becomes harder to control as I got closer to it.

"Let me out of here..."

a hoarse voice creaked from the convergence.

This thing...it's alive?

No no no,someone must be trapped in there!

Instantly,I rushed into the convergence. Then I noticed it,the tentacles forcefully appeared from the surface and grabbed me by the waist.

'It's a trap!'

The tentacles pulled me in slowly,the voice are nowhere to be heard.

Only the screams of the unfortunate cam be heard•••

Huh!

I abruptly sit up on the bed. Holding my chest tightly.

It's heaving up and down,my body is sweating all over.

"Huff..puff..."

Thank goodness,it was a nightmare. It still felt real and I can still feel the pain on my waist.

I pulled my shirts from the bottom,and saw no marks on my waist.

'It hurts,but it's not there' I thought.

I glanced out the window in the corner of the room.

It was dark. The house seemed to be silent.

So it's midnight....

I tried stretching on the bed a bit. Sooner or later,I have to get used to this body.

Yup,I have been reincarnated into a small body. This boy's body is not only malnourished,but I think it's shorter from what his peers height.

'Alright,I'll attempt some basic training then figure out the rest of it along the way'
